The Big Numbers – Gameweek 17

While Sunday brought a rather tepid conclusion to the weekend’s action, the lack of incident allowed us more time to digest the numbers behind the Gameweek so far. In this latest foray into the depths of our members data, we offer further insight on the performances of Adel Taarabt, Raheem Sterling and David Silva not only for this weekend, but the last four Gameweeks and season so far. As for Glen Johnson, well, we’ll let the numbers do the talking…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just needs 400 more - had 350 in the last hour, will be tight - Transfers tend to slow down late at night, but when its this close maybe people will act now just in case he rises.

    Suarez RVP Fletcher

Actually know idea what to do with the Fellaini situation. 1 FT, 0.8 in the bank. No obvious direct replacement & more less have to take an 8 point hit to do anything i'm comfortable with..

    Any ideas?

What's the consensus on Sterling then? I've never owned him, but it seems his stats are good and decent returns are only just around the corner.

Looking at a potential hit this week: Sess & Fellaini -> Mata/Bale & Sterling

    Worth it?

    Jaask, Fed
    Enrique, Cuellar, Hughes, Clyne, McCartney
    Silva, Walcott, Fellaini, Sessegnon, Taarabt

Yeah, at 5.7m he's a bit pricey I guess. Swaying his way though as he rotates better with Taarabt (my 4th mid) up to the Jan WC. Would give me: FUL, WBA, LIV, SUN

Same feeling as the others. He was good value, but isn't great anymore. No need to transfer him if you've got him, but little need to get him otherwise (unless you just want him until January WC with good fixtures to come). I'll probably get Puncheon now (for Fellaini) and send Sterling packing come January.

I brought him in for 4.6 so he was great for that price but at 5.7 I am not sure he is worth it..

Those moves however do look good for a hit. Have you considered Puncheon? 1.0m cheaper but could score quite similar to Sterling..

Yeah, looking at Puncheon also but his fixtures don't rotate as well with Taarabt, and I don't think he's as advanced as Sterling. Lining up a semi contraversial Ba ->Berba after this week, so funds in the bank not essential for me, given I'm wildcarding asap in the Jan WC....

You reckon the hit is worth doing instead of just Fellaini -> Yaya/Nolan?

Reckon you should keep Sess for 1 more game, He had a lot of chances the last game and looked pretty decent and got the assist. Fellaini out for someone like Pilkington? Then you have options next week to take Sess out for anyone basically. Mata, Bale, Santi, Hazard will all be gettable next week. This is what i'm doing 😉

I do me get all the Sterling love. Fast and big dribbler, but he does not produce for that price. I would assume many here have him because they got him cheap. But I agree that Puncheon seems a much better value. I would do Yaya for Fellaini this Gw and keep Sess.

Michu is done at his price IMO, that ship has sailed long ago! Saw a stat aswell that suggests he won't keep up his scoring. 57% goals to shots ratio. Messi and Ronaldo are mid 30s.

Yeah, that's what I said at 7.0. He is not done. He is class. This is not a flash in the pan. Even if the scoring slows (and it may well), he is full value for his current price.

I agree he is class, but his goal to shot ratio is unsustainable in that Swansea team. They will finish 12-9th I think, 100% agree if u got him at 6.5-7 keep but don't be surprised to see him slow down! If he gets 20 league goals ill be surprised.

I agree he is likely to slow his pace. Just don't agree that he still isn't worth his price. Swansea is a mediocre team, but he is the focal point of all their offence. And he can score.

Rotation is a waste of time during xmas. All 15 players will be needed with the odd player rested or suspended. More often than not he will be playing both of them.

Cheeky punt on Taraabt (in for Fellaini)? The 'Arry effect plus he's now playing in the hole. Or Ya Ya Toure for the fixtures?

      Both Punts in my opinion.
Taraabt is a notoriously frustrating player from a fantasy perspective. But as you say there is reason to try him out (even on 4 yellows) because of the new manager.

Yaya will get you 2pts with some baps thrown in. Attacking points should be considered a bonus.

In order to win a crucial head to head this weekend I need Walcott to not play and Shorey to get at least 6 points. Do I have a chance? Is there any likelihood that Arsenal will struggle to score a goal perhaps helped by the fact that Walcott isn't playing? or am I really only relying on attacking returns for Shorey?

Wondering if Adam Johnson to Silva is worth a hit. I know I could wait a week as AJ has a good fixture, but Silva's is even better. And I've got defensive issues that I need to start addressing next week or the busy Christmas schedule will wreak havoc with what I've got right now. Any thoughts? Thanks.

According to this article, the chances created don't back that up. He is creating chances galore, just not yet getting the points. Home to Reading seems as good a time as any for the points to follow (but I do get your point ... better a week late than six early). Cheers.

Well gameweeks 1 and 3 he got 7 and 9 points against Southampton and QPR. Honestly, I think you're paying for a guy who probably won't get many attacking points unless you get lucky, but is guaranteed to be playing for a team that will a) win, b) score lots of goals, and c) keep clean sheets.

Hey guys, been a while between post but got a tough call on Def this week: which 2 would u play from Demel, clyne & Cuellar. Currently thinking Demel & Cuellar.

Also, looking at Tevez for Berb, % chance of a Tevez rest this week v reading?

Surely Mancini won't rest Tevez after the criticism he got after the United game. How could Tevez even need a rest anyway? With Balo and Dzeko both under performing, i don't think Tevez will be benched.

Totally agree. But I didn't foresee Tevez being benched for a run of games after 2 goals and 2 assists. You can never be certain with Mancini. Rotation seems likely over the heavy run of fixtures, but I think you can say that about most players. Seems like it has to be Aguero and Tevez for the majority of games now, though. They are clearly the two best.

Yeah, it's true that we can never know with any surety what Mancini will do. There's a theory that Aguero is more likely to be rested since they're playing Reading, and Aguero is first choice and might be kept 'safe' for the bigger games down the line.

That is a tough call. Think I would lean to Cuellar and Clyne as potential for offence from Clyne is a bit higher than from Demel. I don't think Everton have been blanked many times this year. Probably not much in it, I expect. Go with what your gut tells you.

I'm riding Nastasic and hoping for the best in terms of rotation. I had Zabaleta earlier in the year and that was a clusterf***. I had Clichy for long periods last year and that too was a clusterf***. Aside from Kompany, you are always going to lose some CS to rotation.

    Bego
    Enrique Bassong O'Brien
    Michu Mata Walcott Fellaini
    Suarez Ba RvP

subs – McCarthy Sterling Nelsen Shorey

3 Liv players are overkill given their current form (i think so), & City players are too good to ignore atm, so should i:-
