A successful 2011/12 promotion campaign saw Southampton rack up the goals as Nigel Adkins’ side finished second in the npower Championship. Having found the net 85 times last term, the Saints immediately placed Fantasy managers on alert and on the lookout for new blood for their squads. The most obvious and popular pick was Rickie Lambert who notched 25 goals in the Championship, while Adam Lallana and new arrivals Jay Rodriguez and later Gaston Ramirez have also been touted as potential Fantasy options. Even Morgan Schneiderlin – who had just two goals in almost 150 appearances coming into the season – has received some attention after his goal against Man United in Gameweek three.
tevez
Open ControlsI am wondering if Tevez will start. I don´t think so. 120 min on tuesday and Aguero rested. And then again champions league next week. I am afraid he will get 10 minutes in the end and get one point. On the other hand he could score then too.... Gaaaaah. I don´t know either. I have him on the bench right now, but I am not sure I will keep him there. Feels strange to have only RvP on top (I have berba injured)
Open ControlsI think I will take my chances with Tevez after all, and start him. But I do it reluctantly 🙂 I start Sterling too, but bench Kacaniklic...
Berbatov injury sucks! And for two games it is not worth transfering him out I think. I just have to hang on to him...Open Controls
So Berba out for 2 weeks, looks like that's me playing 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 for the next 2 weeks then.
I trust am I still ok to draft Jelly in?Open ControlsShould be. The chatter is that all other striking options are banged up in some way and Jelly scored a goal in training. Make of that what you will.
Open Controls
For Gorkss to keep a clean sheet the odds are 5/2.
For Kacaniklic to score the odds are 5.
So logically it would be the smartest to play Gorkss before Kacaniklic? Or does Kacaliknic better assistpotential overwheigh? Even with Berbatov injured?
This would mean I would play 5 defenders this week. Crazy?Open Controlsis berba not playing...? what happend.
Open ControlsJust saw that myself. Must have been injured in training.
Open Controls
an i was kicking myself for doing tevez -> ba insted or berba.
Open ControlsYou won this one.
Open Controls
i hope tevez punishes every one who takes him out.
Open Controls+1, got a feeling he'll upset the apple cart.
Open Controlstevez will bang 2 in. he will partner aguero. i dont no how u can leave him on the bench.
Open Controls
agreed - i think he will start
Open Controls+ SO MUCH
Open ControlsShouldn't you be happy that others have shipped them out? If he does well, then you gain from it, which would punish those who got rid. But really, hoping he punishes people seems to be taking things a bit too personally.
Open Controls
how does this WC team look??
mannone (mccarthy)
baines davies cuellar (demel, hughes)
gaston ramirez, cazorla michu fellaini (sterling)
aguero (C), rvp, ba
1.6m in the bankOpen Controlsout of the top 10 people only 3 have RVP, i think his price damages the whole team.
Open Controlsalso mannone isnt the best pick he wont get all the games.
Open ControlsI wouldn't go with Mannone on a WC as he's close to being replaced and they play Chelsea. Ramirez is a gamble, but could pay off. I don't know that I would take Michu at this point, but it could be smart still with the easy home fixtures coming. Fix your keeper situation and I think you're ok.
Open ControlsMannone is fine but you need a solid back up, ie Jaask etc
Open Controls
Berbatov to Ba then will leave enough cash for Tevez to Aguero if i need too???
Open Controlsgood plan
Open Controls
I have doubts over Cuellar, Ridgewell, Federici & Berba is out.
Would it be a waste to bring in Sterling for Ryo with doubts over all these players. Can't afford to lose any more on Ryo & Sterling looks like he could be a good cheap pick..Open ControlsWhy the panic over Berbs probs will only miss 1 week, this week which is Mancity (2 pointer) just sub him and more than likely your sub will get 2 pts anyway
Open Controlsthey say its 2 weeks!!! how you say it is 1?????
Open ControlsIf it's just 1 week then this is an excellent point gazza. 2 and maybe. His 3rd game from now is vs Villa at home and I would be wanting him for that..
Open ControlsExactly, Chill guys, stick him on the bench and relax!
Open Controls
As I plan on benching my 5th mid practically every week, is there any point choosing Sterling over Puncheon? (Already have Lambert)
Open ControlsIf you're on a WC, maybe, if not, definitely not! In other words don't use a transfer on it...
Open ControlsOn a WC and had Sterling in all week, but only realising now it's kind of pointless since he'll be benched every week. The extra 0.2 could come in handy too in a few weeks
Open ControlsAhh ok. Well tbh, Puncheon has more goalscoring threat too imo, it's just that I can see him being dropped once he stops performing.
Open Controlsdisagree, sterling starts all games and whenever u have injury for your other 4 mids, he'll come and who knows, assist, goals
Open ControlsAssist, like Puncheon has done in his last 3 games? Interesting...
Open Controls
The reaction to Tevez playing a Capital One Cup match after being rested at the weekend on here has been frankly ridiculous, bordering on embarrassing 😀
Open ControlsCheers captain sensible
Open Controlsfunny thing was i was fine with benching him for 1 week, now with berba gone ill be praying for a cameo 1 pointer from tev lol
Open ControlsU must be extremely bashful then
Open ControlsHee Hee.
Open Controls
I was frantically googling the news of his season threatening injury such was the reaction
Open ControlsYou reading a fantasy football forum.... A FANTASY FOOTBALL forum. Where is the one place you would expect to find transfer crazed team news fiends? Oh yeah! A fantasy football forum!
Open Controls
I wonder who will play the CAM role for Newcastle against Reading? Ben Arfa maybe and Obertan/Marveaux out wide?
Any Newcastle fans in the know? China Mag?Open ControlsHonestly wouldn't like to speculate too much but given it's away from home I'd guess something slightly less attacking - Gosling in for Cabaye maybe.
Open ControlsNewcastle midfield will prob be Anita, HBA, Tiote and Guiti.
Open Controls
Ben Arfa Anita Tiote Gutierrez

Perhaps?Open Controls
I don’t know if anyone still cares, but there have been a lot of comments complaining about how the FA appears to have re-tried Terry for an offence for which the criminal courts found him innocent. Just a few points of clarification about this (some of these observations have already been made by me or others, but I just thought I’d pull them all together):
1. Terry was found “not guilty”; this does not mean he was found “innocent”, only that the prosecution could not prove the elements of a particular offence beyond a reasonable doubt (a very demanding standard, and much higher than the standard for civil cases, which is “on the balance of probabilities”).
2. The media help confuse things by reporting the FA charge using identical language to that used for the criminal charge. They earlier reported that the criminal courts found Terry not guilty of “racially abusing” Anton Ferdinand, and now they say the FA has found him “guilty” of “racially abusing” Anton Ferdinand. In both cases “racially abusing” is simply a false description of the offence, and using the word “guilty” about the FA finding is calculated to mislead. The main point is that the two offences are very different.
3. The criminal charge was a “racially aggravated” public order offence. To prove racial aggravation the prosecution needed to show that Terry (a) “demonstrate[d] hostility towards the victim based on the victim's membership (or presumed membership) of a racial group” or (b) that “the offence [was] motivated (wholly or partly) by hostility towards members of a racial group based on their membership of that group.” When Terry was found not guilty it was because the prosecution could not prove the racial hostility motive.
4. The FA charge was “using abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards” Ferdinand in violation of FA rule E3(1), with the “aggravating factor,” under E3(2) of “including a reference to any one or more of a person’s ethnic origin, colour, race, nationality, faith, gender, sexual orientation or disability”. So the key point is that with the FA charge, there is no need to prove any motive of racial hostility. All that was necessary was to show that there were abusive or insulting words and that they included reference to race/colour. In the criminal trial everyone agree that this happened, and the debate was about whether it involved racial hostility. This was not a factor for the FA charge.
5. As far as burden of proof, this charge was not even decided in a civil court but by an FA Independent Regulatory Commission. The presumed standard would be balance of probabilities, but in truth no conclusion they arrived at could be successfully challenged in court unless it was perverse or without any evidentiary basis.
6. I promise to stop talking about this now--the Tevez worries had me on the verge of WC and now Berb has pushed me over it, so time to go tinker. 😉Open ControlsLong ting
Open ControlsYup. Only for those who care, but apparently there are a lot of those.
Open Controls
I havent read it all an Im no expert but in terms of point 1 isnt it innocent until proven guilty so therefore has he hasnt been proven guilty he must be innocent.
Open ControlsActually, he is "presumed" innocent. That is a long way from being "proved" innocent. He might or might not be/have been innocent, I don't have a strong view. What I am trying to make clear is that the criminal verdict does not mean, nor did it claim to mean, that he had been proved innocent. He was presumed innocent as all accuse poeple are, and when he was not proved guilty, he remained "presumed", but not proved, innocent.
Open ControlsSeem hard for people to grasp this concept.
Open Controls
Not quite.
There's a presumption of innocence (i.e. the burden of proof is on the prosecution, not the defence) but failing to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt isn't the same as proving innocence.
It's a subtle distinction but very important.Open Controls^ Don't read this, Eunuch Jelly makes the same point but much more clearly. 🙂
Open Controls
The other key concept which nobody is paying attention to is that a criminal case is under English Law, whereas an FA hearing us under FA Rules - not the same thing at all; different process, different criteria for 'guilt', different burden of proof, disrepute elements in FA rules which are not in law etc etc etc.

Anyone else captaining Baines over RVP?
Open ControlsJust got in Berba this week 🙁 thinking about getting Zamora instead, scored TOT (away) MCI (away) NOR (away) and has WHU, wba, EVE, ars, REA for program...
Open Controlsits a tough choice to captain this GW, who is your captain.
Open ControlsDisgraceful play acting from Mineiro defender Rever.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agpnB5Tu4ZwOpen ControlsAguero or RvP for el capitano?
Open Controlsevery one flapping about tevez.
Open ControlsWho else is looking at their rival's page and the words
'gameweek transfers
1'
and saying" PLEASE BE BERBATOV!"
Or am I just a twisted individual?Open ControlsI´m more like: "please don´t be Fletcher"
Open ControlsYou shouldnt wish bad things on other people
Open ControlsEven better looking at gameweek transfers 1 and know they already have Berbatov (unless they have taken him out which I doubt)
Open Controlsgw1? That's some forward thinking!
Open Controls
i was so close to doing tevez to berba on sunday and decided on ba. 1-0 to me.
Open Controls
Yanks need to get some bitches up in that place for Tiger
Open ControlsPref porn stars
Open Controls
Despite the price rises (got him in at 6.9) should I be looking to ship Berbs until his back?
I am guessing we will see a price drop or two since his next game likely won't be until Oct 20th after the international break.Open ControlsYes imo. Forward slots are too valuable to sit on an injured player. Shouldn't difficult at all to get him back in.
Open ControlsI'm pondering this myself.
Open Controls...and Lambert or Fletcher as a short-term fix?
Open ControlsI'm on WC and I'm keeping Berba, it just means playing Sterling for nor and STO, which I don't mind doing. Were I sold on Fletcher or Ba I might do something else.
Open Controlsreally? On your WC I'd say you're mad to keep him. Never know how long the injury could last
Open Controls
how does this WC team look??
mannone (mccarthy)
baines davies cuellar (demel, hughes)
gaston ramirez, cazorla michu fellaini (sterling)
aguero (C), rvp, ba
1.6m in the bank!!Open ControlsDowngrade Fellaini to Pienaar or Ba to Lambert and sort out your keepers.
Open ControlsFulham away is also a bad captaincy option, even if its City or United.
Open Controls
you posted this a minuit ago.
Open ControlsPot, kettle
Open Controls
Needs Berba
Open ControlsKeepers are a mess. I wouldn't consider having one of those let alone both
Open Controls
Christ Berbatov injury has stuffed up my plans and this gameweek I am having to dig deep into the deadwood in my team. I need to play two of these guys, which pair?
Noble (qpr)
Clyne (eve)
Demel (qpr)
Maloney (sun)Open ControlsClyne + Noble for me.
But I haven't seen Maloney play at all this year so don't have an opinion on him.
Clyne vs. Baines is going to be a really good up and down battle. Clye could easily get in behind a few times and Everton aren't water tight. So I'm playing him.
And then I've gone Noble just cos it's a derby and scoring in a derby is the type of thing Noble might do! Not the greatest logic but there it is...Open ControlsNoble and Maloney for sure
Open ControlsI have a similar looking choice out of Hangeland, Demel, Maloney and Clyne (Berba on the bench).
I am currently going for Demel and Maloney, with Clyne and Hangeland on the bench in that order.Open Controls
If Aguero and Rooney start tomor am I nuts in thinking of getting rid of Tevez and VP and getting one or both of the former pair in ASAP?!
Open ControlsRVP will start tomorrow. Rooney may start too. Aguero will start tomorrow. Tevez may start too.
Don't get rid of either for either imo.Open ControlsI'd certainly be more inclined to keep VP than Tevez but of course with VP there's the big question mark over actual season-long value.......ponder....will see how things play out by 19:30 tomor anyway....
Open Controls
Or is that the way everyone is thinking he he he....
Open Controls
My selections tonight are Schalke (4/5), Lille (17/10) and Istres (11/5)
