Especially for £5.5m, bringing him in for Payet after GW5 would free up a big £2m and I'd be left with £4m ITB, it's certainly worth considering.

Doesn't help that Wham and Soton crashed out early. Those Europa League points are the easy ones. The new seeding system doesn't really encourage teams to improve their rank. It's either win or nothing.

Lukaku,Sterling and a few others were starting regularly for Premier League teams at that age.
Not that I would agree with him starting but couldn't the desperate times for Man Utd mean he does?

True, but they had plenty of experience in the premier league before their regular starts. Martial is raw compared to them. I would expect him to feature in the first-team plans, but mainly come off the bench or start in the cup competitions, and a handful of leage games. Not one to consider for fpl

Big difference between the words probably and is. I haven't decided anything. I am just pointing out that Murray is a noted penalty taker (he has taken them for all previous clubs) and it has to be a good probability that he will take them for Bournemouth.

I still reckon Ritchie is on pen's.

Wilson only took it because he was on his hattrick. This coming from a wilson owner.

      Weird question..
If you were told by Marty McFly that Shelvey would ge 10 assists and 5 goals over this season @5.5 but not told which weeks he'd get em in would you put him in your team and stick with him all season as your 4th mid and play him every week?

          • 14 Years
          8 years, 8 months ago

Yup.. for a 4th mid. Would 150 points be enough? or would you rather try to get 180 by rotating in the sub 6.0 range based on fixtures/form?

      4. Slam
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 8 months ago

        Honestly, not imo.
Even if that were true, I would play someone around that price range who is in form and scoring goals/assists (much like Mahrez and Sako now. Possibly Gradel in future.)

        1. Valar(Keith)
          • 14 Years
          8 years, 8 months ago

Would you not rather the safety net of 150 points instead of gambling with that spot to get more? Shelvey could be any 5.5 mid. hypothetical situation..

          1. Slam
            • 8 Years
            8 years, 8 months ago

I guess I would. 130-160 points for a 5.5 mid would be amazing.
Unfortunetely, if I have a player that is not performing well statistically speaking for a couple of weeks in a row, (and have no other pressing matters at hand) I tend to transfer such player out for another in the sub 6.5 market based on form/fixtures.

As someone who regularly watches Swansea in the flesh I would advise against putting him in your team.

          - Don't get me wrong, he is a great player, one of my favourites to watch actually. The problem is that more often than not this season it will be Ayew and Gomis that get the lions share of the points.

He's one of those players who managers would love to have in their team but there are better FPL than him imo.

He also tends to have 'off days' where he seems to be knowwhere. At least when Ayew and Gomis have off days they can still sneak a goal. The same won't happen with Shelvey.

          Anyway, GL

Creating the number of chances he is and now having both of Ayew and Gomis to supply...plus kicks...It's impossible that he won't score good pts in such a good attacking team....and he likes a shot himself.

            Patience.

I certainly don't disagree with what you're saying, and as I said I'm a big fan of his. I just think there are better ways of structuring a FPL midfield. But hey, we are all different!

What it allows is three heavy hitting mids (if you can fin three that are delivering)

So whilst we all know that Silva, Sanchez and Hazard will score a bucket full of pts in the end (above everybody else) we can't have all three to begin with very easily, unless we make a compromise somewhere. Shelvey is a good compromise.

          2. Valar(Keith)
            • 14 Years
            8 years, 8 months ago

He can sneak in an assist on his off days though 🙂
I do agree that Ayew/Gomis are better options but they take up 1.5+ more of the budget and are competing with a lot of players in the sub 8.0 price range from other teams. Shelvey should be good for a healthy 4ppg over the season for patient managers.

            Got a question though..
With Ki back will Cork(playing fantastic) get dropped for easy home games for him? or will Ki just play when the form of one of the mids drops?

In the immediate future, Shelvey will be the one constant out of Shelvey, Ki and Cork. I can however foresee a time where Ki and Cork will start if Shelveys form drops.

But for now it will be Shelvey and Cork or Shelvey and Ki

No, you'd still judge on form. Besides, it doesn't necessarily mean he'll have returns for 15 out of 38 games

          • 14 Years

You dunno which games he'll play.. so you got to play him every week for 38 weeks.. he can get the returns in 5 games for all it matters 🙂 .. at the end of the day you'll get 150 points for that spot. Or would you rather swap players based on form and try to get a higher points total for your 4th mid spot?

Yup.. but would it be enough for you to play him every week as a 4th or would you get greedy and chase other players around based on form and fixture? 🙂 .. Btw Henderson got those figures last season and got 162 points(one extra goal though)

Would really depends on how many heavy hitters are performing I suppose.

Henderson grinds his way to good pts every year.

This.. These kind of players require the most patience though. you cant get em in for an easy run of 4 games and expect great points. it's a long term buy or stay away.

That's exactly why I have him...because he probably will.

Yup. Planning on just leaving him in all season. Rather that then try to chase players based on form/fixtures for that spot in the sub 6.0 market.. which is a very unpredictable market really.

Shelvey with one of Sako/Ouncheon/Bolasie will get good pts at fourth and fifth mid.

I was thinking this as well actually 🙂
                Chadli -> Puncheon
                Pelle -> Benteke
                Pedro -> Sanchez (Got Haz)
These are some of the transfers on my mind for the next couple of weeks 🙂

You still have your WC Valar?

Yup. holding onto it until GW 12+ ..
Got Benteke/Hazard/Chadli/Sanchez who i'm not really happy with but i'm playing the long term game with them(though Chadli leaves after sunderland from that lot 🙂 )

Yup, 3 points from 4 games is a very poor start from Spurs.
Against a Sunderland squad who look horrible at the back I reckon Chadli and Spurs could easily dominate.
I'm not worried about the big hitters not performing. Hazard/Aguero are still in my team for the time being.

Of course - unless I saw better returns for a similar Mahrezesque price. He'd be in a 3-way rotation with one of the forwards.

Arsenal the only team in the top 5 leagues across Europe to not buy an outfield player this summer!!!!

There was a tweet a couple days ago about sacking Wenger for someone who will buy a striker or two and a CDM then re-hiring him. If only the board listened to this anonymous genius.

So another friend od mine (playing for the first time) took a 36pt hit in GW2, because he forgot to pres the WC button...in the next GW he eventually used his wildcard because of a bad result...fair enough, his rank is 200k better than mine 🙂
