A third of the season is almost done, and Burnley’s defence is riding high as a source of Fantasy returns.

After a surprising debut campaign in which a recurring series of defensive heroics – particularly at Turf Moor – saw the Clarets survive in 16th place, their sophomore season has been altogether more impressive.

Sean Dyche’s side sit in seventh place – tied on points with both Liverpool and Arsenal –a nd have conceded fewer goals than all but the top three of Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs.

Can their defence continue to perform at such a high level throughout the campaign? And who among their array of options looks best placed to prosper from this upturn in solidity?

      Not convinced by Lukaku, but at least by having him I am somewhat protected from a haul.

    couple of quick ones

    1) firmino or sane? Already have salah and sterling so deciding whether to play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. Who is more valuable?

    2) alonso or zaha? Similar value but decides my formation choice

    3) which defensive trio
    3A) Ryan Elliot Dann.
    - Brighton Newcastle rotate great. Dann for the attacking threat and replace dann when needed

    3B) speroni Elliot Duffy + 0.7m
    - cheaper. cPL and Newcastle don't rotate much..will probably change speroni >> 4.5m in ten weeks time after cpl fixtures
    - speroni and Duffy both look decent for bonus. The palace keeper hogs the defensive baps compared to keepers
