The Weekend Team News

The headline news this morning is that Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has been involved in a car accident and is expected to face a period on the sidelines with fractured ribs.

Aguero has returned to Manchester to be assessed, with City boss Pep Guardiola set to provide an update on his condition in today’s lunchtime press conference, amid fears that Aguero could be out for up to three months.

Certainly, the City boss doesn’t have his problems to seek after Benjamin Mendy was ruled out for the foreseeable future having sustained knee ligament damage during the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The hosts will be without the suspended David Luiz for the Saturday evening showdown.

Danny Williams (foot), Steve Mounie (knock) and Collin Quaner (calf) all remain out for Huddersfield Town’s home fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. Manager David Wagner is optimistic that Mounie will be back in contention for the Gameweek 8 clash against Swansea.

Spurs make their way to John Smith’s Stadium with Christian Eriksen back in contention. The Dane returned to training yesterday, having recovered from the illness that forced him to miss the midweek trip to Cyprus.

Harry Arter is expected to sit out Bournemouth’s home fixture against Leicester City, while fellow midfielder Dan Gosling has also emerged as a doubt.

Jamie Vardy is dealing with a hip problem, but trained for the first time this week on Thursday, and is expected to start against the Cherries.

Michael Carrick will miss Manchester United’s home meeting with Crystal Palace, while Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini are both major doubts. Anthony Martial could shake off a knock to be involved at Old Trafford.

Mark Hughes will have Kurt Zouma available for the home clash against Southampton after the defender was ineligible to face parent club Chelsea last weekend. The Potters boss is optimistic on Geoff Cameron’s chances of recovering from a hamstring problem, though Kevin Wimmer is unlikely to be risked as he nurses a similar complaint.

Virgil van Dijk should come under strong consideration for a first start of the season when Southampton travel to the bet365 Stadium.

Oliver Burke and Nacer Chadli are both lacking match fitness, and aren’t expected to feature for West Bromwich Albion against Watford.

Hornets defender Miguel Britos returns from suspension for the trip to the Hawthorns, but Nathaniel Chalobah faces a long spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury.

Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio are both available for West Ham United’s home encounter against Swansea City, but Pedro Obiang remains out.

Swansea head coach Paul Clement has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to the London Stadium, with Ki Sung-yeung and Nathan Dyer both still unavailable as they continue to build up their match fitness with the U23s.

Chris Hughton will be without the suspended Tomer Hemed for the trip to Arsenal, after the FA upheld a charge of violent conduct.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. With this weekends fixtures and the nature of my team, plus Jones and Vardy doubts, I'm considering using the free hit:

    Fabianski > de Gea
    Hegazi > Hünemeier
    Jones > Kolasinac
    Cédric > Monreal
    Naughton > Rangel
    Morata > Lukaku
    Vardy > Chicharito
    Carroll > King
    Mooy > McArthur
    Mbemba > Simpson

I'm keeping Kane, Mikhitaryan, Salah, Alli, Elliot, and therefore fielding the following team:

    DDG (MAN vs cpa)
    Kolasinac (ARS vs bha)
    Monreal (ARS vs bha)
    Simpson (bou vs LEI)
    King (bou vs LEI)
    Alli (hud vs SPU)
    Miki (MAN vs cpa)
    Salah (new vs LIV)
    Chicarito (WHU vs swa)
    Lukaku (MAN vs cpa)
    Kane (hud vs SPU)

I have one free transfer is I decide not to use the Free Hit... so, worth doing, or just accept this week might be a bust and have 2 FT for next week..?
