Scout Scribbles- Balotelli to Face FA Charge

Mario Balotelli faces a four-match ban after appearing to stamp on Scott Parker. Reports suggest Peter Crouch could also be under investigation for an alleged eye-gouging incident at the weekend, Nani could be out for a fortnight, while Frank Lampard is set to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup game with QPR.

Mario Balotelli has until tomorrow evening to appeal or accept the charges of violent conduct dished out by the FA last night. Having examined footage of the incident in which Balotelli appeared to stamp on Tottenham’s Scott Parker, referee Howard Webb confirmed he would have dismissed the Italian striker. A three-match ban is the normal punishment for such a charge, but with Balotelli already seeing red at Anfield earlier in the season, he now faces a four-match ban which will begin with tomorrow night’s Carling Cup tie with Liverpool.

Should Balotelli look to appeal, he will be eligible for tomorrow’s game, although an unsuccessful appeal could extend his ban further. Given that the FA have already used footage to assess the incident and the fact that we’re dealing with Howard Webb – the FA’s most senior official – it would seem most unlikely that the charge will be overturned. City may feel more confident, however.

For Fantasy managers, Balotelli’s likely absence from three league games against (eve, FUL, avl), will raise the profile of Edin Dzeko as an option. The Bosnian has started City’s previous four games and earned an assist in Sunday’s 3-2 victory. Having begun the season in outstanding form, Dzeko clearly has the potential to offer an effective differential and provide at least a short-term alternative to the 11.1 Sergio Aguero.

Peter Crouch is another striker potentially in trouble. A report in the Daily Mirror claims that the FA have agreed to examine footage of an incident which appeared to show Crouch gouging the eyes of West Brom’s Jonas Olsson. Crouch could miss the FA Cup match with Derby on Saturday as well as league games against Manchester United and Sunderland.

There are further details emanating from Old Trafford concerning the casualties suffered in Sunday’s 2-1 win at the Emirates. On the plus side, The Times are amongst those reporting that Phil Jones’ ankle injury is not as severe as anticipated, suggesting that he has not suffered the ligament damage that Sir Alex Ferguson feared. There’s possibly a chance that Jones will be fit to face Liverpool in the FA Cup this weekend, with reports claiming he is feeling no real discomfort in the ankle.

Nani is more of a concern, however. There are several reports stating a likely two-week absence for the Portuguese winger, who was said to leave the Emirates wearing a protective boot. The Daily Mail claim that Nani has himself stating a likely absence and state that United are set to scan the injury, for fear of a cracked a metatarsal. Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick are expected to be available for the weekend Cup tie, despite suffering ankle and hamstring problems respectively.

Chelsea hope to have Frank Lampard available for the trip to Swansea next week, after scans revealed that the midfielder suffered just a small tear to his calf muscle in the 0-0 stalemate at Carrow Road. Meanwhile, Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the reasons behind Gary Cahill’s omission from the Chelsea squad at Norwich.

Gary Cahill trained with the team for three days and there are team principles to learn first, but he had a very good week and showed all his qualities.

Cahill is in line for his Chelsea debut this weekend and could make his first league appearance for the club at the Liberty next week. He is already amongst the most popular defensive signings in the Fantasy Premier League game, attracting over 6,000 transfers so far in the Gameweek, despite his no-show on Saturday. Look out for our Scout Report on Cahill’s prospects later in the week.

Still in West London, and the Mark Hughes revolution looks set to begin with the capture of AC Milan left-back Taye Taiwo. Reports on Sky yesterday claimed that a work permit has been granted as the deal reached its conclusion. Fantasy managers will be monitoring the Loftus Road entrance for new arrivals prior to the transfer window closing, as Rangers approach a run of opponents that could see their Fantasy output increase dramatically. A move for City’s Nedum Onuoha is also mooted, although a potential deal for Chelsea’s Alex looks to be in jeopardy amidst reports that the Brazilian prefers a move to Paris St Germain.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Not quite true.

Liverpool asked for a certain amount, Adidas said no.
Liverpool got a kit deal elsewhere for more than what they originally asked Adidas for.

      Hope this helps.

    Kompany Evans Senderos Bardsley Enrique

    Silva Nani Demspey Bale McLean

    RVP Yak Sturridge

    £.8m in the bank.

I am top of my minileague and 2nd and 3rd have just bought Valencia so dont want to go down that route, plus not too keen on ManU fixtures.

        Bale Silva Valencia Dempsey Sessegnon

    Stockdale, Bogdan
    Evans, Clichy, Simpson, Kelly, Dawson
    Ferguson, Bale, Dempsy, Valencia, McClean
    RVP, Aguero, Rooney

Thinking about getting Welbeck and Silva for Rooney and Ferguson.. In that case I will be getting one midfield and I really want silva, considering city's fixtures, and I will get Welbeck instead of Roo, better form and cheaper. But in this case I would have to free up some money by selling Dawson and getting Shotton/Caulker but it will cost me a (-4) hit! Is it worth it?

Hmmm...I'm not so sure about Welbeck. MU rotate too much for my liking...downgrade Rooney to anyone cheaper that you prefer or see as an option and use the funds to upgrade Ferguson.

Your keepers need to change at some point I feel...just an opinion..Stockdale will go as soon as Schwarzer is back. Bogdan is... well...not my cup of tea. I think Clichy is also someone you can look to change around...but maybe not as important to right now. SPURS are heading into some tricky games so Dawson may need shipping out at some point.

I would make suggestions for alternatives but that may put you the same bracket as most other teams so I won't go there but least you know which players (I think) need looking at.

        Good luck either way...

I have 2 free transfers and still my WC to play...and I have already done NANI to DEMPSEY so...my plans are:

    BAE to Kompany
    Ward to Evans
    Enrique to Simpson
    Moses to Dyer (or Surman?)
    Ade to Aguero

I wanted to use my 2 free this week (Dempsey and Evans in for Ward) and WC next week. Reason being I want my Spurs players for the Wigan game. If I WC this week it will take me 2 Gameweeks to move the Spurs players out for Kompany/Aguero where as my original plan will mean I have my team set immediately for the following GW.

So...do I WC this week or next and how are my options looking for who I want in?

      dont WC!!!

plenty of good options to field XI, plus you get early look at team sheets, save your other transfer for deadline time and bring in a good punt!

      save it

I think u go with WC this week if u decided not to then get aguero in (very good run of fixtures) or even get dzeko because Balo is suspended next three games.

you have a good squad now for the most part. I would drop bae and/or enrique and get a city defender. wait for another gw of results to decide on your attack. it looks good now but everything changes.

Wow, looks like a lot buying Welbeck, is he a safe pick at the moment?
Any chance chicharito will start in his place?
I have 8.4 for a striker, best choice would be welbeck?(Welbeck to Ba on gw24/25)
(I can't bring dzeko since i already got 3 MCY players)

How do people have 5 decent midfielders? I've got

Mata, Bale, Nani, Sessegnon, Ben Arfa

All who should be starting this weekend but it means sacrificing a striker. 4 strong mids, 1 filler mid or 3 strong and two rotating. When they don't rotate and both should play, it's such a hard decision. I'll end up benching Mata or Ben Arfa.

Forget about GW choices for a minute and who rotates well with who.

If you had to choose 5 Midfielders that you could not change for the rest of the season, who would it be? Who's going to be the biggest point magnets?

From now until the end of the season I reckon it will be these 5

Bale, Silva , Gerrard, Mata, Valencia would be mine.

    What do you lot think?

        why LOL @ Gerrard?

If you look at the midfield of Liverpool - he's had an instant impact since his return.

Liverpool are not playing well at all I accept, and it's been a painful season.

Not going to blame Dalglish - he's brought what lots have thought were very good established premiership players... the players just have not turned it on. Lots of other issues which I won't go into... but a little harsh on Gerrard - he's quality, takes pens and freekicks, corners, and can whip them in

because Liverpool won't get enough penalties for him to outscore every other midfielder bar 4..
I never said he wasn't quality, but he isn't a good FF player with Liverpool not scoring + him playing so deep.

I wouldn't pick players based on how they go till the end of the season. Form comes in patches so base decisions on form and fixtures. Its not as if you will keep the same 5 till the end of the season its not realistic

Yeah, too many players were going up and down in price. I needed to do it last night to get the team i wanted.

Sess is gone for Diego Walters next week.
Kaboul is in for the Home games with Wigan & maybe Newcastle.
Should know if Cahill starts before the deadline, might just be patient with him, no other defenders jump out at me for that price.
