The Big Numbers – Gameweek 32

We delve into the Gameweek 32 Opta data this morning in the first members’ article of the week.

Man City’s in-form front man is amongst a host of candidates under analysis, with a pair of Palace attackers also on our radar ahead of double Gameweek 34. We also assess Spurs’ weekend hero as the transfers-in escalate before taking a look at the downturn in output by Arsenal and Swansea City’s main men.

Any idea when all these extra fixtures are actually going to land? The season's going to be over soon and 2 clubs have 2 fixtures still to be scheduled. Crazy - and really annoying for planning my glorious comeback run-in.
Currently focusing on Man Utd, Palace and M'boro for next week, although it does present a slight problem this week, with only palace having a reasonable fixture. I'll probably drop Costa for Benteke this week, although having been burned by his woeful form earlier in the season, I can't quite bring myself to do it...

      Arsenal v Saints - GW 35/36
All other outstanding fixtures in GW37

I'm a dope. I let Gibson rise this wk and now I'm 0.1 short !!

Grant to Valdes only option iv left now. Gives me 4 dgw players. Should I?? It's either that or barragan for Mawson instead of Gibson.

Barragan decent I think, because you never wana be doing a goalkeeper transfer. What about Hennessey instead of Valdes? has an OK 35 as well (BUR) and is cheap at 4.3, so you don't feel too bad about leaving him there. Fairly decent 37 fixture as well (HULL) if you wana leave him for the BB.

Yeah I have him, I reckon he's a good option to just sit there til EoS - if you have a wildcard handy (I used mine last weekend) maybe get Valdes in for the short term.

          Good FT.

      Good advice.

Think anyrhing more than 1 Middlesbrough may be overkill.

Gibson only attractive feature is the one DGW and that could go belly up.

Hennessey has a plum 33 & 35 fixture not including his 34 DGW.

I have all but ruled out any Middlesbrough defender.

Sahko Ward offer more potential but for sahko being fixtute tied against Liverpool which could effect all cry pal defence for that DGW.

Only other options is Man Utd and those are mote expensive and roatation risks.

Winging it maybe the way to go for GW34 but Hennessey a good shout for sure and get him in for this weekend should that be your plan.

I have Valdes... tempted by Hennessey

However, Tekkers has what will probably be a heavily rotated Leicester at home... and decent stats... maybe I'd do B and play more aggressively, especially at this stage of the season, if I were you.

Best long term option of this lot

    Ward (not gteat fixtures)
    Bailly (rotation risk)
    Holgate (everton defense??)
    Gibson (only DGW34 attracts)

Do you guys rhink that Cry Pal will struggle away to Liverpool without Sahko. Something that may have to be factored in meaning DGW potential significantly reduced.

Hi, I saw that a lot of people (including FFS PODCAST) are talking about Spurs coverage because so many people already have 1-3 players and Kane is nearing a full return. On the podcast they were discussing how similar their PPG (points per game) are but it struck me that if we are talking about 'coverage' then really what we are interested in is their PPG in the games when these players (Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Son) are all featuring. Also because we're interested in mitigating the risk from not owning Kane, we are specifically interested in what happens when Kane DOES get points. So here are three sets of ppg that tell you exactly that:

To what extent do other fielded attacking options mitigate Kane's pointscoring?

    PPG: Home and Away (N9)

    Kane: 11.1
    Alli: 8.1
    Eriksen: 8.1
    Son: 6

    PPG: Home Only (N5)

    Kane: 13.8
    Alli: 6
    Eriksen: 8.6
    Son: 5.2

    PPG: Away only (N4)

    Kane: 7.75
    Alli: 10.75
    Eriksen: 8.25
    Son: 7

What we see (albeit based on a small sample: N9), is that over the course of the 9 games featuring all 4 players, when Kane notches attacking returns there is no attacking alternative mitigating over 74%. However, when differentiated for H/A we see stark differences. At home coverage is even less effective with Eriksen the most effective mitigator at just 62%. Away from home we see that all three options have been very effective but that Alli comes into his own and comfortably outscores Kane.

Order of preference for GW33: Eriksen, Alli, Son

(N9 is games where Kane registers at least an assist)

Interesting post! Differences at home are stark!

I'm not sure I've ever considering shipping a player who just scored 19 points and has a home banker next, but Son & Ibra -> Zaha & Kane(c) is might tempting! Thoughts on my post above?

    Sigh....

Just looking back to the start of the season and my team once the dust had settled on the transfer deadline.

I was aware that Palace had been instructed to play attacking football and went for go.d for a while with that (it worked) and I was more than a little convinced that Lukaku and Bolsie would yield big pts this season (Bolasie would have had plenty of assists by now)

We usually laugh at our early season teams but I bet I was bang on the money with this (GW5) had Palace continued with attacking football and Bolasie not gotten injured.

    Courtois
    Valencia Mcauley Walker
    Sanchez Bolasie Zaha Hazard
    Ibra Benteke Lukaku

    Baines Amat Capoue

    Sadly....

Those with Aguero, what's the plan?

Want to sell for Kane but something is stopping me...have a bad feeling about it. What are others doing?

Keeping, why sell someone who is scoring in a attacking team?

I generally like to keep players that get me points on a regular basis

apologise for being facetious, but theres an epidemic on here at the moment of wanting to get rid of hight scoring players for other players who they think will get high scores to. for example people saying , without question, eriksen and son have to go.

        its barmy

Hear you. Just feel wrong to sell. I am holding waiting on DGW news.

Spurs fixtures after this weekend are not the best either.

So hoping Alli will cover me till then. Fingers crossed
