The Weekend Team News

Christian Eriksen remains sidelined for Tottenham’s home clash with Everton. Arsene Wenger has central defensive concerns ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle, Diafra Sakho is expected to overcome a groin problem for the Hammers, whilst Palace receive mixed injury news in midfield ahead of their visit to the Bridge.

Arsene Wenger could be without both his first choice centre-backs once again at Newcastle this weekend. Per Mertesacker is still sick, while Laurent Koscielny will be assessed later today – the former is less likely to be fit, according to the Gunners boss. Danny Welbeck is progressing well following his knee injury and could return after the international break.

Diafra Sakho looks likely to overcome a groin problem in time to face Liverpool, according to Slaven Bilic. Elsewhere, Kevin Nolan has left the Hammers by mutual consent.

Brendan Galloway remains a doubt for Everton after being forced off with a knee problem last weekend. Roberto Martinez has also confirmed that John Stones “will be ready” to face Spurs, despite Chelsea’s ongoing interest.

Mile Jedinak suffered a hamstring injury in the midweek Capital one Cup clash, and will be out of action for two to three weeks, suggests Alan Pardew. Meanwhile Pardew has revealed that Yannick Bolasie will return to the Palace squad this weekend, following the death of his father last week. Connor Wickham could return from a rib injury, though Julian Speroni remains out and is expected to return to full training next week.

Watford have no fresh injury worries but will be without summer signing Miguel Britos, who is set to serve a three-match ban for violent conduct after being sent off in the Capital One Cup earlier this week.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Christian Eriksen remains sidelined with a knee injury. Andros Townsend is back in training however, and could be available. Pochettino has also admitted it’s unlikely that he’ll start new boy Clinton Njie due to fitness reasons, whilst the Spurs boss confirmed that Danny Rose – who has yet to start a league match – is now fully fit after sustaining a problem against Real Madrid during pre-season.

Norwich boss Alex Neil has stated that the club have suspended forward Lewis Grabban until next Tuesday, due to disciplinary reasons. Martin Olsson is expected to step up his recovery with a run out for the U21’s today.

Sadio Mane looks set to be available for Southampton’s clash with Norwich. The Senegal international recovered from a hip injury sustained at the weekend and was an unused sub in last night’s Europa League loss to FC Midtylland.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Does anyone else think that we are perhaps being deceived by Yaya Toure's stats so far this season?

He has scored 2 goals and notched 2 assists in 3 games and after going up in value is £8.8m...However out of these, all but 1 assist occurred when Sergio Aguero was off the pitch. From this it is clear to see that when Aguero doesn't start or goes off, Yaya naturally or has instructions to push up from his deep midfield position and has been successful at this so far. We also saw this in Yaya's dominant 2013/2014 season where he got 20 goals and 9 assists, a season where Aguero was injured for the most part, meaning Yaya was on penalties and was required to push up the pitch into more attacking positions. Then contrastingly last season when Aguero played significantly more games, Yaya only achieved 10 goals and 1 assist. Therefore is it really worth relying on an £8.8m midfielder who's main points only seem to come when the star striker is off the pitch?

On the other hand David Silva has clocked 3 assists in 3 games this season (and should have also been given a goal which FPL gave to Toure) and comes in at a £10.1m. Yes some of these occurred when Aguero was off the pitch but because of his advanced positioning in the hole and the fact he is on most corners and some other set pieces, we can trust Silva to deliver in a more consistent manner. This is shown in his scoring history from previous seasons, where he has achieved at least 12 assists each season for the last 4 campaigns and also notched an average of 7.25 goals per season in that time (scoring 12 goals last season). This shows that Silva does not require the absence of Aguero to rack up the points and so arguably justifies the extra £1.3m to be your City midfielder of choice.

...But could the arrival of Kevin De Bruyne spoil the party for both Yaya and Silva to become an essential fantasy asset, with 10 goals and 20 assists for Wolfsburg last season, I don't think we would be too surprised!?

Silva is gold dust and worthy of any team. I have YaYa simply to accommodate other choices, otherwise I'd pick Dave.

Agreed, to some extent. It's all about whether the additional 1.3M can upgrade another player to an extent that outweighs the points difference between Yaya and Silva.

Also, I didn't pay 8.8M, I paid 8.5M, so it's not an accurate comparison to say, "is he worth 8.8M?"

I think its not so much aguero this year, its the fixtures, home to chelsea and away to in form everton meant he has had to sit back but this week im sure he will be more advanced, i think he will outscore silva this year with free kicks and occsional penalties and the fact hes bossing it at the minute

Everton keyed on him (Aguero) with mids and Stones and Jags. That's when Man C decided to attack on the wings heavily. He could regain form easily starting this week...

To play devil's advocate (I have Silva in my team)

Silva is more consistent alright but Yaya is potentially much more explosive.

The other thing is is that Silva, for all his brilliance, is not a great finisher.

Another thing is, Silva is injury prone whereas Yaya rarely misses a minute.

G2G or a one of the below options?

    Myhill
    Gomez, Kolarov, Richards
    Sánchez, Yaya, Payet, Mahrez
    Agüero(c), Pellè, Gomis

    (McCarthy, Westwood, Darmian, Ward)
    £1.4m itb.

    a) Payet > Cout (-4)
    b) Pelle > Wilson (-4)
    c) no hit.

C - cant drop Pelle at home to Norwich for -4. Banking on him doing nothing and Wilson scoring more than 1 to get you anything other than 2 points.

Son was very good in the WC. I haven't watched much of him at Leverkusen but won me a few anytime goalscorer bets. I'll certainly be keeping my eye on him, but with all Spurs players at the moment, until the window shuts and I see who they field in the Europa League I'll be staying well clear.

      Fabianski/McCarthy

      Gomez, Cedric, Kolarov, Azp (oxford)

      Hazard, Yaya, Mahrez, Ayew, Payet

      Gomis, Aguero (Kone)

      1FT, 0.3 bank.

I have a local derby (H2H) this weekend, and my opponent has almost the same team as mine but with Cech and Damian

      1) Should I take a hit -4 for Pedro & Albrighton from Ayew & Payet sale? what are the pros and cons...please

      thanks in advance
