Scout Scribbles- Ba Happy with Wide Role

Demba Ba maintains he has no problems playing on the left for Newcastle. Gary Cahill joins David Luiz as an injury worry for Chelsea. The injuries rack up for Blackburn, Everton are sweating over Leighton Baines’ fitness, while Royston Drenthe’s disciplinary problems raise their head once more:

Demba Ba has spoken out on his new role at Newcastle following the arrival of Papiss Cisse and the recent emergence of Hatem Ben Arfa. Ba has been stationed on the left-flank in recent matches and, resultantly, has scored just a single goal since January. Ba, for now at least, seems content with the situation…

As a striker you like to be in the striking position but now the coach has made a decision. He has decided for Papiss to be there. I do what I have to do to balance the formation for the good of the team. If I can be in the finishing area I do everything to be there, if I cannot, we do the work for Papiss….I like to be up front but lately the coach has decided to play with three strikers (Hatem Ben Arfa is the other) and I do not mind playing on the side….If I score, that’s great, but if I don’t score there is someone else who does.

Ba’s decline in Fantasy terms have been stark. He’s failed to return a goal or an assist in nine matches, whilst Cisse has flourished into a prolific scorer and top Fantasy target. Ba’s FPL price has dropped through the floor having peaked at 8.0 in Gameweek 26 – he is now available for just 7.1 with few considering him an option following Cisse’s stunning run that has brought him eight goals in his last five league outings with maximum FPL bonus in every one of those matches.

Royston Drenthe’s days as a maverick Fantasy pick look over. Everton have revealed that the Dutch winger was omitted from their semi-final squad for the clash with Liverpool due to a “disciplinary matter”. Reports claim that Drenthe failed to turn up for a training session on Friday, with the suggestion that his future at Goodison may now be over. The Dutchman has struggled to win the trust of his manager David Moyes, despite producing some effective displays which have brought him three goals and six assists in the Premier League. His direct attacking play had, for short periods, seen him flash on the Fantasy radar but given these latest developments, he looks unlikely to be seen in Everton colours in the remaining four matches.

Everton have more pressing concerns involving the fitness of Leighton Baines, after the left-back was forced off late on in the semi-final defeat suffering from a hamstring problem. The club have revealed that Baines will now undergo a scan ahead of next weekend’s trip to Old Trafford. Baines himself brought us this hopeful prognosis…

We’ll do a scan in the next couple of days…I don’t think it’s going to be too bad. We’ll just have to wait and see.

While Fantasy managers won’t be overly concerned on Baines’ fitness ahead of the United clash, he is, nonetheless, a prime target for transfers for the Toffees double Gameweek fixtures with Fulham and Stoke.

Gary Cahill is another defender firmly on the radar for the double fixtures in Gameweek 36. He will face two home encounters with QPR and Newcastle and, with David Luiz picking up a hamstring injury in Sunday’s semi-final, would seem set up to play both games, given the rib problems still endured by skipper John Terry. Our enthusiasm for Cahill should be tempered somewhat, however, with news that the former Bolton man left Wembley with an injury of his own. Reports are vague but suggest that Cahill has a foot problem which adds him to the list of doubts for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Steve Kean’s troubles are mounting on and off the pitch once again. Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea left them floundering in the bottom three and counting the casualties. Grant Hanley, Yakubu and Junior Hoilett all picked up problems. It’s feared that ankle ligament damage may have ended Hanley’s season, with Steve Kean giving us a gloomy prognosis post-match…

Grant Hanley has quite a bad ankle injury, Yakubu is feeling his patella tendon on his knee so he had to come off and also Junior Hoilett has come off with a hamstring injury. Grant Hanley could miss the rest of the season, and we hope that we’ve caught Yakubu and Hoilett in time, but Grant is a huge doubt.

Hanley’s potential absence is compounded by off-pitch wranglings with Gael Givet. Reports suggest that he was fit and able to take part at Swansea but was left out of the Rovers squad by Kean who revealed outside factors were at play…

I spoke to Gael this morning and after having a chat with him it was very apparent to me that he was nowhere near in the right mindset to be involved in this game…I don’t want to go into the reasons why, we’ll keep that private, but there was no way he could have been on the pitch today.

Rovers are now three points from safety and face crucial home encounters with Norwich and Wigan, with testing trips to Spurs and Chelsea also ahead of them. Next weekend’s meet with the Canaries is surely pivotal – fail to find three points in that one and Kean’s sideseem doomed.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Player of the year has to be RVP imo. Been doing it all season, none of the others have. Except maybe Hart, and while he has been consistently great he hasn't put in the same calibre of performance as RVP imo.

Young player is a bit harder to call. I'd aybe say Walker tbh, he has really come through this season. Welbeck, Bale and Aguero all have a good shout too though imo.

    RMT for this week please:

    Vorm (Bogdan)
Vermaelen | Jevans | Kompany (Caulker, Kilgallon)
Walcott | Dempsey | Valencia | Sessegnon (Sigurdsson)
    Aguero(C) | RVP(VC) | Tevez

Dont know what your reactions will be to me having both Tevez & Aguero. Lol.

And for DGW 36 I am going to use my wildcard and I’m planning the following transfers:

    Aguero/Tevez >>> Cisse/Adebayor
    Vermaelen >>> BAE
    Kompany >>> Baines
    Sessegnon >>> Bale

And i may also do Jevans >>> Terry. But undecided on that one.

    Look good?

Aside from the two Liverpool games, Everton have been in scintillating form. With VDV seemingly off pens, Pienaar looks a great shout.

As I'm abandoning Operation HBA, I'm simply deciding on Everton/Spurs players and it's a rather tricky business. Four questions:

-which one is worth a hit?
-which one looks best for 37 and 38?
      -who is captain material?
-who do you fear the most?

If Chelsea won the Champs League and Arsenal finished 3rd in the league.

Would Arsenal have to qualify next season??

yeah they wud as far as uefa wud be concerned they become 1 of the top seeds as winners and as england has 3 top seed spots and 1 other spot then 3rd place wud become that other spot therefore having to qualify!!!

Evening, any thoughts on when I should play my WC? Trying to outwit my main rival and I suspect he will play his WC in GW 36. Should I go for gold in GW 35 or wait for GW 36? Any thoughts/advice will be appreciated.

    Evening guys

Perhaps you can help me with my dgw dilemma...

Simple choice of a or b...

    A. Sell Rooney this week for aguero, play 5 in mid ( inj yak on bench ). Then gw36 bring in Adebayor for Rooney and cisse for yak week = 7 dgw players.

    Or...

    B. Keep Rooney this week, bring in Cisse for yak (inj). Still bring Adebayor next week for Rooney, and upgrade Vorm/Minge for Friedel = 8 dgw?

I will play Friedel then in 37 and 38 as Vorm & minge games are shocking, but it does mean risking it with no city coverage this week v wolves.

    Any comments appreciated.

    Cheers

I have 1 on the bench, and also got 7 for a small boost. Have a 39 point lead in my cash ML, he has Arteta to play, I have Verm and Theo (we both have RvP as c)

If Theo and Verm can get 8 points between them I can rise up to 4th in another, bever expected to be that high, but am nearly 70 off top spot. Still very happy.

Am aiming for 5k this year.

Tevez (c) may well help with that.

Speaking of the Tevez vs Aguero issue:

    a) Aguero plays higher up.
    b) 2 of Tevez's goals were oppurtunistic
    c) Aguero is more assured of a start
    d) Aguero is currently on penalties
    e) Aguero seems more like MCYs "Target-man" when they build play.
    f) I'd feel safer captaining Aguero, cause many teams in the top echelons will, and a captain fail blow is softened a BIT

    g) Tevez is owned only by 1.4% of teams.
    h) A captain fail on Tevez would be disastrous.

Aguero looks the safer pick with the more ownership and less differential. But it's a punt right? WTH I might as well get Tevez.

      Think Tevez is more explosive.

If you are chasing, Tevez. If not, Kun.

That said, I have a healthy lead with #2 & #3 both with Aguero so I am likely going Tevez in the spirit of the game.

    Up the Gunners! 😀

"Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
    But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
    This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
    But we in it shall be remember'd;
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day!"

    Hi guys,

I know we're going to get a lot of these coming up and I know they'll get boring very quickly, but...

This is my probable team for GW 36

    Vorm
    Kelly S - Caulker - Baines
    Walcott - Sigurdsson - Bale - McClean
Pogrebnyak - Van Persie - Cisse

    Ruddy - Turner - Evans J - Valencia

Is it worth doing McClean -> Pienaar for a hit?

Thanks guys. My last GW36 question. Promise!
