After stepping in as a caretaker manager following the sacking of Michael Laudrup, Garry Monk eventually guided Swansea to a 12th place finish in the 2013/14 season, and was handed the job on a permanent basis ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. The former captain went about rebuilding his squad, with Lukasz Fabianski, Federico Fernandez, Jefferson Montero, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis amongst the notable arrivals. Many of the Spanish contingent at the Liberty departed, though, with Chico Flores, Pablo Hernandez and Michu (on loan) all leaving the club, while Michel Vorm and Ben Davies joined Tottenham.

In this members article, we take a detailed look at Monk’s first full season in charge, analysing the chief goal threats and creators as the Swans recorded a record points total (56) and highest Premier League finish of eighth under the rookie manager.

    Off topic question. How are sites like moneysupermarket or carphonewarehouse able to offer better deals than EE's official website despite using their network? Apologies if this is a stupid question but my contract is about to run out so I'm looking at the best possible deals for the S6 and S6 edge. Cheers.

      They buy contracts in bulk. Economies of scale.

      You go to EE - you buy one contract.

      You go to Carphone Warehouse - they've already negotiated the discount by buying in bulk. They pass some of that to you.

      Carphone Warehouse also buy phones in huge bulk discount packages, meaning the cost of the phones to them are very cheap meaning they can pass it on to the consumer

    Is Hooper (Norwich) the most likely 4.5 forward to get playing time?

    Toying with an idea to start with 3-5-2 since I don't really like other forwards than Rooney and Sakho for the first GWs.

      Aguero for me, and if he is ruled out gw1, then Rooney. Costa was poor last night, and then tweaked his hamstring (did not seem too serious -- I was watching live). So, many scouters are bailing due to his form and his uncertain status / injury history.

    Really coming around to the idea of rotating cheapish mid and fwd. Example, look at first few weeks rotating of Lens and Wilson, costs £12m, less than Peller and £4.5m. Unless you are really unlucky with rotation it should score more than playing Peller every week imo and gives you £.5m to spend elsewhere. You know it makes sense 😉

    Any love for Danny Rose? Except for the first gameweek his fixtures are fine and he has a very very good attacking threat. If Pochetino gets it right chances are he'll be a great FPL prospect imo.

    5.5m isn't exactly cheap but it's not overly expensive either, for what you potentially get.

      Based on their defence last year, no but definitely one to monitor. Toby is a big improvement but imo they need a quality DM to play alongside Bentaleb instead of Mason.
