Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gurn

It was a case of “one in, one out” on Saturday’s edition of Tightrope Watch, as the population swelled briefly to 28 before a Baggies midfield enforcer fell foul of the referee’s wrath on Tyneside. Sunday delivered a couple more five-card tricks, as the ban stick finally hit its target:

Saturday’s advent on the outskirts of the suspension jungle arrived midway through Stoke’s 4-0 drubbing at Everton, with a yellow card shown to Geoff Cameron after his foul on stand-in left back, Bryan Oviedo, just before the opening goal. As with the existing community of offenders, the US international will now have to endure the rest of the year looking over his shoulder in the knowledge that just one more malefaction could result in an enforced rest.

Meanwhile, graduating from the tightrope and flung headlong into that enforced rest this week are a trio of transgressors. First up, West Brom’s Congolese midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu earned his fifth card of the season for a foul on Yohan Cabaye late in the St James’ Park clash and will sit out the midweek hosting of Manchester City – perhaps he’ll use the time to consider what his future holds after his desire to move to “a more classy club” was made public.

Secondly, in the Sunday lunchtime fare, gurner extraordinaire Phil Jones clipped Mousa Dembélé to hand Spurs another 20-yard free-kick chance and earn himself a midweek rest for the visit of Everton – where Marouane Fellaini looks set to receive a frosty reception in his place. Finally, Hull’s Curtis Davies succumbed to a ban of his own after felling Jordan Henderson for the free-kick which led to Liverpool’s equalising goal at the KC. His absence at Arsenal coinciding perfectly with the return of James Chester – fresh from a price drop to 3.8m, and poised to offer extraordinary value once the Tigers’ fixtures ease.

Finally, Palace’s Yannick Bolasie serves the second of a three-match ban, whilst returning from suspension ready for the midweek fixtures will be German defender Sascha Riether, as his Fulham side, under the new management of René Meulensteen, seek to avoid a seventh straight loss in all competitions.

Giroud or Negredo? Taking into account I have no City cover, but I have Ramsey and Kols already.

Negredo might be risky but probably the right choice?

yeah, most people seem to think gazzinaga will satrt, and they dont like it

        but one guy said this:

Surely we can't get an emergency loan. Even with Davis injured we have Gazzaniga and Cropper. Anyway wasn't Davis was in training this week so surely recovered now

        and no-one quetoioned it

for those of us with the boruc to another cheapie problem,
out of the next 10 matches:
myhill: 5 home games (1 vs bottom half side), 4/10 games overall vs bottom half sides
marshall: 4 home games (3 vs bottom half side), 5/10 games overall vs bottom half sides
speroni: 6 home games (4 vs bottom half side), 5/10 games overall vs bottom sides

(note hull are not a bottom half team)

    form last 5:
    myhill: LWDDL
    marshall: DWLDL
    speroni: LLDWL

so speroni looks best for fixtures on paper, all have had mixed form of late.........

I'm thinking Speroni too but issue with that is they have Chelsea and City away in those 6 so could be some minus point scenarios potentially. If, like me, you have Davis as sub GK then this may be a problem! May spend a little more for Vorm. Can't decide!

Marshall has 47 points and Speroni 30. On the FPL player filters, Speroni's form is much better than either Myhill or Marshall. I wouldn't stress too much - who has the most homes games in the next 6 ? None of these guys are keeping a ton of CS. At that price you just plug him in and hope for the best. I have McGregor/Harper and combined they are 2 points behind Mignolet. Don't stress out over a budget GK.

“We do not know yet,” said Pochettino when asked about the extent of Boruc’s injury immediately after the game.

“He’s going to hospital to get some x-rays done and after that we will know exactly what he has done to his hand or wrist.”

Saints will also run an eye over Kelvin Davis to see whether he has recovered sufficiently.

If not then it will be over to Gazzaniga again, and possibly a chance on the bench for young American stopper Cody Cropper.

Guys I need some help .... Michael Turner (Norwich) is finally fleeing the nest.

Who should I get in for him?

I will have 4.7 to play with and 2FTs.

Double up on Liverpool defence with Flanagan (great fixtures)

Collins from West Ham but for one week only hardly worth it

Looking for a defender with good fixtures for GW 15 in particular as my defences fixtures are poor that week

Happy with rest of my team.

    Migs,

    Merte, Dawson, Clyne

    Ramsey, Ozil, Lallana, Ravel

    Suarez (c), Aguero, Rooney.

you think that now with qualifiers/international done, he'll be playing the full 90 from here on out? I think he'll be rotated this month and then be as nailed on as possible starting in January..am considering bringing Rooney in because these fixtures are so great and then trying to do Lukaku -> Aguero during the January WC
