Selection

Metro Tips – Gameweek Ten

Gameweek Ten rolls on with our brief heads-up to Managers in the Metro Fantasy Football game that our “Picks” for the weekend are now live.

Once more we have chosen three “Bankers”, two “Punts” and one form player who has been “Bubbling Under” and threatens a major points haul. This week’s selections can be found here, but, as usual, we’d like to take this opportunity to mention a couple of players on the periphery who may also be worthy of consideration…

Unsurprisingly, there are some obvious selections who miss out, simply because team-mates offer stronger alternatives. Samir Nasri plays second fiddle to the maestro Cesc Fabregas, but remains a very promising proposition at home to the lowly Hammers; the same can be said for Dimitar Berbatov, looking to put his old club Spurs to the sword at Old Trafford in his usual languid, shoulder shrugging way.

It’s the “Punts” that spark the gamblers chance of course and, as always, there are plenty of contenders who just missed the cut. I see Richard Dunne burying the ghost of Gameweek last and notching strong defensive returns in Sunday’s local derby, while recent Watchlist favourite, Kevin Nolan, may turn some of his promising shooting stats into points in his own derby encounter against the Black Cats. I’ve also got an unhealthy hunch about Louis Saha’s prospects – 75% fit and in line to feature at home to Stoke.

Metro Managers can of course ignore these outlandish predictions and head on over to this link to discover which six men earned this week’s nominations.

Yeah it's a tad annoying. I would usually say play him and let a sub come on but he will probably get like 10 mins at the end if hes benched 🙁

I need to downgrade Enrique, and Arsenal seem to have a better chance of a cs than Newc (simpson being the obvious option)

Well I've given it ago, Enrique's done me no favours (watch him get a cleanie and assist) and I've got a forward in I want rather than have to settle on... Alcaraz isn't a disasterous sub if Djourou doesn't play...

So the Guardian’s squad sheets has Bosingwa starting. Good sign or are the fools at the Guardian wrong yet again?! In fact they don’t even have Ivanovic as being on the subs bench.

well chelseas next two fixtures are blackburn and liverpool away....while arsenals next two are west ham and newcastle at home....so i think its perfectly reasonable to think chamakh will outscore drogba in those two games...and then ill bring drogba back in for Chelsea following two fixtures(Fulham and sunderland at home)!

ancelotti did say something about chelsea having to play their own game and not let blackburn worry them too much, but the comments when asked if ivanovic would be needed seemed very conclusive.

I have a transfer to spend, and not sure I see a logical move. 0.9 in the bank...

It looks like I will have two transfers next week! I obviously have an addiction problem tinkering with the fantasy team!

Your team looks great. If I were you I'd save the transfer.

Hi guys. I've played my wildcard. Let me know what you think - I'm still thinking about changing things - particularly with my defence/keepers.

    Fabianski (Carson)
    Simpson Bosingwa Coleman (Jara, Dann)
    Malouda Fab(c) Nani Nasri (Brunt)
    Hernandez, Drogba, Carroll

Yeah I'm not certain about him either. Nice fixtures, but it depends when Almunia is back.

Only if it's a long term move. I don't think MC are as solid at the back as people thought and Wolves are playing better than they were.

    Fabianski - WHM,NEW,wol,eve

    Howard - STK,blp,BOL,ARS

    Gilks - WBA,EVE,ast,whm

    Krul - SUN,ars,BLA,FUL

    Madness yes / no?

    Davies & Malouda > Arteta/ Cahill & Young

Stoke have a virus in camp, Davies is due another 2 points and Malouda could be benched for Kalou, Young also on pens and frees and has excellent fixtures.

Not bad (I'm not a fan of getting rid of Malouda, but Cahill could be a good move for the next few weeks).

for 8 points it's tough to say yes. those players look good (i'm hugely impressed with young this season even if the fpl points aren't always coming with the performances) just not for 8 points.

In total lack of Arses in my team, I’m considering giving the C to Brunt this GW. What do you experts say about that? Who would you choose, given this team?

    Mignolet
    Mummy – Bosingwa – Coleman
    Nani – VdV – Brunt – Adam – Malouda
    Berbatov – Drogba

    Bench: Tevez, Konchesky, P. Jones
