The ScoutCast – Episode 228 – Countdown

The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

    No RMT here just a thank you to the scouts and the community for helping me over the weeks decide my team.         Lukaku and a United def/ĎDG is a must. Not sure about the mids, Mkhi would be fantastic is guaranteed minutes. As much as it makes sense now that Pogba will score well, I've not seen enough in pre season to think be would be a better option than Willian or Zaha with 1m spare. I am going DDG and Lukaku.

            I'm thinking David Silva may be a good shout but quite risky. Yes huge step up to the 9m mids. I fancy Jones to start but bit of a risk again. He doesn't get forward like be used to anyhow, still think DDG is best bet. Think Kolasinac is a little better value than Valencia

        I don't agree with that assessment . Surely you will want to swap Bailly out for a Arsenal etc defender at some point during the season . It will be harder to swap De Gea out

    Been back and forward on so many positions and got alot of s'ton coverage at the back for their initial easy run in which will change but this is where I'm sat for GW1 despite wanting Jesus really and wishing I had the cahonas to go with Batshuayi...

      It's a nice team but personally think 2 ideally 3 city as think they will start the best out of the lot. I don't have Kane either but would suggest Alli as cover. Salah and Firmino is a little too much Liverpool for me. Would suggest DDG in for Forster and could double up on SOU defenders if needed.

      Nice team though, just personal preference really..

    Has anyone looked into what impact Firmino's reclassification as a striker is likely to have on his fpl output?

    He'd be 22 points worse off for the 11 goals and 11 clean sheets, but I'm not sure how his BPS would be affected...

    He seems as much an assist machine as a goal scorer, so assuming there is no change to his overall BPS, the reclassification would bring his average ppg down to 4.5 last season, which doesn't look great. Throwing pens in will definitely help (if he has them), but I'm starting to wonder if he's really the value option a lot of us think he is...

      When he was £8.5 and a mid last year I thought, oh hey here's a bargain but now he's a forward I'm not too sure about it. I think being reclassified shaves about £1.0m off your value, just think if Sanchez was a forward instead last year.
