Monday Dugout Discussion

Put up your feet, pour yourself another glass of mulled wine and grab that tin of Quality Street. After all it is christmas, and after all we’ve got another match to take in as we round out gameweek nineteen just as soon as it starts.

The Dugout Discussion closes it’s door for no-one and a festive game between Arsenal and Chelsea are no exception. Just nineteen weeks down and Arsene Wenger finally gets to start his two key players – Cesc Fabregas & Robin Van Persie – together for the first time this season, while the likes of Walcott finally get a start after weeks waiting patiently on the bench. Managerial heavyweight Carlo Ancelotti meanwhile gets to start Frank Lampard for the first time since August also. Team sheets in full are…

Arsenal: Fabianski; Sagna, Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy; Song, Fabregas, Wilshere; Walcott, van Persie, Nasri

Chelsea: Cech; Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Essien, Mikel, Lampard; Kalou, Drogba, Malouda

Come join the festive banter as we all gorge on treats ahoy together and close out the gameweek in the Dugout Discussion.

Nasri and Fabregas in the centre is too attacking.

And despite what Nasri thinks, he's better as a forward.

Even with a holding Song (who doesnt seem to hold alot)? Gooners av looked very good with Nasri in CM yet out wide he is not as effective on the game. IMO

Song doesn't hold, but he runs around a lot and puts his foot in. Wilshere does a bit of that too, while Fabregas doesn't as much. Nasri is more in the Cesc mould in that respect. He'll put in a shift, but nothing special.

Nasri is a bit more explosive than our cluster of centre mids, he can drift out of games, but is a constant threat in the final third. He's not as good at coming deep and starting off moves the way Wilshere and Fabregas are.

'Arsenal goal:Alex Song plays the ball to Jack Wilshere, who knocks it into a congested area. Cesc Fabregas latches on to the pass but appears to be fouled by Paul Ferreira and the ball breaks to Song, who slots home with a cool low finish.'

    Carroll, Torres, Elmander

0.6m in the bank. Any thoughts? I think I need to get VdV back in, or maybe Gerrard with Liverpool's run coming up. Don't know who should go though. Cahill has a few matches before he goes off for Asian cup, doesn't he?
