Paddy Says – Gameweek 10

Without an early kick-off to trigger an 11.45 deadline, we have more time than usual to consider our options before the bell tolls. That gives us plenty of opportunity to welcome Paddy Power’s thoughts on just where the goals will and won’t be scored over Gameweek 10.

Before we consider Paddy’s Anytime Goalscorer and Clean Sheet odds, let’s have a scan of the offers that our bookmaker buddies are dealing over the weekend.

First up, there’s a tasty treble on offer with odds of 18/1 on victories for Chelsea (at West Ham), Arsenal (at home to Everton) and Real Madrid (at Celta Vigo). New Customers can also get the chance to collect over £300 in free bets until the end of the season if they bet £10 on a weekly basis.

The second Saturday offering drops in on the Emirates tea-time clash as the Gunners face off against Everton. Those of you who go without Alexis Sanchez as their skipper can attempt to cover themselves with a flutter on an Arsenal victory at 4/1; the regular odds on that result is 4/9.

Paddy are all over Sunday’s derby matches. First up, new customers can get a huge 9/1 on a Newcastle win in the Wear-Tyne derby at noon (regular odds 9.5). Following that, they can also pick up either 8/1 on a Man United victory or 9/1 on a City win in the 2pm kick-off at Old Trafford.

Be sure to check the teams and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

An Arsenal trio of Theo Walcott, Olivier Grioud and Alexis Sanchez (all at 1.90) are joint favourites to score this weekend as Arsene Wenger’s side play host to Everton. All three are in fine goalscoring form, with Walcott having notched two goals in his last five league outings, while Sanchez boasts six in three starts. Considering that the Gunners racked up 11 goals in their previous trio of match-ups, Paddy are covering all the bases here and their odds seem to reinforce Sanchez’ position at the top of our Captain Poll.

Following the Gunners contingent, we find Chelsea’s Diego Costa – tipped at 2.00 ahead of the trip to West Ham United. The Spain international has struggled to exert his influence this term, averaging a shot just once every 48.8 minutes, but he did grace the scoresheet last time out against Aston Villa. The Hammers have conceded eight goals across their last four home ties, a factor which supports Paddy’s confidence in the Blues and, in particular, Costa’s claim for goals. Out of interest, Eden Hazard has odds of 3.10 on an anytime goal.

Both Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke (2.29) are tied ahead of their meeting with Southampton at Anfield. The Reds ranked third for attempts (69) and shots on target (26) across the last four Gameweeks but suffered from a 7.2% shot-conversion rate. With Sturridge still troubled by a knee complaint, Benteke is the most likely to get minutes against the Saints, with Paddy clearly fancying goals for the home side in this one; meanwhile, Graziano Pelle is out at 3.10 for the visitors.

Jamie Vardy is handed identical odds to extend his scoring streak to seven consecutive matches as the Foxes take on Palace at the King Power. Vardy is pushing Sanchez close for the armband as we head into the 2pm deadline and, while Paddy’s odds show confidence, it should be noted that Palace have shipped just three goals in four league outings on the road and have allowed just a single Big Chance to their opponents – fewer than any other side in the league on their travels.

Harry Kane’s odds have dropped from 2.29 to 2.50 overnight to reflect his current form and perhaps the fact that Spurs could be leggy following Thursday’s Europa League exploits. The misfiring frontman has only notched one goal this campaign but Kane will look to profit from a Bournemouth rearguard that places top for big chances conceded (15) over the last four Gameweeks.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 10

TeamOdds
Stoke City2.29
Arsenal2.29
Norwich2.40
Liverpool2.70
Swansea City2.75
Tottenham2.80
Chelsea2.87

Having recorded shut-outs in their last two matches, Stoke are tipped at 2.29 to rebuff the advances of Watford. The Hornets rank bottom of the league for goals scored (six) this term and tallied the fewest shots on target (nine) of any side in the past four Gameweeks.

Arsenal are tied with the Potters at the top of Paddy’s reckoning. Wenger’s charges will draw encouragement from the fact that the Toffees have drawn blanks in two of their last three road matches, whilst pointing to their own home defensive record which shows just two goals conceded from four matches, allowing just 20 shots from inside the box (ranked third).

Norwich City come in next at 2.40 as they gear up for a Carrow Road meeting with West Brom. The Canaries are yet to register a clean sheet but are pitted against a Baggies outfit that ranks bottom for Big Chances created away from home – Tony Pulis’ men have mustered just two from their four away trips and only Newcastle have registered fewer goal attempts.

Liverpool clock in at 2.70 for Saints’ visit – this despite the visitors nothing an impressive 10 goals in their last four matches. Swansea City (2.75) are price similarly for their trip to Aston Villa, given that Tim Sherwood’s troops have only scored in one of their four home ties thus far.

Tottenham (2.80) and Chelsea (2.87) round off our assessment of clean-sheet prospects. Spurs go in search of their fifth clean sheet in seven match-ups when they pay a visit to the Cherries. Meanwhile, the Blues will need to stifle a Hammers attack that ranks second for goals scored (20) this campaign.
