The Numbers Game – 2014/15 Review – Newcastle United

Newcastle can count themselves a little fortunate remain in the Premier League after their decision to part company with Alan Pardew midway through the previous campaign proved disastrous. Having won seven times and earned 26 points in their first 19 fixtures, the Magpies stuttered to safety under the guidance of John Carver, with three victories and 13 points accrued over the remainder of the season.

In this latest article for members, we assess Newcastle’s faltering campaign, running the rule over their squad in terms of goal threat and creativity ahead of the Steve McClaren era.

      England/Wales could get:

France, Poland, Turkey, Finland and Moldova

      Or they could get:

Iceland, Albania, Faroe Islands, Azerbaijan and San Marino

      Bit of a difference!

Great news for Wales - getting in the Top 2 pots makes it so much easier to qualify for the major tournaments - and you have to perform really badly to get relegated down to pot 3 and beyond.

CONFIRMED: Wales are now 10th in the FIFA World Rankings.

Above Spain, Uruguay, Italy and France.

On a serious note, I think Wales has finally build a good team(shame the Giggs legend couldn´t experience this), the same could be said for Iceland.

Wonder how many of the Welsh team would get into those teams?

Bale, Ramsey, Williams maybe... any others?

Precisely, let's see Suarez cut it at that level.

Because Suarez never played an european qualifying game... he isn't good enough to make part of a squad

Is Francis first choice RB for Bournemouth?

Also I see Adam Smith is listed as a backup RB but also played LM and RM last season.

    Possible OOP player?

    Team thus far:

    Hart [Hamer]
Cedric, Ivanovic, Coleman, [O' Shea, Baker]
    Hendo, Depay, Fabregas, Siggy, Schinderlin
    Kane, Giroud, Lukaku...

Obv will be going three defenders.... Not sure if I should go three attackers or five midfielders in this instance to start off with... Peoples thoughts. Second draft only

I was thinking a 4.0 GK for bench warming... But I suppose it would be a good idea to have a starting one for when I use bench boost. Any suggestions in the 4.0-4.5 range?

I don't think that's always the best option.

If you want to spend decent money on your front 7, you'd be better off picking a keeper of a mid table team who has a solid defence and/or will get lots of save points (ie. Southampton, West Ham, Stoke, West Brom, etc.) who will play week in, week out and a 4.0 GK who is most likely bench fodder. If your keeper gets injured, sub him out, easy.

I find swapping goalkeepers based on home/away each week is way too frustrating and not guaranteed to reap points.

thank you! I will keep that on board and tinker around to upgrade slightly in GK
