The ScoutCast – Episode 164 – Sheepish

Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm pretty tempted by Walcott and Tekkers to Westwood and Aguero ...

-4 but WCing in the next few weeks, I think.

Weigh it up, do you think Westwood + aguero > Walcott + Benteke +4? I'd stay if I were you, that -4 is a lot bigger than most of us think.

I'd say that could easily be 11 (-4) v 3 points. Then, I have Aguero for Watford (H).

Id save and do it next gw. Think tekkers and walcott have potential to do very well this gw.

In the same boat, I'm hoping Ighalo gets the start but part of me thinks everyone is overlooking Bournemouth's ability to score vs Liverpool. They had a good game vs Villa but were just unlucky.

Why are people getting rid of Theo already?? I'm sure you picked him with a view to the opening 4-6 ganeweeks at least. Giroud is a donkey and looked poor against West Ham, that's got to be good news for Theo. Far too knee-jerky if you ask me.

    Theo survived BUT...

He will drop tonight so if/when I want to avoid that drop, I need to use one of my ft's already tonight.
And that means I have to do that transfer before getting any more concrete info to back my early transfer (Man united players excluded).

Real dilemma for me there is that if I have to do it tonight anyway, should I do it already before deadline then.
Payet and Ayew have great gw2 fixtures so is there really point to wait with that transfer?
Besides if I don't get Ayew in this gw, I don't see rush to get him in next week either.
Unfortuntaly Walcott is very capable to punish if I move him out 😕

    1. Shifty
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 8 months ago

      another Theo question...

keep for this week, sell tonight for Payet/Ayew as intended if you are bothered about the drop.

If you're willing to pay 0.1 for more information, then take the drop on the chin.

Same for all of us. Walcott not dropping last night makes no difference. I'll still let his price drop because I want more info on who to replace him with.

I'm fighting the herd transfers of Walcott downgrade, Rooney > Aguero myself.

Rooney has a plum fixture GW3, definitely captainable. Considering spending only 1 FT on Walcott downgrade (Yaya, Mata, Payet my top choices at the moment), and roll the other FT.

Then use 2 FTs in GW4 to get Aguero in. What do you think Ryan?

Seems reasonable. I could very well do the same thing. Depends how they go this weekend.

          1. Shifty
            • 10 Years
            8 years, 8 months ago

Yea that's why I'm willing to take the drop on the chin as well...just so I have more time to look at the teams over the weekend.

That said, the 0.1 drop will be pretty pretty annoying but it's only annoying if you intend to use both FTs for GW3. More flex if you just use 1 and roll the other on.

            • 10 Years
            8 years, 8 months ago

yea when you think about it, it just makes more sense. I still have a relatively strong team for GW3, including a captain option in Rooney and a decent fixture for Pelle.

I probably won't be captaining Aguero in any case (i will be watching from behind the couch nonetheless).

Plus my point above that you won't be as badly affected by Walcott's 0.1 drop as you have a bit more flexibility with 2 FTs in GW4.

Fixtures than take a bit of a turn for the worse for Rooney, allowing for a straight swap to Aguero while not disrupting midfield too much.

mourinho will play a defensive game at city and bring ramires in for oscar thus pushing fab up. He always does this against the big team. If chelsea score this week , fab has a very good chance of being involved. wally is expected to start so i wouldnt do that i would probably wait a week and then do wally to payet and you will have the luxury of more info and two fts. Theres no need to rush payet remember its only one game ! 😛

What happens if theo starts and scores a brace against CRY.. Will everybody jump on him again??
Just GW1 passed i think being a fellow theo owner we should hold him for another week or 2 and stop worrying about price drop. GW4 would be the optimum time to get rid of him i guess..

    1. Shifty

Well, both players didn't look sharp at all.

But I would play the percentages here and probably go with Benteke. First home game, crowd up for it, against a promoted side who might be unnerved by the atmosphere...Tekkers for me.

Really Ryan? Not according to the RMT. I do know what you mean cause i watched both games. Tekkers threw away a couple of chances but i wasn't as disappointed with Rooney as most.
Actually Mane is my only other real option and i just don't really fancy him as a captain.

Rooney was playing as a midfielder despite his forward position and Benteke clearly needs time to adjust at Liverpool.

Rooney needs to remember how to stay up top and make runs. Also Mata needs to quicken up his plays.

Tekkers just needs minutes. Football. Hence not too chuffed by either.

Both will take time. Each also has streaky tendencies and right now neither are on a hot streak or even look like being on one.

They don't no. But you know that it only takers a brace or hatty and they're both on another self confidence level. Which is just about the most important thing for a striker.

Sure but its a stab in the dark to suggest their streak will begin this weekend and they will suddenly click into gear.

Actually what isn't in this game. Is Mahrez likely to score a brace again. Would you captain him? Who knows when they'll click? I know what you're saying but my point is there's always gonna be that element of chance.

Nice chatting Ryan. Now off to work. Have a nice day all!

Right, here's my team for this week, some votes of confidence would do a great deal to settle my nerves:

    Butland (McCarthy)

    Darmain Alderweireld Gomez (Kompany Oxford)

    Sanchez(vc) Mane Depay Payet

    Benteke(c) Gomis Sakho

    Cheers lads!

What do you think of it? 5.0 in the bank for Benteke to Aguero next week, and then Depay to Sterling or Yaya the week after that

What to do with Walcott this week?

    1. Keep and play
    2. Keep and bench
    3. Change to Payet (I have Sakho)

Stick to these 3 options please 😛

You might as well hold on to him and hope he starts. Even if he doesn't, he has the ability to change a game from the bench. You didn't get him for just one GW right?

The general consensus is that he'll play as ARS are away from home and he can exploit a higher back line. I would stick with him for one more week and keep the FT to allow more options next GW.

Mane is a better choice imo, but Sakho did not look lost at all. He did everything he was supposed to do, and played very well. A low scoring fantasy week does not mean someone played badly.
