The Dugout Discussion – West Ham United vs Southampton

After Saturday treated us to eight matches and 29 goals, we have just a solitary fixture to focus our attentions on today.

West Ham welcome Southampton to the London Stadium as Slaven Bilic attempts to halt a run of three straight Premier League losses.

Both sides chalked up EFL Cup wins in midweek, yet while the Saints saw off Palace to rack up a third successive victory in all competitions, the Hammers had to rely on a last-minute free-kick from Dimitri Payet to see off Accrington Stanley.

With a pair of assists in each of the last two Gameweeks, the Frenchman has been in fine form since returning from injury.

Nonetheless, Payet has remained overlooked by many Fantasy managers due to the form of Michail Antonio, who has netted five times in four since being moved onto the flank.

With his defence in disarray, Bilic will be relying on that duo to get the better of a Saints side that have picked up a single point in their two road trips so far.

For the Saints, Nathan Redmond remains their most popular FPL asset despite a four-match barren streak, though Dusan Tadic is the form player heading into this one, having served up an assist in each of the last two Gameweeks.

    During the international break, Sanchez has 2 games:

    Thu 6th October: Ecuador vs Chile
    Wed 12th October: Chile vs Peru

    When he returns, the next Premier League game is:

    Sat 15th October: Arsenal vs Swansea

    Finally, the mid-week Champions League game:

    Wed 19th Oct - Arsenal vs Ludogorets

    The difference between now and the last international break is that Arsenal had a big opponent in PSG. Now they have Ludogorets which isn't as tough a game. Wenger isn't likely to rest Sanchez for the game against Ludogorets.

          Hello LR. Rather good, got a 5-5 draw in a 5-a-side match, scored 3. Also, the weather is still beautiful in Eastern Europe.

          FPL-wise, lost my H2H to Berbs... But still looking at OR of 7k and 53pts + Capoue. Could be worse with no Kun and Ibra (C).

          My think has always been that Puel would eventually realise neither Long nor Redmond are going to win them many matches with their goal scoring. Southampton have only one true goal scoring striker and that's Austin. I think management might have finally twigged this.

          - Coutinho for ability to score big points, consistency an issue.
          - Firmino bound to take points soon, but not on the end of things.
          - Mane explosive but 9m
          - Lallana seems consistent in the mix.
          - Milner on all things penalties.

            Had a look at stats and I can say that you can get any outcome by adjusting stats as you want. All of them are good options, but just feel that Coutinho will be more involved in everything they create. Also his price gives me more freedom with next moves.

                Well it depends if you prioritize SiT as you in table, or for example Sot or Shoot or Chances created per minute. Each of them will give you other player to pick

                  Well Mane and Firmino have more chances created, shots in the box and penalty area touches. Firmino also has played one game less.

                    Coutinho has least minutes from them and I always look at last 4 gameweeks when it comes to attacking players. Will give it one more closer look

                      I was looking at the table filtered to last 3 weeks, for clarity.

                      Also Coutinho only has 50 fewer minutes than both of them, over the season.

                      Coutinho isn't an awful pick by any means. I just know that of the 3, he'll be the least directly involved and the most likely to sit a bit deeper on days Klopp plays an actual striker in addition to Firmino and Mane, considering Lallana is nailed on at the moment.
