The ScoutCast – Episode 164 – Sheepish

Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Keeping Walcott for now. Dont care if he loses 0.1. Points win prizes not team value. Although it has to be said it would be nice if we knew the likelyhood of him playing from week to week.

My rival beat me last season with an inferior team value of 4 million so I'm not going to be wasting transfers so much this season.

Tbf I sold him for Silva... and left cash itb for Aguero

A drop meant I would have to get someone lesser than Silva.

Was worth it for my team imo

Those who 'aren't bothered about team value' will be those complaining in GW30 about not being able to afford a 110m team because they've only got a TV of 105m.

First half of season = TV
Second half of season = Haul points

Increasing TV means points, in a lot of cases.

It's a strategy that took me to 690th, I'll keep it.

Ha, please give me full details of your strategy.

I just buy early to get TV increase, and sell early if falls are imminent to avoid them. Obviously the player has to be good too!

Fair enough but losing 0.1M on Walcott isn't too bad. I think most people with poor TV don't constantly monitor the price changes. I think they should take it out...or have prices change at a set time every week.

What is 0.1 in the grand scheme of things. I can get TV by bringing form players in over the course of the season and not by using transfers because some is about to drop 0.1.

In this instance for me, two free transfers next week is more valuable than 0.1 TV

What if Walcott doesn't drop tonight, will you sell him right after the deadline before the price drop ?

If he doesn't drop today, and I sell him tomorrow, I can avoid the drop?

But at this time only 1 game of the GW will be finished. You could buy a player who get's injured in his game on saturday/sunday.

Congratulations to theo walcott whose girlfriend has announced she is expecting a baby.

It would have been sooner, but apart from an occasional dribble, he kept shooting wide.
