Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 32 – Sunday

Wes Morgan grabs the only goal of the match as Leicester take a step nearer to the title with a fourth successive 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Anthony Martial leaps onto our double Gameweek radars by firing United to victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

Morgan wins it for Foxes

Leicester City stretched out their lead at the top to seven points by way of their fourth consecutive 1-0 win.

Wes Morgan did the damage for the hosts with his first goal of the campaign, latching onto Christian Fuchs’ cross. The latter now boasts four assists and has amassed the second-most bonus points (21) of any defender on the Fantasy market.

Although the Foxes lack a double Gameweek, they have now recorded shut-outs in seven of their previous eight home ties and remain at the King Power Stadium for two of the next three Gameweeks, encouraging investors in their defence to hold tight.

In the wake of his blank against Saints, Jamie Vardy has now failed to net in six successive starts, which will prompt a portion of his 54% ownership reinvest their funds in Romelu Lukaku before Everton’s back-to-back double Gameweeks.

As for Riyad Mahrez, his explosive potential (11 double-figure hauls) should deter many owners from maxing out on double Gameweek players.

Saints struggle on the road again

Southampton were stifled by the Foxes’ regimented defence and were only able to muster two shots on target throughout the encounter.

Ronald Koeman’s side have failed to score in three of their last five away matches and now hit the road in three of the next five Gameweeks, which includes trips to Everton and Spurs, in addition to a home encounter with Man City. Their lack of a double Gameweek and poor defensive record of late (nine goals conceded and zero clean sheets in six) render their squad a relative non-factor during the final stages of the season.

Martials notches United’s winner

Manchester United remain in the hunt for a Champions League berth as they carved out a third 1-0 victory in four outings.

Anthony Martial proved to be the difference between the two sides, bagging his third goal (Timothy Fosu-Mensah assist) in seven starts. Given that Wayne Rooney’s imminent return makes Marcus Rashford a rotation risk, the 7.6-priced Martial represents the choice route into the Red Devils’ attack for their mouth-watering double Gameweek (AVL & CRY).

Man United’s tenth home clean sheet of the campaign underlined the merits of targeting their defence during the double. On that note, both Daley Blind (fatigue) and Marco Rojo (jet-lag) were subbed off at Old Trafford, highlighting the fact that Chris Smalling and David De Gea are the safest options for Gameweek 33 wildcarders.

Out-of-sorts Toffees fail to impress

Everton suffered their third straight defeat and have now tasted victory just once since Gameweek 26.

Romelu Lukaku had an afternoon to forget against Louis van Gaal’s charges, mustering a solitary off-target attempt. Nonetheless, the Belgian marksman is sure to be one of the most popular pick-ups ahead of the Toffees’ aforementioned successive doubles in Gameweek 33 (wat &cry) and Gameweek 34 (SOU & liv) – indeed, he already ranks top for “transfers in” (62,000) at the time of writing.

For those eyeing up the Toffees midfielders, Aaron Lennon (5.6) was intriguingly handed a central support role behind Lukaku as Gerard Deulofeu started on the right wing. Lennon then switched back to the flank after the young Spaniard was withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Roberto Martinez switched things up at the back, benching Ramiro Funes Mori to facilitate John Stones’ reinstatement in a four-man defence. In terms of tapping into Everton’s backline potential, goalkeeper Joel Robles (4.3) is the standout pick by virtue of his budget price tag, while skipper Phil Jagielka (5.1) – who fired two attempts from inside the box yesterday – seems the safest route into the defence.

    Bellerin - Fuchs - Coleman
    Sanchez - KdB - Mahrez - Payet
    Kun - Kane - Lukaku

    (Darlow - Lanzini - Simpson - Klose)

just playing DA - you don't think there will some minutes management with CL on either side of this weekend's easy home game against a WBA team on holiday?

Yup I think there will be, but not for Kun..

KdB is a calculated gamble as I think he needs minutes on the pitch to regain his sharpness (both for City's run in and for Belgium) so I'm hoping he gets another 60ish minutes vs WBA.

I mainly wanted him for GW35 anyways 🙂

Was just being pedantic as it says how many non-DGW players 🙂

Probably going 15 but keep seeing teams with Mahrez or 1 Leicester defender and they look nicely balanced.

One thing for sure - I won't have Kane, he's already been sold.

😀 I made a draft with that power six and got laughed at cause the defence was absolutely wonk. Iwobi in for Ozil solved everything though. I have exact cash for Mahrez -> KdB right now.

                8.5m GKs

Just looking at Martial as a possible option for the third striker spot in my front three (alongside Aguero and Lukaku) - thought the following was interesting.

Martial vs the bottom half sides at Old Trafford:

    West Brom - 5
    Everton - 9
    Watford - 5
    Swansea - 12
    Norwich - 7
    Sunderland - 5

    Newcastle - N/A
    Aston Villa - GW34
    Crystal Palace - GW34
    Bournemouth - GW38

In addition to the above he scored 11 vs Stoke at home and 6 vs Liverpool.

The only times he's blanked at home this season are vs Man City, West Ham, Chelsea, Southampton and Arsenal.

    Coincidence or something in it?

I wasn't planning on it but I'm starting to think a 4 point hit getting him in and out might be worth it. He's the only one we know who's nailed in the United attack and even a goal and assist across the two games is 11-15 points.

Big week ahead with TC locked on Lukaku. I have used 2FT to get Bolasie and Lukaku in and have THREE DGW players. Am I good to go or is it worth getting another DGW player in for a hit? (Dann? Coleman?)

    ------------------------------Robles(2)--------------------------

    ---------------Daniels-------VVD-------Moreno------------

    Mahrez----------Ozil-----------Silva-----------Bolasie(2)

    -------Lukaku(TCx2)------Kane------Aguero-----------

    Strong bench: Morgan, Alli, Walker

Cheers lads, was thinking that way. Though I do have my WC to use in 34 so any players brought in are a one-week punt only.

I'd save your TC for next week. Maybe even wildcard this week and slap it on Sanchez if you can get him in. Better than Lukaku his week I'd think (I'm prob going Lukaku but BB next week)

    De Gea
    Clyne Huth Bellerin
    BARKLEY Alli Arnie Mahrez
    LUKAKU Kane Aguero

    Bench: MCCARTHY Targett Bennett BARRY

With this current line up would you:
    A) Drop Alli/Arnie/Mahrez for DGW BARRY? If so, who?
    B) Play AOA Chip and drop Clyne/Huth/Bellerin for DGW BARRY? If so who?
    C) Let DGW BARRY rot on the bench as he has done all season when he only has SGWs 🙂

Thinking of splashing out on my midfield for DGW34:

    Robles
    Williams Bellerin Huth
    Sanchez De Bruyne Payet Barkley
    Deeney Aguero Lukaku

    Sanchez triple captain!

    Thoughts?

          8 years, 1 month ago

Either of the above are good exit plans. You'll have 2 FTs to use by 35, so unless there's another player you need to sort out too Martial should be okay to get.

Depends on the table actually. Will be looking at teams that have something to fight for. Same issue with Bolasie.

Things to consider if you go with him:

      - Will he be rotated/rested
      - How will you transfer him out / upgrade him

        ddb robles
        bellerin Gabriel Moreno Delaney simpson
        sanchez payet coutinho firmino lennon
        kun lukaku mitrovic

    DDG - Robles
    Gabriel - Rojo - Clichy - Sakho - Dann
    Alexis - Ozil - KDB - Coutinho - Lennon
    Martial - Sturridge - Lukaku

Wenger needs to win every game and with no other cup competitions I can't see him rotating the current line up until they have a dreadful performance.

      Definitely will get game time - he's a risk, in my eyes;

      Bellerin
      Kosc
      Monreal
      Gabriel
      Mert

Is the order you want Ars defenders in

I disagree.. Gabriel is ahead of Mert. Arsenal winning and keeping CS. No point in changing in defense. Wenger doesn't like it and does it only if it is a must. Gabriel played bad when he was on left hand side, but when Kos came back he was moved to his preferred position and they both play well.
