Wisdom of the Crowd – Gameweek 17

Each week we are reviewing the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.

Please join the FFS league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).

GAMEWEEK 16 REVIEW

Finally Tottenham delivered on the crowd expectation, scoring five goals in the process to reward those that kept faith in their talismanic striker Harry Kane.  Chelsea was the biggest disappointment in their 1-0 defeat at West Ham, whilst Arsenal and Liverpool could only manage a draw in their games against Southampton and Everton.

Here are the Gameweek 16 results in descending order of predictability:

Well done to James Li from the UK for winning the Yellow Cap in the FFS pool.  Mr Crowd Wisdom – using the aggregated predictions of the crowd – moved up one place, and remains well above average on page 1 of the leaderboard.

The aggregated predictions of the community are making better predictions than most individual players in the game, suggesting that there is credibility in the Wisdom of the Crowd concept.

GAMEWEEK 17 PREVIEW

Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in Gameweek 17:

And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:

After their win at Old Trafford, Manchester City are back at the top of the Predicted Goals table, ahead of Liverpool, Man United, Tottenham and Chelsea – all have kind fixtures, and are predicted to score at least two goals each, suggesting plenty of captaincy options.

Harry Kane is the clear leader in the Captaincy poll, but these stats suggest that, Spurs could be outscored by City, Liverpool and United.

All four of those teams are predicted to keep clean sheets, and perhaps we are all set for a high-scoring Gameweek with so many options raking in the points.  We can certainly hope.

Here are the aggregated predictions that we’ll enter into the game for Mr Crowd Wisdom in the FFS pool.

Is there anything that catches your eye in these predictions?

Good luck!

Thanks again. Always seem to focus on the goals conceded to make sure i have the right def playing. I think I should maybe be more positive and look at gs in more detail too
