To get the ball rolling, one thing we've looked at in our Moving Target article on Sanchez is what this means for Lingard & Martial. Regardless of whether they keep their starts - which I personally feel they will - if Sanchez comes in for Mata, that's still going to have a big impact on pitch time for that pair. Mata was automatically subbed by Mourinho each match he started. I can't see Sanchez getting hooked very often. So effectively, Mourinho has himself an extra player to sub. » Read

So the deals are done. Our Moving Target articles are done and will follow tomorrow with some data and analysis but what are your instant reactions to what the Sanchez and Mkhitaryan deals give us? Are they the catalyst for any change of strategy on your part? » Read

What's more conservative, saying that Aguero will score well so get him in for Newcastle at home, or saying that he doesn't look the player he was so don't take a hit and sell player X, avoiding captaining Kane to do it? I don't think we are hampered on the ScoutCast and come across as conservative. Like I say, it's very easy to say Aguero will score well in GW24 so sign him. As I pointed out, in other articles like Squad and Captain Sensible, we did say that. But it's far harder to be given the scenario whereby a manager has to sell a Christensen at Brighton (which should have been 6 points), not captain Kane (which could have been more than 8 points) and take a hit into the bargain for an 11.7 striker with 4 goals in 9 starts. On the ScoutCast we are all in those kind of scenarios and, given the variables we'd all considered, none of us went for Aguero. I reckon there were loads in that type of situation who now regret it but they're probably reasonable enough to accept why… » Read

I admit my mistakes all the time but they are just that. My mistakes for my team. I was thinking of doing Christensen to Chillwell and doing Morata to Aguero two weeks ago with GW24 in mind and never did. Kicking myself but had the reasons to make those decisions and I'm fine with it. But I'm kicking myself in private. I don't have to come on here every week and admit where I made mistakes. If I was sat with a manager who could have done Aguero their FT for a Morata I probably would have told them to do it. We all knew that Aguero would come out of the GW with some points. Would those points justify a hit, taking the armband off Kane and losing a premium defender? I personally didn't think so. There are a huge amount of variables. It's very difficult to give advice that fits all. That works for all teams. Give me a scenario and I can give you an opinion. And, surprise, surprise, sometimes that advice will turn out to be wrong. When goals and points are won for a touch of a… » Read

And you obviously just ignore everything we do and say. Like the Scout Squad - where Jonty, myself and Paul ranked him second in our forward picks. http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2018/01/17/the-scout-squad-gameweek-24-3/ Plus he was top of RMT as detailed in the Captain Sensible article. So it's not like we didn't acknowledge the danger of him delivering. He wasn't in the Picks due to budget - an error but we also explained that in the text. And that was at the crux of it. I believe getting Aguero was surgery for us on the ScoutCast - hits for some - and we weren't prepared to do that. » Read

Our opinions on the ScoutCast are based on our own teams, our own situations, budgets etc. We're honest is saying that none of us were going to bring him in and we didn't. We have to be able to give personal opinions without being petrified of misleading folk so we have to have faith that folk will make up their own minds. Otherwise the ScoutCast becomes a situation where we will be afraid to say a word that might backfire. Pretty bloody tedious. Of course we'd all have liked Aguero in for GW24 but none of his performances leading up to yesterday pointed to hat-trick and nor did his points tallies. Plus, one was a pen, one was barely a touch, the other put on a plate by Sane's brilliance. Fair enough if you and others think that Aguero is still the player he was. I still don't. I should be able to give that opinion without being asked to give public apologies should it be seen as a "mistake". It's getting ridiculous. » Read

I don't quite see it. Let's rule out the penalty kick and just look at Pickford from GW19. Like you say, DDG has kept double the number of clean sheets - 4 vs 2 for Pickford. But even so, DDG outscores him 29 vs 28 because Pickford has achieved 7 save points - at least 1 in every single match. So DDG got you 1 more point for one million more. And consider that, when Pickford does keep his 2 clean sheets, with is superior save and recoveries, he's more likely to gain bonus. » Read

  8. The Pre-Match Preamble - Gameweek 24 3 days, 16 hours ago

No worries. I'm too sensitive to it sometimes and it's more about what is said on social media by folk who don't know me from FFS or visit the site. It's hard to get across how much care I take to avoid being accused of manipulation or trying to gain an advantage. » Read

So what do you recommend? I sign players but tip different ones to get accused of giving people different advice and throwing them off the scent. Of course I end up writing about players I like and have myself, stands to reason. I'd be accused of being dishonest otherwise. Whatever I do, it seems folk look for one angle or another where I'm trying to eek some advantage. Gets me down to be honest. Do people just want to stop playing or stop trying to make a living? » Read

Only if Spurs score three goals at Southampton and United and Chelsea keep a clean sheet and score. I worry about all of those things tbh. Plus, if Firmino scores, he gets the bonus, not Salah 😉 » Read

I think there is a decent mix. Let's be fair to Granville, he got to the template before it was a template! He's always trying to mix it up. Also, I do try to inject a bit of imagination myself - I was fighting the tide on Tuesday though. In the defence of Andy and Jonty, they have their reasons to play conservatively which they did explain on the episode. » Read

It's all relative, he has an away fixture and he'll be sharing points with Firmino and Mane. That's not affecting Hazard and Lacazette because of Morata and Sanchez absence, so they've been boosted. As for City, they're just being projected a bigger win than Liverpool. » Read

Lol. No I just go away, try harder and come back for more. It's all good fun and it reveals that, when you get folk who are passionate about Fantasy Football and have different methodologies and even beliefs on how to play, it leads to that kind of exchange. Nothing wrong with that. I'm fully braced for Tuesday's. Certainly expecting a lacklustre Vardy to provide plenty of ammunition. » Read

I've got an ITK who says he's actually a really nice guy and United are trying to get him out there a bit more to try and get this across. Apparently he's struggled in interviews - comes across as deadpan when that's not his personality at all. I guess the Instagram thing was one of their efforts to push Lingard a bit more. » Read
