Monitor – Marouane Fellaini & Michu

The two most popular midfield options in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Michu and Marouane Fellaini have stumbled over the last few Gameweeks in terms of attacking returns. Over their last five appearances, Michu has treated his 49% owners to just one goal and a single assist, while Fellaini’s 34% owners have received only one assist, though the Belgian has somewhat redeemed himself by collecting five bonus points in the last two matches.

Nevertheless, their recent lack of form is something of a worry. Although both have mainly been utilised in their usual role in “the hole” for Swansea and Everton respectively of late, Michu has also been fielded as the lone striker, while Fellaini has dropped deep into central midfield on occasion, as highlighted in the second-half of last Monday’s goalless draw at Southampton and Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Bolton. The duo have continued to rack up the transfers in over the last few days, though; Fellaini is third most popular midfielder ahead of next Tuesday evening’s deadline, with over 43,000 FPL managers snapping up his services, while Michu’s bandwagon rolls on relentlessly, with 30,000+ new owners finding a place for the Spaniard in their 15-man squads.

We take a look at each player’s recent form, comparing their displays to previous performances in order to ascertain whether there’s been a reason for a sudden shortage of Fantasy points:

Perhaps, but when they were signed we were a top side, getting into CL and going far. When you sign an international for £6-7m that can hardly be called a waste of money. Rafa always got rid of those that didnt work out pretty quickly for a small loss.

What i meant was the worst signings we made was made by Kenny/Commoli and Roy.

Hargreaves is a harsh one I feel, unbelievably talented player when United bought him, just ravaged by constant injuries. But its no contest really, no club wastes money quite like Liverpool. Suarez is the only good signing they have made in years, and he will soon be off to Bayern

Hargreaves was voted Englands player of the tournament at the 06 world cup and had a very good career at Bayern Munich (including a champions league win). Regarding Suarez, would you rather play for Bayern, a team that will be challenging for the champions league, or Liverpool, a team that will be challenging for.....nothing!

Lol youre exaggerating. Very good careeer = 145 games in 7 seasons, thats an injury plagued player if i ever saw one. Sure, he might have been Englands best player 06`WC, i cant remember. Then again they went out in the QF, so that doesnt really impress anybody.

Suarez loves the club, he loves the team, he loves the town. He`s integral in the squad and has a great relationship with the manager and we`re up and coming again. Would you exchange that for a team with tons of competition playing for a manager who cant handle strong personalities?

Bertrand was poor, along with most of Chelsea team.

He is uber cheap but will prob only play next 2 games at most. doesnt score or assist usually either.

If you are wildcarding next week then why not otherwise you will want him out pretty soon

Didnt watch the game, but even if he does start, which is far from guaranteed, he`ll 100% be out of the team once Hazard has served his ban. Stay away from him would be my advice.

neither am i... but Fergie knows what he's capable of and seems like he's trying to give more gametime possibly knowing he will need him... so many decisive games coming up we'll surely see more of Nani untill the end of the season; and for me he's still the best winger at Utd when fit

Anybody considering dropping RVP in a couple of weeks when CL starts up again? I think he will see rotation now that Rooney is back and playing well with Hernandez upfront. Could allow a front 3 of Aguero, Suarez, Rooney. Rooney will see less rotation IMO as he plays better when playing consistently. But then again he is off pens now so not sure yet.
