The ScoutCast – Episode 201 – Penalty

The cruel mistress that is Fantasy Premier League.

Jonty has fallen a victim, paying the penalty for a few ill-judged decisions, compounded by a huge slice of bad luck as both Christian Benteke and his captain Sergio Aguero missed penalties in a single Gameweek.

He just can’t buy a break right now, which makes it all the more impressive that Jonty should brave another ScoutCast and risk a bruising hour in my company, along with Andy and Granville.

We make sure we conduct a full post-mortem on Jonty’s miserable plight, before delving into similar tales from the community in “Rough with the Smooth”.

Then it’s on to your questions as we consign Hull City to whipping boy status, pry into Pep’s potentially failing relationship with Aguero and dare to cast doubt on the Joe Allen bandwagon.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re nostalgic for the old formats, you can acquire the traditional mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or watch me get riled via the Google Hangout version in the second player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Your team is rock solid, why take a hit?

      What about Walcott to Son?
And then back to Walcott again?

Your real issues are triple Brom defence and capoue but these aren't squad positions to be throwing around hits, unless you find 4.5m defence hits fun?

all set pieces and good fixtures (and probably playing as false nine)
if swansea scored he'll be involved .... may be swansea fixtures in first 8 were not good so he didn't look that good .
but i agree one game under new management could foul us as they looked dangerous and scored 2 at emirates

Who is your forgotten man of FPL this season?

A forgotten man is a player with GREAT fantasy potential but for some reason hasn't realised it.

For me it's Anthony Martial. Last night reminded me.

Pacy, skillful player in an attacking position in a team with potential to develop and score many goals. Similar in style to an Henry, coming in off the wing and bending the ball into the bottom corner (his finishing still needs serious work).

He never goes on good runs, he's consistent to the point where you don't ever want him.

He returns on average in 40% of games which is fantastic. But other players return in 60-70% of games for a period and and then stop allowing you to move onto the next performing player.

As I just read a bunch of people recommending him I would say Clyne. For how good we know he can be going forward he really doesn't deliver anything (except the 3 bonus he just got in a 0-0 draw). Says it all really.

I have only enough to do Capoue -> Lallana, but isn't his mins in question after the last few games. And then again I'm spoilt for choice in picking Liverpool midfielders. No ideas which to go for..

Any ideas for this lot ?

    Heaton - Pickford
    Baines - PVA - Smith - Holebas - Amat
Sanchez - Sterling - Firmino - Antonio - De Roon
    Aguero - Lukaku - Deeney

    1FT and 0.4 ITB

Baines --> Clyne for FT or should i take a hit and get rid of Antonio too?

I would lose PVA before Baines. Short .1 for Clyne though. Clyne has the stats and fixtures so don't want to put you off and say Lovern instead for PVA.

All three good options...but would prefer Stanislas now.

Chadli is by far the best player. But short term Stan has better fixtures. It depends on how long you plan on having him.

What's the verdict on Sterling > Walcott? There's arguably a greater risk of rotation for Sterling, and he is likely to drop in price whereas Wally will continue to rise.

    Stick or twist?

    Cheers

I would argue that there's a greater risk of rotation for Walcott if history is anything to go by

      Its a really tough call

No doubt walcott is a very good option right now and rising in price if you play a money game.

But arsenal good fixtures are about to end and city good fixtures are about to begin. And if you look at Sterling performances so far he starting to look a bit of a flat track bully (or a no show in big games if you look at it the other way).

Personally id hold unless you have 2ft and no other pressing issues but its not a bad decision to switch either.

My rivals have all brought Walcott in and he's (finally) hit some form. I heard similar things about Sterling's excellent performance though.

      Thanks all!

    What to do with Chadli?

Brought him in as a 3-game punt, he's returned 2 goals and 5 baps - good form but horrendous fixtures coming up.

Stick with form and involvement, or twist due to fixtures? Potential replacement would be Lallana.
