Back for 2013, fully refreshed, slightly rusty and balancing the same chips on our shoulders, Granville are I make a return to the podcast studio.

The New Year presents my beleaguered co-host with a 51-point gap to bridge as I spent Christmas “ho-ho-ing” about three midfield hat-tricks, leaving Granville to roll out one mighty miffed in this week’s episode.

Elsewhere, we pick at the double Gameweek buffet, eagerly scoffing on the Chelsea canapés whilst wondering if Rafa has hidden something nasty in the vol-a-vents. We rinse that down with the latest transfers in and out in “all aboard”, preview all the weekend fixtures and carry out the latest emergency surgery on the ailing ScoutCast team.

So the girlfriend's team that has just overtaken me with a 112 pt GW currently has as DGW cover: O'Brien, Demel, Noble (and Mata).
I have Luiz and Mata. And knowing her luck, she is gonna win.

    yes, and was fortunate enough to have Michu at 6.5, Beggers and Jussi at 4.5, RVP at 13.0 etc. That helps too... 110.1 value now.

    Yes, needed CHEAP so I could go with the hot 5 midfielders, and then I know who to bench. Last 4 he's either assisted or scored in too surprisingly. Was between him and Pog. Both 4.3 I believe. If that doesn't work out, will do one of the big 5 mids to a cheapie and upgrade him or Ba.

O'Brien out is kind of forcing me into playing the wild card.

I was really going to hold off and run with the team as is in my link.....

I hate myself it is just another fkking template team..... then again I suppose if I waited two weeks I would just put in whatever the template team is in two weeks time, because they are I suppose, templates for a reason. Its not like there is any special knowledge required to realise BA and MATA may be good options this week, eh?

Posted this on the previous page and got nothing but snottiness. Anyone willing to give actual advice?

On a WC and have two options; would be grateful for advice.

One has Turnbull and is the one I prefer; the other is in case it looks like he might only play against Stoke. What I want to know is if the second one is just better even IF Turnbull is nailed on:

Turnbull (Chesney)
Baines, Shaw, Turner (Sagna, Demel)
Mata, Fell, Michu, Bale (Walcott)
RVP, Ba, Lambert

Mata and Ba to Suarez and WHam mid for GW23

Bunn (Chesney)

  I think i prefer the 2nd one for the coming 2 double gameweeks. Tweet was posted earlier saying Cech may be back for Saturday, from the horses mouth. No reason to not believe that tweet imo, so you'll get 1 game out of Turnbull max and then you'd want to sell him. However i don't fancy Arsenal's defence for the DGW, but can understand Gibbs for the attacking returns. I wouldn't be comfortable with either of those GK combo's after the DGW, and i imagine it would be annoying to use a transfer on them so i'd probably get a defender from Chelsea instead. 2nd midfield is inferior to the first, but it has a slightly better defence. Nothing wrong with your front line imo. Though i don't think you need to get Suarez in, as a must after the DGW so you could perhaps use the funds to get Fellaini for Noble?

  If you're on a WC I'd think you'd want to get better keepers, since it will be hard to exchange them later as there's always other needs. Though like the rest of the team (hard who to bench decisions on the front 8 though!)

  Thanks all, especially Demi for a really thoughtful response. Really helps me make my mind up. Fwiw, I intend to get Bego in straight after GW23 or 24; I know that is not efficient but I have reasons for wanting to maximise the benifits of the DGWs.

  my dilemma exactly. i've switched a couple times. now after watching the cup tie last night i am thinking begovic as chelski looked terrible and qpr did the same to them not too long ago. but villa have been awful as well. i think the home game for begovic tips it plus with cuellar not looking likely to play i can slot in demel for the possible hammer clean sheet.

  8th attacker bench fodder is needed. Trust me it costs more points in the long run despite looking great on paper.

  adebayor is apparently available this weekend so i would say ditch defoe as tevez certainly starts and has been lethal when everyone has ditched him this season.

Random thought. How much would Denis Irwin have been worth in FPL

This was guy who never missed a game, kept plenty of CS, was on set-pieces (when Becks wasn't around) and on penos once Cantona went, and he was attacking and weighed in with goals and assists. Essentially he was Leighton Baines, but with added clean sheets

  Looking at his history, just 1-2 goals most seasons at Utd. He was no Baines. For Utd defenders Bruce would have been FPL gold one season - 13 goals in 31 games 😯
