The Weekend Team News

Laurent Koscielny is ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with United. Winston Reid emerges as a doubt for the Hammers. Palace are without four injured players for the visit of West Brom. Stoke are sweating on Xherdan Shaqiri’s fitness, Jordy Clasie returns to contention ahead of Southampton’s trip to Chelsea, whilst Claudio Ranieri admits that Jamie Vardy has played the last three league outings with a broken wrist.

Laurent Koscielny, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini have all been ruled out of Arsenal’s home clash with United this weekend. Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Koscielny is expected to be sidelined for three weeks with a hamstring problem.

Slaven Bilic could be without Winston Reid at the weekend, with the defender doubtful after “feeling something in his back or hip area”. Andy Carroll is also a concern, and will be assessed having trained with the fitness coaches this week. Meanwhile, Angelo Ogbonna remains sidelined for the Sunderland clash. In more positive news, Enner Valencia has returned to full training following a knee injury though is still “a few weeks” away from being involved within the squad again.

Connor Wickham, Mile Jedinak, Joel Ward and Damian Delaney all remain sidelined for the weekend after missing out at Watford through injury .The quartet are expected to return against West Ham following the international break, according to Alan Pardew.

Claudio Ranieri has revealed that Nathan Dyer is back in training following a knee injury, though the weekend comes too soon for the winger. The Leicester manager has also confirmed that Jamie Vardy is currently playing with a broken wrist sustained against Aston Villa in Gameweek 5.

Xherdan Shaqiri faces a battle to be fit for the trip to Villa Park. The summer signing has failed to train this week with an ongoing hamstring complaint, whilst Marc Wilson is also a concern for the Potters with a calf problem. Mark Hughes has also confirmed that Ryan Shawcross is back in training with the reserves as he steps up his recovery from a back injury. The Potters boss is looking to organise a couple of friendlies to quicken up his skipper’s return to action.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed it’s still “too early” to decide whether injured pair John Stones and Seamus Coleman will be available for Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

Southampton have received a boost ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge after summer arrival Jordy Clasie was passed fit after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Alex Neil has confirmed there are no new injuries for Norwich ahead of the home clash against Leicester. Youssouf Mulumbu is back in light training, whilst Gary Hooper is two weeks away from a return.

Brendan Rodgers has conceded there is “no real change with injuries” ahead of Sunday’s Merseyside derby. Christian Benteke is to be assessed over the next 24 hours but the squad is likely to be the same as last weekend.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Is anyone eyeing Wallcott as a replacement for Yaya?

Who else? I am selling if he is dropping, and he is at -81% at the moment.

In the long run, is he worth considering instead of Mata, KDB, Pedro and Hazard?

    Got:

    Beg
    Kol Francis Bellerin (Skrtel Nyom)
    Sanchez Toure Payet Mahrez (Sinclair)
    Vardy Ag Gomis

Done FT..Would you leave Toure and hope he is fine, or get him out but for who?

Also Francis to play rather than Skrtel, as can't see Pool keeping a cleanie at all whereas Francis might?.

    B) Toby, Nyom, Francis

I have checked the rotations and don't need a perfect rotation (i.e.Bou and Wat)

Watford are great at the back, and Francis gets forward, so for a cheap rotation, Francis with Prodl/Nyom works well.

        • 9 Years

There is no point in the rotation as you wont play Francis for the next 6-8 weeks

      2. pompeyfan
        • 14 Years
        8 years, 7 months ago

they are not 'great' at the back. They've had 3 cleansheets in 7 which is good, especially for a promoted team, but bear in mind that often promoted teams have a good start and then start to struggle.

Francis is nearly as good a wing back as Kolarov.

I don't really belive in all this rotation business. If you have 1 or 2 solid defensive picks, then fill the rest up with 4.5m or 5.0m and rotate (best fixtures) in a backline of 3.

    Overall thoughts on KDB?

are we still worried because he is new, and could blank for a while?

or are we sure that he is settled already, just a good fit for the League?

plus city have great fixtures. I can decide whether 3 city players are essential, but I am sure atleast 2 are.

If I wasnt spending so much on Sergio I think i would jump right in.....

Silva? KDB? YYT? Sergio? Kolarov? Kompany? Zabaleta?

They have great fixtures and are the most consistent scorers in the league, so 3 is worth it...

Aguero and Kolarov are mainstays for me.

Then it's a straight choice between Silva and KDB. KDB wins it for me purely because he gets more minutes. Once Silva comes off, KDB moves to the centre and this is when teams concede against City after defending for the previous 70-80 minutes.

Plus KDB is quite greedy, always good for FPL.

I was just looking for this exact post!

I am thinking Wallcott, or Silva/KDB if you have the funds. Mata is also a great option, and with the cheaper ones you will get what you pay for, which is less or at least more uncertainty. I have a FT and would play Ayew or Gomis instead of Yaya, but considering is dropping I will have to move him on. I suggest you do the same.

Is anyone switching to enablers such as Hoolahan or Sako or is that just ridiculous?

Alright, think the Wildcard Rocket has come in to land. unless anything crazy happens between now and 11am I will be on this

    DDG, Hennessey

    Kolarov, Dawson, Dier, Francis/Nyom

    Sanchez, Mahrez, Payet, Mata, Westwood

    Pelle, Aguero, Vardy

At the moment I am 0.1 short, so I am hoping that Myhill or Barkley etc go up by another 0,1, what are the chances? If that doesnt happen, I will have to do Westwood down to someone like Gosling @4.4

    Thoughts?

if i wanted a city mid, I would go Payet to Kouyate and Mata to KDB

Start Coates (WHU) or Bellerin (MUN) ?

I'm already starting Mata, Martial and Özil, so I'm leaning towards Coates at the moment..

    Advice much appreciated 🙂

Haha, do NOT play Coates. He has been awful, full of cards and mistakes.

      Do it.

But I would rather go Sakho than Vardy, with the reports of Vardy playing with an injury.

Trailing (quite badly) in my mini league. Who should I captain?

    A) Aguero
    B) KDB
    C) Sanchez
    D) Sakho

Currently on KDB, but don't think I can take a Aguero haul if he's not my (C).

You guys think Lukaku might rise tonight?

It will be tight. If I had to guess I would say no. He needs 2100 transfers netto in and most people have done their transfers early this week with the whole Wilson -> Vardy bandwagon. Yaya is also a question mark, and lots of people will hold off on Lukaku because of fixtures or go with Martial or Pelle as better options in the same price bracket or go budget to funds Silva/KDB etc.

Why do everyone ship Yaya? Isn't he expected to be fit for the weekend? And if not, he surely will recover during the national weekend?

Fitness issues, also better options in City midfield eg Silva, KDB and arguably even Sterling

Yaya has done pretty well till now? Anyway, he will probably get fit if not for the weekend, he will recover for next GW and then be a solid option for his price?

we'll have to wait and see for the Pellegrini press conference I guess, hope he'll give any clues
