Seems a risk to have let Oviedo go with Galloway out on loan too. Baines is clearly creaking these days. » Read

See here...latest from the club communication - sadly, they're still hedging bets.http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2017/03/17/scout-notes-europa-league-thursday-8/?hc_page=3#hc_comment_15239095Club communication are persisting with language that suggests some doubt, although general opinion surely has to be that he'll start. » Read

Just on Baines again...Everton just posted this in team news this morning as a follow-up to their story yesterday - their stance on it hasn't changed this morning.http://www.evertonfc.com/fixtures/2010-to-2019/2016-2017/english-premier-league/everton-vs-hull-city"Leighton Baines has overcome his back complaint and should be available to play against Hull City this weekend. The left-back was substituted at half-time in last weekend’s 3-0 win against West Bromwich Albion, with Ramiro Funes Mori stepping off the bench to take his place. Baines was able to resume his work at USM Finch Farm on Thursday and is expected to be fit for Saturday when Everton go in search of a sixth successive home league win."So that's "should be available" and "expected to be fit".Neither of those statements indicate 100% certainty of fitness or availability and that's from the club, via the press department. I guess they echo Koeman's statements which were, "normally, he'd be available". Confiden… » Read

Well I'd guess I'd say a few more like that, to counter the official sites own rather more cautious reporting. Just a very odd headline to use if the noise from and around the club on his availability really is that positive. » Read

Sure, and if there are reports in his paper, the BBC, Guardian etc on Friday stating he's fit and available, the flag will likely come off at that point. As it stands, the club headline hasn't really echoed that tweet. » Read

There a weight of reports on Llorente, including the BBC and local press, stating he's fit and available. I don't think that's the case for Baines yet. To be fair, had the club's own press team used the headline "Baines fit for the weekend" instead, of "Baines should be fit" - it might have helped extinguish any doubt. Bit odd that, if he is fit and ready. » Read

Some sources say that Koeman was very definite about his return for next week but, in the post match presser I've heard, that quote wasn't included. What I did hear is that Baines "couldn't move" and therefore had to come off. Koeman is normally good with updates so we will likely know for sure later in the week. » Read

Agreed...that decision showed a degree of arrogance. Silva is too key as the link man to leave him benched.Rest when you've got the first two goals, not before. Pep goes on about asking his team to attack, even when winning games but then sets his team up without key attackers when starting at 0-0.I think he completely underestimated Stoke. » Read
