Gameweek 24 delivers two final rolls of the dice before we retrain our sights on the weekend’s action. Everton cross swords with Newcastle United as they strive to card their first victory in six outings, whilst in the other 7.45 pm kick-off, Watford host a Chelsea outfit that’s not tasted defeat since Gameweek 16.
The Toffees’ attack flattered to deceive over the previous four Gameweeks, ranking joint-second-bottom for shots on target (11) and recording the second-worst shot accuracy (22.9%). Those Fantasy managers who’ve sourced attacking assets from Newcastle will certainly draw encouragement from the fact that no team has shipped more goals at home (22) than Everton. On that note, the Magpies placed top for shots inside the box (44) and second for shots on target (24) between Gameweeks 20-23, which bodes well for their trip to Goodison Park.
Chelsea are a different proposition under Guus Hiddink’s reign, as evidenced by the fact they charted joint-top for goals (nine) and big chances (nine) over the previous four Gameweeks. Furthermore, only three teams surpassed their haul of accurate attempts (18) across that stretch. Having ended a four-match losing streak with a win over Newcastle in the previous round of fixtures, the Hornets will look to improve their threat in the final third, given that they’ve registered the joint-second-fewest goals (three) and shots inside the box (20) over Gameweek 20-23.

I think from here on in is the time to see good progression in the ranks given that on a few select Gameweeks we may be able to capitalize on players missing, etc. This is where the skill of careful planning and management of transfers comes in. It is one of the few times we actually have some sort of control over the game (in a way).
GW27: Blanks for Man City, Newcastle, Everton, Liverpool
- Aguero (30%), Sagna (27%), Kolarov (19.5%), Yaya (16.5%)
- Lukaku (46.5%), Barkley (36%)
- Clyne (20.9%)
- Wijnaldum (15.5%)
GW 30: Blank for PL teams (and their GW30 opponent) that win in the FA Cup 5th round that takes place between GW26 and GW27. Replays (any draws) for the FA Cup 5th round will take place in GW30. So the likelihood is that there will only be 3 or 4 fixtures in GW30
Leicester v Newcastle (guaranteed)
Stoke v Southampton (guaranteed)
Bournemouth v Swansea (if Everton beat Bournemouth) (quite likely)
Norwich v Man City (if Chelsea beat Man City) (hard to call)
DGW #1:
[Newcastle v Man City] + other fixture TBD depending on the GW
[Liverpool v Everton] + other fixture TBD depending on the GW
DGW #2: Those that miss a fixture in GW30 will most likely have it rescheduled for GW34. If we take the most likely outcomes of the FA Cup 5th round, we can propose that DGW34 could look as follows. Below I'm presuming Chelsea and Man City draw in the FA Cup and need a replay.
Arsenal (WBA, CRY)
Aston Villa (TOT, mun)
Chelsea (liv, MCI)
Crystal Palace (mun, ars)
Everton (sun, SOT)
Liverpool (CHE, bou)
Man City (nor, che)
Man United (CRY, AVL)
Norwich (MCI, SUN)
Spurs (avl, sto)
Sunderland (EVE, nor)
Watford (whu, wba)
West Brom (ars, WAT)
West Ham (WAT, lei)
This means Newcastle, Swansea, Leicester, Stoke, Bournemouth and Southampton players would have just a single game during the DGW.
Please correct me if on any mistakes as I am still trying to grasp my head around the lot in a holistic way 😕 so many hypotheticals involved
