The ScoutCast – Episode 164 – Sheepish

Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

this may be a stupid question for a few but normal for others.. to me its quite normal..

    A start sterling ?
    B start Jerome vs Sunderland..

I feel like jerome will get the nod ahead of grabban this gw.. and can potentially score..

If you have Sterling, you must start him, bench is not an option for such an expensive player.

He will this week. After that, it's if/when he makes a dick of himself and Rodgers realises once again that he's a walking calamity. Personally, I can't understand why Brendan is so hesitant with Sakho. Think he's our best centre back so wouldn't be surprised to see him come back in, in a couple weeks.

Why are they even in the game? The game should be about picking the players that scores the most points, not buying stocks to earn money.

Game would buy too static & you could just copy.

But why copy the managers you are trying to beat?

Also, it would still be about owning the right players at the right time. You just wouldn't get double punishment for owning a player that doesn't reward you with any points.

It's silly and stupid IMO. I had a great plan to get 2x City for next week, now ruined.

It's not ruined if you beat the changes.

But I don't want any City this week. I want them the week after.

Can't be strategic due to people's knees.

To reward early buyers I guess. Prevent a ridiculously higher ownership and punish the slow to act.

But the slow to act get punished by missing out on points, don't they? Why do they have to be punished by being priced out of owning the player even after their opponents has reaped the rewards?

        I don't get it.

Price changes are the best part of the game.

I think it's already toppled. you really do have to sell to avoid the drop now.

If you think Wally will do well, then keep through the drop.

If he performs, his price will soon rise again.

I doubt that. You will still have no certainty whether he will start the following game especially as Sanchez comes closer to being 100%.

That's ok. He can be sold for that one. 😎

I have no idea whether he'll do well or not. And that's why I'd like to wait it out - and see.

But that strips me of the opportunity of getting good players as replacements later.

There are good players other than the ones you lined up. If you're so sure of your plan, act now.
If not, suck it up like the rest of us!

I'm not sure what's worse, selling Walcott or using the funds to buy an injured Yaya Toure. I'll be drinking from a brown paper bag next.

I'm keeping him. I wasn't going to until I saw all this Theo bashing, he seems like a nice boy and that's all you need to stay in my team. Price drops be damned!

I think FFFix are playing the safe card. If they confirm Wally will drop, it will cause a mass panic- which will cause him to drop.

You buy a player, he has a bad week, you sell him, he has a great week. You know that's the way FPL works right? Yet you still sell 😕

Bad form lasts forever in the minds of people here. What happened last week means they're the players to have.

That is dependant on the player actually playing

Yeah but if you don't sell he's benched or does nothing and gets injured. So...

    Which is the better combo?

    1) Ayew and Sakho

    2) Payet and Gomis
