The ScoutCast – Episode 164 – Sheepish

Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    I've got 1m ITB and 1 FT.

    Ruddy (Rudd)
    Darmian Clyne Cedric (Coates Huth)
    Sterling Hazard Walcott Mahrez (Sinclair)
    Benteke (C) Rooney Sakho

I'm far more inclined to save my FT and use this week's information to do a double next week bringing in Aguero.

Only other question - after last week's display (from Everton and Sunderland), I'd be crazy to put Coates over Cedric right?

Unless you are happy playing 4-4-2, I'd say you biggest problem is Hepburn-Murphy. As you can't replace him with a decent alternative at that price, I'd say save and free up a little cash to upgrade him next week.

I know we have the captains poll but I'm keen to hear individual opinions on captain:

    A) Kane
    B) Benteke

Both identical first goal scorer and any time scorer odds with the bookies. Benteke better fixture but Kane on pens and everything centres around him. Fancy more goals for Liverpool but there is a bigger chance for points shared with team mates. I'm stuck basically... Help appreciated!

I am going Kane because Tekkers may still need time to settle... and I haven't got him!

I only have Tekkers so I'm glad I don't have to decide.

I think your logic is sound for Kane - pens plus Kane has so much more game time with the lads.

    A) Cabaye
    B) Ayew
    C) Lens

I know Cabaye is proven & all that but if he plays in pivot I don't see much appeal especially with those fixtures. I don't know much about Ayew & Lens except their playing positions. Will buy one of these 3 for Sterling so that I can upgrade Wally to Sanchez soon after the deadline. What would be your pick, Gents?

The price changes do not seem to have applied yet, but fplstatistics has updated to suggest they know x, y & z are dropping and Walcott is safe (288 transfers).

Any ideas if this could yet be wrong as FPL doesn't seem to have updated yet? Confusing...

so does this mean that walcott is safe from dropping until the gameweek finishes..? or is he still able to drop tomorrow, even thought the gameweek would have commenced?

    1. Diva

He is likely to drop in tomorrow's price change, but that will come after the Gameweek deadline so he will start the Gameweek at 9.0. If he does drop tomorrow, he will be 8.9 by the time he actually plays his game.
