The ScoutCast – Episode Seventy Six – Preparation D

Hitting the airwaves early this week, the ScoutCast makes a return to the fray with preparations for the double fixtures still using up our headspace. Mark and I rinse through the latest permutations of Gameweek 36, almost exhausted by the tactical nuances on offer. It’s almost too much for a Tuesday afternoon.

Of course, the podcast regulars rear their head and I do my upmost to keep my chin up despite the mini-league gap: Mark tries desperately not to gloat and fails as always. You never know – maybe all those eggs he’s put in the basket of Gameweek 36 are destined to be scrambled.

So guys a quick RMT please:

    Krul
    Turner - Verm - JEvans
Demps - Nani (Vc) - Ryo - Siggy
    Cisse - RvP - Tevez (C)

    Subs: Vorm - Wally - Caulker - Kaboul - (2.0mill)

After reading Hennessey is out was thinking RvP for Aguero, but not sure. What are your thoughts on this and my teams/subs. Cheers guys!

    Anyone fancy a Torres punt?

Nailed on to start v Arsenal and surely will play against QPR assuming Drogba starts the second leg. Toss up between the pair for the Newcastle game depending on who RDM fancies for the Cup Final.

    Hi guys,

I took a punt on Daniel Sturridge prior to Chelsea's home game with Wigan and it didn't pay off ! Do you guys reckon he might see much action in the DGW ? Need him to do something for me. I might as well stick at this stage of proceedings. Get rid for Jelly fish after that GW, maybe....

So I think I'm going to role with the Ade/Rooney/RvP front line into my wildcard so I'm going to sell Sess for a big hitting midfielder. Should I go for

    A) Old Faithful Dempsey

    B) Nasri/Silva for a potential thrashing against Wolves?

Nah, I like Rooney to smash Everton and I'm too scared to sell RvP, especially with how much I'd lose. I could get Aguero in for Adebayor, but I'm not convinced by Aguero. Bad memories.

Got a twitchy knee at the moment and need help:

    Walcott Sess Siggy Valencia Dempsey
    RVP Rooney Cisse

Got a WC so this is a one week punt to try and make the top 100...

Rooney to Tevez? Seems the sensible move but Rooney's averaged 9ppg at home over the last 6!

I think I would rather sell RvP than Rooney actually. Seems like blasphemy and I'll be keeping both of them but even when Rooney doesn't play well he scores big. RvP might only get 1 or 2 opportunities per match.

That's what I was toying with. RVP has better fixtures, so I can just keep him and not lose the £0.8m (bought at £11.9m).

        But selling Rooney seems risky!

Big guns I'm doubtful about this week:

Bale - Spurs still in anaemic form and QPR are notably strong at home
Valencia - Everton are just difficult to break down.
Rooney - Ditto, plus penalties are keeping him afloat right now, in open play it's not that stunning.
Walcott - Granted Chelsea will be tired, but it's a very different defence from AVB's 5-3 implosion. Sometimes Walcott explodes, sometimes he's completely out of the game - I suspect the latter here.

No not necessarily, I think there is still good value in some non-dgw teams. Sigurdsson vs wolves as an example. If I had a wildcards I would prob play 9 dgw players. Siggy and maybe rvp.

Just playing this through and I think probably not. I'll probably have (with my WC):

      Friedel (Bogdan)
Huth Baines Cahill / (Liverpool) (Verm)
Siggy Dempsey Bale / (Walcott) (ANOTHER)
      Adebayor Cisse Jelly

      9 or 10.

Will Chelsea really be that weakened at the weekend? They're flying man, can't see whatever team is played capitulate against and Arsenal team who aren't playing that well...

or maybe I'm trying to justify getting rid of RvP and benching Walcott....

I think we are flying too. CHance for Kalou and Sturridge IMO. We could win it especially if Drogba plays. I am on the same line. To sell RVP and to bench Walcott

    What do you think of:
    Yak + Walcott > Aguero (c) + Reo Coker

Reo Coker will be on the bench but should at least get 3-4 points if I do need him to come on.

Not really would have to ditch Simpson. Plus as punts go it's hardly inspiring. Krul > Given (c) has crossed my mind this week - thats how bad it's got.

Cisse in for Yak means I'd still need to save 1.8 - can't see anybody around the 7.5 mark worth going on. Maxi or Lennon perhaps but both are uber punts.

My source is an 'in the know' on an Everton forum. I have been reading it for years and he's never wrong. I'm sure you won't remember, but I posted about Drenthe's disciplinary issues months before they came out and I got that info from him.

Yep, Lampard is showing cracks though. Not rounded enough for a 4-man or less midfield, so useless for England. There aren't enough mids to over his weaknesses. Gerrard and Parker combo should be good.
