There are no brown envelopes in sight; this “bung” is firmly placed in my nasal passages as I clamber from my man-flu grief pit to sit alongside Granville and take my Gameweek medicine. After seeing me off by 21 points, it’s only fair I gave my co-host his moment of glory, regardless of being short of match fitness.

Somehow we end up arguing about Robin van Persie once again, before taking a gander at the bandwagons rolling and preview the weekend’s action the only way we know how: by rambling endlessly and singling out some dubious player picks along the way.

      Didn't you say something about your team being messed up after Toure's injury? And now you're somewhat satisfied? What transfers did you initiate to make yourself happy with the team overall? 😀

      Good on ya mate, I'm absolutely sure its the right thing to wait a few wks.
      Anyway, NOBODY in here is happy with all 11 players any week, its always 6/7 that satisfy us for the nxt gameweek.
      After that you need be happy with your all the players over a 6+ wk period..... when you dont like THAT, then its WC time 🙂

      Yeah, Hull won't score as much I agree but at least you don't have to worry about rotation and benching the wrong player. Not much between Kim/Whittingham and Koren/BRady.

      I just know I will get the rotation wrong!

        no clue , picking c is my only weakness in fpl i'd say

        somehow my C always is flop so if you C any of those players you will do well

        i like to gamble at C picks and Silva is my gamble for this gw

        i quite liked his positioning in last game

    this is my 4th season of fpl and 2nd real one

    in first i was total amateur and didnt update team at weekly bases

    in 2nd i discoverd FFS when i was +1M in gw18 and managed to finissh 50k

    in 3rd (my first true real season) i finisshed in top 2k and i was dissipointed cause i had every chanse of finisshing in top 100 but my stupid RVP hate stoped me to do it cause i didnt want C him later on

    this is my 4th season and i am ready for top 1k i belive

    anyways the thing i learned in all this years is that points hit are not good at all and very rarely they pay off ( dgws not included) , aslo i never really care about my team valute and jumping at silly badwagons when players have good gw

    playing hard is the best way to do it , not rush your decissions and not WC cause other people doing it

      I brought in bale for a hit the week of his hattrick then I brought in walcott for a it week of his hattrick, so hits can pay off if they're thought out well

      though they can also fail. but that's the same with any transfer

    Current thinking is just go with it this week and make no transfers. I want Sturridge and was thinking Benteke out for him this week and then back in for Dzeko next week but that sounds like a plan waiting to fail.

    I need 0.5m to get Sturridge or Dzeko next week so it will either be

    A) Mirallas to HBA
    B) Toure to Collins
    C) Krul - 4.5m

    Now Toure to Collins will probably be fine this week but I was thinking maybe wait until after this GW to find out more about the injury.

      Mirallas vs Cardiff will be his chance to prove he's worth a place. If he flops against Cardiff, I can see lots of us getting rid.

      I'd keep Mirallas for a while longer, remember why you got him in the first place. Let others dump him, we'll have him when he hits that brace 🙂

      Stick with Mirallas for now. He has to come good soon. Option B makes sense. Jecko is under threat of constant rotation. Giroud/Lambert/Goldado/Studge for peace of mind.

        Yeah Dzeko is gone next week for Sturridge more than likely. Just seems pointless getting rid when it's Hull up next. Even if he doesn't start he could come on and nick one.

        I think I'll make 0 transfers this week and then think again next week. That way I know whether to take out Toure or Krul.

      I have no bench due to Toure and can't decide whether or not to switch to Brede or keep the FT. Leaning towards keeping so I have 2 for any injuries over the international break.

      I have it in Giroud as well, since he's on pens with Arteta out. Giroud's stats were also better than Walcott's for the first GW, and they're gonna be playing more similarly to GW1 than GW2 this weekend consider Podolsk isn't playing.

    I think we are getting carried away by the defenders scoring well over the first two gameweeks. History tells us it will not continue.

    Whatever the change to the bonus points, goals and assists will remain the main source of points. Goals are still heavily weighted so goalscorers will likely take away the baps from the defenders. 0-0's are still the best hope for defenders, and we've had an unusually high amount so far.

    Out of all the bonus last week, only three defenders got 3 baps outside of a 0-0 game, and two of those got attacking points:

    Enrique - assist
    Fonte - goal
    Walker - Nothing

      It seems very fair this season that defenders get bonus if they defend well and keep a clean sheet, but like you say, this won't be the case all of the time. As soon as the mids start scoring, then they are going to be cancelling defenders CS's and the balance will shift in favour of the attackers.

    I might be in a minority but I'm loving this bonus system, where they've gone all out and become transparent about the calculation. Not to mention the live feed.

    Gives us addicts a breath of fresh air over casuals. FFS will have absorbed the system by 10 GWs or so and we're going to have lots of useful analysis about it.

      Yep, agree entirely. The best thing is we can see how the points are earned. What will be interesting is to see how the bps are awarded once the mids start doing their thang.

        Certainly fascinating to see the impact of BPS on mids. I'm still not convinced mids are going to be good captaincy options as last season, but waiting to be proven wrong.

      My only issue is how easy it appears to be for more than 3 players to get bonus points in a single fixture. All the ties are a bit annoying in these low scoring fixtures.

          doesn't seem worth it imo, possible -4 for next week if you need to...reckon you'll need your WC way more at a point in the future (some nasty fixture congestion around xmas for example)

      Whittaker, Jarvis, Rosicky/Ramsey are all too risky picks - stick to safer options.

      Vidic is a bet of a meh option as well

        I'm kind of stuck at the back with only 3 playing backliners - one of which is Chester vs. MCY.

        I like my mid/fwd setup, so overall ok with it.
