As we close on a century of episodes it was time to freshen things up and bring new voices to accompany my drone and that of grumpy Granville. In this weeks’ episode, we draft in both “Professor” Chris Atkinson and his “Rate My Team” computer, plus long-time community member and contributor, Jonty, for a new ScoutCast regular.

Don’t worry, the usual format remains intact although, having recorded this just minutes after last night’s whistles, Granville escapes the usual mini-league grilling. Not surprisingly, there’s plenty of “Granny’s miffed” to endure, plus “All Aboard” and the weekend preview. That’s’ rounded off by the “Full Jonty” a brand new feature that will bring you, the community, into our weekly ramblings.

    GW 26: So many plans have been running through my head and finally decided that I need Suarez + another pool player..!!

    So podolski,Zaba> Suarez, Enrique + i will have to downgrade Jcole> 5.2 midfielder for a -4 hit.. already have Davies..

    Please suggest a 5.2 priced mid who can play both GW 26 and 27 so that i can manage without taking a hit on GW27..

    Afternoon guys.. I just wanna tell you that I FINALLY figured it out yesterday after about 8 hours of toil...

    I can now rest easy knowing that I will have Gerrard AND Suarez in the DGW… and all for the price of just a single hit…

    Since it's the DZ, I can afford to go through it in a bit more detail...

    Save my FT this week, bench Gibbs... and play Harte...

    You may have noticed that this plan leaves me without a Pool defender but I really only wanted GJ, but I couldn't afford him, so I didn't see the point in taking hits just to accommodate him... I think I can live without him... I also will need Gibbs to be back for Villa, if he isn't then I'll take a hit to get Baines back in and instead of Silva get someone cheaper like Fellaini/Cabaye etc...

    I have plans to replace Begovic and Turner to Mignolet and Wilson, then everything will be perfect...

    Of course something will happen between now and then for this to change, but it doesn't stop me from feeling good about it now... 😀

          I can't afford Baines & Pod > GJ and Suarez with my 2 FTs, so it makes sense to go with Gerrard, rather than settle for Enrique, who may or may not play both...

              they paid around £10m for a player who is tied for CL what do you think he's here for?! plus with Gibbs injured is there a better time for him to settle in, and surely Wenger can make a better use of Gibbs against Bayern

          also you need all hands on deck for gw27 cant carry a passager like gibbs

          you may as well make it a -8 and lose him now if you set on this plan , at least then you wont lose any team value and will have a useful replacement in the meantime

      OK. All read and processed. Makes perfect sense and looks like a very good entry and exit plan for 4 DGWers. Good idea to hold onto Suarez and Turner is great cover for GW26 & 27.

      My only comment is that it's a shame you are losing Gerrard for Liverpool's great fixtures until almost the end of the season. Is there any way you can sell Michu instead?

        instead of gerrard you could get henderson or downing instead , then you could keep baines and have 6.6 for a top defensive replacement , so wouldnt need a bum like turner

        I could sell Michu and bring Fellaini back in, but with 3 home games in the next 4, I'd expect Michu to score a few...

        Don't know if I can part with him, I still think he'll come good again...

        Also, this would mean having 2 Pool attackers and no Citeh attack, you think that is better?!

              For me it's the individual players that matter as opposed to the numbers, not so hot on cover myself. Gerrard and Suarez look better to me than Silva and Suarez from GW27 yes.

    Think I've settled on my WC team. Bear with me because it will look odd at first.

    Krul, Guzan
    GJ, Azpilicueta, Fabio, Davies, Harte
    Mata, Michu, Walcott, Taarabt, Maloney
    Giroud, Sturridge, RVP

    Enough money in the bank to do Giroud to Suarez next week for the DGW. Then after that it'll be a hit with Suarez going to Cisse and another Swansea/Liverpool player out for someone that I haven't decided yet. Great rotation with my defenders and keepers.

      I like your cheap defenders. I have the same 3 with my WC. I can't help but be a little concerned about the nailed on ness of Fabio and Harte but they to represent great value if they start regularly. I think your midfield is a tad week and perhaps you should consider downgrading Azp to a cheapie and perhaps Guzan to Bunn to make some cash. Although admittedly that still may not be enough to upgrade Taarabt or Maloney to a better player.

          You've gained 2 points if Sturridge scores. Think about what the scores might be - L'pool to beat WBA 2-0 and SWN 1-0 or 1-1. Can't see either game as a goalfest. You know Suarez will be involved and they probably get 1 CS, beyond that it's guesswork. I'd save the hit.

          I'll get Giroud/Cisse...both long term.So,it's worth.

      Like the Suarez & Sturridge cover and getting Cisse/Giroud GW27. I take it you don't have money to go GJ instead of Enrique? I think he's considerably better as he's less injury prone and a beast going forward.

      He was chasing a ball, and in so far as Berbatov "sprints", he was sprinting - and he pulled out sharpish. He's done his hamstring. If you've ever done your hamstring you know, Jol/Fulham can talk 50/50 for the weekend all day long - he is done for 2 weeks minimum.

    Plan is to save next week, then sell Sturridge and Michu/Davies, then I will have 11 for GW 27, as well as 6 DGW players.
    The only worry is no Mata, but don't see a practical way.
    Also wondering if I should get De Guzman over Michu?? Would allow me to upgrade Sturridge to somebody that costs around 10.

      Not perfect. Mainly because no Mata. Mata is a must have nowadays.

      If I were you
      O'Brien -> someone cheaper. QPR defender probably. West Ham can't defend
      Puncheon -> someone cheaper. He's just gonna be a bench fodder. Guthrie
      Fellaini -> Mata

      I know it's not an option but I prefer Suarez and Sturridge, but gun to head I'd say Tevez/Suarez will get more points...

      I like the one with Cesar and Johnson much better, more important players than Reini and Onuoha for their respective teams...

        Yeah I prefer to not overload with Suarez + Sturridge. Too many Liverpool. I'd like some City coverage in there. 😀

        I know Suarez is by far a better choice than Sturridge as we can see, but the downside of it is Tevez who might get rotated.

      1) aguero studge because tevez could be dropped and hasn't been scoring to well and studge has been doing about as well as suarez fantasy wise

      2) cesear johnson over reina onu because cesear gets lots of save points and johnson has a much better attacking potential

        1) Ah cool.Aguero Studge is my first choice anyway, but seeing how Aguero is not firing and Suarez does,it's making me worry. I guess I'll have to monitor these couple of games.

        2) Agreed. I just thought people will say it's too heavy since I have 3 big hitters at the back
