Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Leicester City vs Manchester United

After Gabriel Jesus downed Swansea with a double at the Etihad, we make our way to the King Power as Leicester City entertain Manchester United in the final fixture of Gameweek 24.

Despite back-to-back blanks, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was once again the most captained player for this round of matches – he was handed the armband by 20.5% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

The likes of Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could emerge as differentials against a defence that’s conceded at least twice in five of their last six home matches.

With a blank Gameweek 26 and potential blank in Gameweek 28, though, Jose Mourinho’s men are far from our short-term plans right now.

Leicester’s unconvincing form at both ends of the pitch bodes well for the Red Devils – with a single goal scored in the last six Gameweeks, those holding the likes of David de Gea and Antonio Valencia will be optimistic of a clean sheet.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Lukaku. Doesn't mean he's the best striker but he's very good at scoring braces against the lower teams.

Had the same discussion with my brother, his overall contribution to some matches can be small but then he'll have those 4 goal wonders

I think that's why he's not universally popular with the fans. You just know he could do a lot more.

Doesn't get the credit he deserves.. think it's due to the odd stinker of a game where he does come across quite clumsy at times and miss a few sitters.. On the other hand if he's on it he's near unplayable.. goal record speaks for itself.. top drawer striker

Indeed. He lost a lot of love with his talk of moving to a bigger club. You know what fans are like.

After 20mins today Mou switched the game by playing Ibra deeper and moving Mkhitaryan into the No10 position playing more central. It was Mkhitaryan and Mata who were in the most advanced positions when United broke on the counter attack. This could bode well for Mkhitaryan owners but less so for Ibra if United are struggling to score against Watford early on.

United are going to hit someone for 6 or 7 very soon.. could of been today.. an early goal against anyone which relieves a little pressure and someone soon is going to get absolutely smashed up

Assuming that the PL follows suit from last year, and the gw26 blanks get rescheduled to gw34 while the gw28 blanks get moved to gw37, then those of us without our wildcards should not be disadvantaged that much.

If the PL teams mostly advance in the FA Cup, then GW28 will be awful for most everyone, and DGW37 will be bountiful for most everyone, right?

If 10-12 teams all blank at the same time, and 10-12 have a DGW at the same time, and those are the teams that have alot of the popular players, I am not seeing much opportunity for separation with this schedule. Or am I missing something?

Even though it's hard to pick out any one in particular, it's highly unlikely all 8 PL teams progress to the quarters

Right, that's why 10-12 makes sense as that would be 5 or 6 going on to the QF.

I think the worry is if all big hitters fire and have doubles. A defensive shuffle may be needed to raise funds and that's better off with a WC. Think the lack of a Mahrez/Vardy like cheap big-hitter will be felt most in the DGW.

Good point, will have to hope there are once again some cheap DGW heroes.

Definitely more difficult to gain an edge, I agree.

I am leaning towards an early WC (GW29 or 30). Playing it in GW36 and banking on a huge haul in GW37 seems risky when you could probably get a similar number of DGW players by WC'ing earlier and (in theory) having more successful gameweeks points-wise in the run up to GW37. If that makes sense.

Very much so - especially if the likes of Arsenal, City, United have two DGWs.

Torn with what to do here; plan for the blanks or aim to get siggy in:

    Grant
    Alonso Brunt Coleman
    Sanchez Hazard Phillips Eriksen
    Ibra Gray Lukaku

    Pickford Stanislas Amat Yoshida

    1FT 1.7m itb

    Thinking
    1) amat to Funes Mori/maguire (play 442 next week and drop gray(CHE))
    2) Hazard to Siggy (mad?)
    3) Gray to Niasse, Stanislas to Siggy (-4)

    Cheers

Sanchez and Ibra, which to get rid of if either.... Got Ibra .4 ago so if I sell now I'll definitely make it back it, Sanchez is a different story, price difference of .8. Will he drop .4 in 2 weeks?
