Fantasy Frogball Euro 2016

Fantasy FrogBall is a competition that will run alongside the Euro 2016 competition this summer. All 96 spaces have already been filled and the teams are ready to go! This is just a place for banter and questions regarding the tournament without irritating the other thousands of people that use this website.

Rules

Points Scoring

Your total score is made up of your four members Fantasy team Gameweek scores combined and you will go head to head with a different nation every week, in the same set up as the Euro 2016 tournament. Like the actual tournament, a win will earn your team three points, a draw one and a loss zero, however, the top six teams each Gameweek will earn a bonus point, whether you have lost or won your tie (this threshold may be raised/lowered if it is found to be too easy/difficult after the first Gameweek).

Group Placing’s

In the group, point’s ties are decided by overall points difference, which is decided like goal difference. The four highest third place teams will go through to the last 16 in a format that will be the same as the actual tournament.

Ties

Ties will be decided by whichever team has the highest single points scorer of the eight members across two teams – if these are tied it goes to the second highest scorer, and so on.

Spreadsheet

I have created a spread sheet for the whole competition. This will show team scores, match results, group standings and individual scores for each week of the tournament. I will also be writing an article or hot topic for each Gameweek. Good luck!

Very unfortunate for Portugal and Ukraine: one member from each team (The Orienteer and Slindoffer) forgot to activate their Wildcards and they are on -15 and -23pts respectively.

Team Poland and Team Hungary not complaning, though. 🙂

I don't know what to do about this? It seems harsh to ruin the scores of two very strong sides because of what I can only assume is an error!

        • 8 Years
        7 years, 10 months ago

It is harsh, however Ukraine can still qualify with 3pts, they had a respectable 'point difference'. Not to mention the wildcards that both of the players are left with and can use in the later stages of the tournament. Ignoring the error would bascially mean giving them a free wildcard, as in the Uefa game they still have one WC left each.

As someone not involved, I think you have to stick with the score, even if it is terrible luck/misjudgement. Otherwise you'd be giving them two WCs - this one and the one they still have according to the game.

    Fantasy FrogBall GW 3 Results

    Group A
A late bonus point win saw Romania take 3rd place from the team that beat them in GW1 - France. This win for Romania allowed Switzerland to topple first and second round leaders Albania and all three are through to the Last 16 - commiserations to France.

    Group B
Slovakia's unbeaten run continued with a comfortable victory over England, who return home without a point. Having lost 2 games, Wales will consider themselves lucky to have scraped 2nd place - therefore sending home both GW3 winners Russia and England.

    Group C
Germany's late surge to win against an out of form NI was not enough to see them through to the next round. Courtesy of a win over a debilitated Ukraine side, Poland grabbed second place and are joined by NI and Ukraine in the last 16.

    Group D
Turkey's score of 8 would have seen them win groups A and C, however they had to settle for second despite a bonus point win over bottom side Czech Republic. Croatia's dominance continued with their third win, and second with bonus points - this win sent Spain home.

    Group E
With the only 110% record in the competition thanks to 3 bonus point wins, Belgium look favourites going into the knockout phases. Despite a heavy loss Sweden go through in 3rd, after Italy's big win over 4th place Ireland.

    Group F
Austria are the 4th side in the competition to have not lost a game so far, and their bonus point win over Iceland sent them through in first. Hungary's bonus point win over Portugal means the Portuguese have to settle for 3rd place with a place in the last 16.

Good luck to those through to the knockout phase - a better spreadsheet than the current fixtures tree is coming, you can check fixtures below the group tables! Commiserations to those that didn't make it.

Portugal are happy to go through despite one of our members not playing their WC correctly and taking a -44 point hit. Even with that crazy hit we got a respectable score and without that we would have been the top scorers of the round. The main thing is that we are still in the tourney. 🙂

Just to be precise - Ukraine's Slindoffer took a -32 hit, and ended up on 16pts. If he used his WC properly, he would have been on 48pts and Ukraine would score 207pts this Gameweek.

Even if he didn't make such a glaring mistake, Team Poland would still manage to comfortably beat the Ukrainians: 232:207.

Looking at Eden Hazardous' comments above: Germany wouldn't make it through anyway, as you lost to Ukraine in H2H.
