Paddy Says – Gameweek 7

Our regular Saturday morning wake-up call finds us peering through Paddy Power’s window to decipher their reckoning on how and where the goals will be scored for the Gameweek.

Before we scan their odds for Anytime Goalscorer and Clean Sheets, we should give you the heads up on a pair of stellar offers set up by our bookmaker friends for this weekend.

New Paddy Power accounts can take advantage of huge odds of 25/1 on a treble that backs Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea for wins in the Gameweek. You’ll also get your money back as a free bet if that treble loses.

Secondly, Paddy have a Sunday special, with 8/1 offered on both Watford and Palace to score in their Vicarage Road clash. Again, you’ll get your money back via a bet if you lose out.

Be sure to check the teams and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

A resurgent Manchester United outfit has a strong showing in Paddy’s assessment, with Anthony Martial – who’s notched three goals in two outings since his switch to the Premier League – the favourite to score in the Gameweek at 1.61. Ahead of the Red Devils’ home tie against a Sunderland side that’s ranked top for goals conceded (13) this term, Wayne Rooney (1.72) places second on the leaderboard. Memphis Depay (2.10) and James Wilson (2.25) also feature in the top 10, with the bookmaker covering their bases against the floundering Black Cats.

Sergio Aguero is knocked off his perch, then, but handed short odds (1.83) to record his second league goal of the campaign during a trip to Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City’s prime marksman bagged eight goals in his past four meetings with the North London club so will fancy his chances to score at White Hart Lane.

Back from injury and seeking full match sharpness, Daniel Sturridge (1.90) will look to get off the mark at home to Aston Villa, having made his first start of the season against Norwich City. The Reds frontman carded just two goal attempts last Gameweek but will be encouraged by the fact that the Villains have shipped five goals in their previous two road clashes.

Alexis Sanchez is the top ranked midfielder in Paddy’s list. Together with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, the Arsenal trio are all tipped at 2.10 as the Gunners gear up for a trip to Leicester City. Arsene Wenger’s side sit top of the league for attempts (121), shots inside the box (83) and big chances but have just four goals to their name. The Foxes are yet to register a clean sheet, though, which serves as a boost for Arsenal’s attacking credentials.

In the absence of Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy are priced at 2.40 on the eve of a visit to Newcastle. Regardless of who Jose Mourinho elects to start, the chosen striker will fancy their chances against a Magpies rearguard that’s failed to keep a clean sheet in three home fixtures. Eden Hazard is placed just outside our table with odds on 2.75 on an anytime goal at St James’ Park.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 7

TeamOdds
Manchester United1.72
Liverpool2.10
Chelsea2.37
Southampton2.50
Manchester City2.87
West Ham2.87
Watford2.87
Everton2.87

Manchester United (1.72) are the favourites by some margin to record a shut-out as they face off against a Sunderland attack that’s drawn back-to-back blanks. Liverpool (2.10) are next in line ahead of the Villains’ visit, despite conceding seven goals in their previous three outings.

Chelsea (2.37) claimed their first clean sheet of the campaign against Arsenal last Gameweek and are pitted against a Newcastle side that’s scored one goal in the last five Gameweeks. Although they conceded three goals against Man United, Southampton (2.50) boast three clean sheets in four matches ahead of Swansea City’s visit.

There are a quartet of clubs (Man City, West Ham, Watford, Everton) priced at 2.87 to rebuff their opponent’s advances. Manuel Pellegrini’s rearguard will be tested at White Hart Lane, although Spurs have just three league goals in their last four outings and have scored more than one goal in the league just once, back in the Gameweek 2 draw with Stoke. Meanwhile, West Ham’s odds look a little generous given that they host a Norwich outfit that’s only failed to score in one league outing this term.

The Watford backline is yet to be breached at home this season ahead of the Eagles’ visit to Vicarage Road. Elsewhere, the Toffees travel to face a Baggies attack that’s only netted in one match-up at the Hawthorns this campaign.

Why the love for WBrom CS?

They have only 1 CS at home, and Everton is visiting (they usually score in these matches).
