The Weekend Team News

Dele Alli is back in training but will be assessed ahead of Spurs’ clash with Watford. Andy Carroll could be back for West Ham, Palace are hit with long-term injuries to a couple of key midfielders, whilst West Brom’s Jonny Evans is ruled out for a fortnight with hamstring problems.

Dele Alli will be assessed tomorrow after being withdrawn early on due to dizziness in the midweek win over Norwich. Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the midfielder is back in full training, saying “all the signals are good” ahead of the home encounter against Watford. Ryan Mason will also be assessed as he steps up his recovery from injury.

Andy Carroll returned to training on Monday and will be assessed ahead of West Ham’s trip to Southampton. New loan signing Emmanuel Emenike is also available after receiving his work permit, whilst Angelo Ogbonna will “hopefully” be fit, according to Slaven Bilic, after missing the midweek win over Villa due to illness. Sam Byram has been ruled out for a week after sustaining a small injury in training.

Tomas Rosicky could be out for up to three months after suffering an injury setback whilst on duty for the arsenal under 21 side. Danny Welbeck is set to step up his recovery with a run-out for the Gunners’ second-string later today.

Palace midfielders James McArthur (ankle ligaments) and Jason Puncheon (hamstring) are set for lengthy spells on the sidelines, with the former likely to miss the rest of the season. Joe Ledley remains out for two more weeks with a thigh injury, though Alan Pardew reckons Yohan Cabaye has a “very good” chance of returning from injury, whilst Dwight Gayle is available after returning to full training. Emmanuel Adebayor is “almost ready” to start and will have another cameo appearance, though Connor Wickham misses out through suspension.

Claudio Ranieri will make a late decision on the fitness of new signing Daniel Amartey ahead of Leicester’s trip to City tomorrow lunchtime.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe reckons Josh King – who made an appearance off the bench in midweek – is now up to full fitness. Junior Stanislas remains a doubt, though, with the Cherries set to make a late decision on the winger’s fitness.

Jeremain Lens is a major doubt for Sunderland after being forced off with a groin problem in midweek. Yann M’Vila is expected to shrug off a foot problem to continue in the centre of the park, whilst Younes Kaboul is back in the squad after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Jonny Evans has been ruled out for a couple of weeks with the hamstring injury that forced him off against Swansea. James Morrison and Chris Brunt also remain on the sidelines for the Baggies, Tony Pulis has confirmed.

Ki Sung-Yueng has been ruled out of Swansea’s clash with Palace after being forced off with concussion in the 1-1 draw with West Brom. New manager Francesco Guidolin has revealed that Alberto Paloschi “could” be in line for a first start on the back of an impressive sub performance at the Hawthorns.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Looking to get in a differential midfielder for Stanislas, but also to give me 5 man midfield for GW27 when benching Aguero. 3 fixtures up to GW27 in brackets:

    A) Kouyate/Antonio (sot nor SUN - already have Payet)
    B) Siggy/Ayew (CPL SOT tot)
    C) Arnautovic (EVE bou AVL)
    D) Tadic (WHM swa CHE)
    E) Willian (MUN NEW sot)

If going for A or B, could you say your preference? Thanks! 🙂

Exactly my conundrum at the moment. Same suspects that I thought about as well but my budget is only 6.6m which brought Shaquiri onto my radar - EVE and Stoke had a good game last time - both he and Arnie are FPL goodies as they like to hog the ball !!!

Hadn't thought of Shaqiri! That Villa game in GW27 is tempting too for Shaq/Arnie...

All about the minutes played - Shaq more exciting IMO though ! I think Stoke are just about over the C1C semi final disappointment, spent some big money in the window so hopefully they can kick on again.

Still cant decide who to bench. Starting to lean towards Payet....

    A. Ighalo (tot)
    B. Mahrez (mci)
    C. Payet (sot)

It's between B and C, Bubz. I'd bench Payet (Soton are looking really solid of late) over Mahrez (incredibly high ownership), though.

    Morning, everyone!

From 7k to 190k overall in just a few weeks was shocking. Hit the WC button this week, so I'd appreciate some comments, please.

    Hart, Hennessey
    Azpi, Monreal, Alder, Williams, Targett
    Sanchez, Firmino, Alli, Mahrez, Antonio
    Aguero, Kane, Vardy

    Thanks! 🙂

Ditch Targett, not nailed, and you'll need all of your players to be heading into GW30. Have a look at the possible GW30 scenarios, and stock up on players from teams with a guaranteed or very likely fixture that week. Get some Leicester defensive coverage, change your goalies around (you might very likely be without a GK in GW30 with your current line-up) and consider if Firmino really is worth it given how poor Liverpool really are.

      1. Cesc Pistols
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

        Wow, thanks a lot, Bibelnissen.

I'll definitely have a closer look into GW30. Regarding the further comments, I plan to do Williams to Fuchs/Huth/Simpson after Leicester play City and Arsenal; Firmino will go as well as I want Siggy/Ayew in the long run. Goalies wise, who do you I think I should get over Hennessey then?

I wouldn't want to exit a WC week with a load of planned transfers tbh. Get Simpson instead of Targett IMO.

If you want a Swansea mid in the long run, this week is as good as any to bring one in. As you have five strong defenders you can bench him for the toughest fixtures anyways. Firmino has two good games, then a blank, then two tough games and possible another blank (GW30).

For starters the one I'd ditch is Hart as he's way too expensive for his returns. Get Forster who is guaranteed a fixture in both GW27 and GW30 and just rotate him with Hennessey somewhat. Just my two cents. 🙂

            Again, great advices, mate. Thanks!

I can do Targett to Simpson right now, which does soung good. But if I do drop Hart, then I need either Sagna/Ota to cover City anyway (over Azpi, maybe?), I'm afraid.

Firmino is indeed a punt. I feel I need one if I want to climb up the ranks, so I'll give him a go and let's see what happens. These two weeks will also make it clear as to who to get from Siggy and Ayew, as they've been sharing points of late.

    3. Kun, Ayew Nigerian?
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

      Please bring in Forster.
      291 games, 147 CS.
4 CS in a row since return
      4.8M
Hart is overpriced compared to the points he churns out
Better still, sub off Hennessey who is likely to lose his position soon

Ok, I'm having a discussion on previous post with my Arsenal pal...Champ...

Ozil(c) a viable option? Or would you prefer Alexis(c)?

-Ozil has scores of 10,12 and 14 vs 3 promoted sides this season
-Was unlucky not to score double digits lastweek
    -Setpieces, loves BPS
-6 x double digit scores so far this season

Alexis a bigger goal threat you say?

Ozil only scored in 3 of those 6 fixtures above. Who needs goals.

    Thoughts?

    Butland, Hennessey
    Bellerin, Toby, Moreno, Ward, Smith
    Sanchez, Ozil, Payet, Mahrez, Alli
    Kun, Kane, Ighalo

    2FT's and .2 itb.

No idea what to do this week. Thinking maybe Ward -> Simpson? Anyone got any better suggestions?

      Few options..

      Ward -> Simpson
      Ighalo -> Afobe
      Moreno -> Daniels

I'd probably only make 1 transfer.

Cheers. Moreno - Daniels is tempting. Could then do Smith - Simpson before GW27.

He's still in bad form - but with Vardy's two tricky fixtures, I'll try to find a differential elsewhere in my team!

    Hi guys,

this is my team for this week GW25
    Cech
    Sagna/Monreal/Dier
    Ozil/Maharez/Barkley/Alli
    Kane/Vardy/Aguero

Dont know who to put as captain, as I put Kane, since City vs Lecister.

should I put Aguero or Kane

Absolutely they are, but i really dont regret it since its a long term transfer not just two GW. If he gets more points than Vardy from now on, fair enough. I just said somewhere above, in form striker for a top of the league team vs out of form mid table team striker. Makes sense to me even with harder games.

Lets say there's only 3 fixtures in GW30, is it wise to wildcard for a full team that GW?? or just play with 7/8/9 players??

No, fielding 7-9 is fine in that scenario. Most will, and very few will be even close to a full team.

Maybe a take an extra hit or two for that week, then WC the week after to clean up the mess.

True, if I had 9 then I'd be happy with it, but if I had 7 I'd be more likely to want to get a few more players. All I'd want is defenders as well haha, might end up playing 4-3-3 that week

Depends on the teams. I think it's ok to have 3 Leicester but filling up with Soton, Stoke and Sunderland is going to need a WC in order to make your team comptitive from GW31 onwards.

Chinese President goes to Man City and likes what he sees. He then goes home and tells his people to make football the No1 sport.

The transfer market is going to get crazy

What a disappointing state of affairs it is if professional footballers at the top of the game in Europe sell out and chase the $€£¥.
I get that they want to earn big cash, but surely you'd rather play in the best leagues against the best players and actually be challenged.

Still no clue what to do here.

    Foster/McCarthy
    Baines Cresswell Nyom Francis Wolly
    Ozil Eriksen Payet Mahrez Wanyama
    Lu-Ka-Ku

best i can come up with is

Eriksen/Payet > Alli/Sanchez for free. Any advice guys?
