The Big Numbers – Gameweek 15

An upturn in form by Palace’s former Villa man and a certain enigmatic Bulgarian over at Craven Cottage come under the spotlight this evening. Tottenham’s improvement in front of goal and United’s faltering home form are also picked apart in our latest review of the statistics from the weekend and beyond:

I really need to drop some Southampton players; as they're taking 3 spots.

Which of the 3 should I drop next week and for which player?
    Fonte, Lovren
    Lallana

    I currently also have:
    Distin, Jagielka, Baker
    Yaya, Ramsey, Bacuna, Meyler

    Cheers!

I would go Lovren/Fonte to uber cheap, Chester maybe.

Then use the money next week for your midfield.

Thanks; I currently have 0.3m in the bank. If I select Chester; what would be a good midfielder option (in two weeks; or by risking 0.4m) from these price points?

        A) Remove Fonte & Lallana = 8.3m midfielder.

        B) Remove Lovren & Lallana = 8.7m midfielder.

        C) Keep Lallana and drop Meyler = 5.9m - 6.3m midfielder.

Am planning to get Silva in but missed the whole game yesterday because... well, I fell asleep.

How did he look? I saw he scored one, was it good or more of a fluke? What position did he play?

Would really appreciate if someone could give me a reply.

For Goaldigger and Blue Lion: Silva was excellent, playing as an advanced midfielder, and really pushed to get that goal (short cross from milner across the front the of the danger zone by the keeper). That said, he was hauled off at something like 70 minutes, so I think Mancini is being careful with him.

Expect Nasri to start with Silva on the bench, but someone could lose their place over the coming weeks to accommodate Silva into the first team again.

Do people expect Silva to start on the weekend?

70 odd mins last night - TICK
Scored a brave goal and (according to TalkSport) looked very good - TICK

Pellegrini insisting twice (post match) that he isnt ready to play more than 70mins and sounding cautious about bringing him back to early after 5 weeks out - CROSS

I'd be happy with another 70mins on Sat i think...

Uruguay have got a devastating strikeforce but rubbish defence this is how we should line up against them 3-4-3

    Hart

    Cahill-dawson-jones

    Glen johnson -carrick-gerrard- cole

    Walcott-sturridge-rooney

Keep countering with pace gerrard and carrick sitting back

3 defenders taking care of cavani and suarez too

I had a look at their fixtures - ARS ful LIV CPL swa

Not too bad but I figured CPL was the perfect time for Richards to come in at RB so I thought ARS ful LIV swa in 5 GW's wasn't too promising. Hopefully Richards isn't out for too long 😉

With Silva returning, and City beating Bayern at home without key players (confidence boost) Aguero (c) looks more appealing. Arsenal are solid so I don't see them conceding more than 2. But again if that happens there's a big chance its an aguero brace 🙂 . Still I am leaning more towards Lukaku (c). 1 CS for fulham against a poor team is hardly a "new fulham". Damn its a difficult choice this week 🙂

How many weeks is that based on, or is it all season?

The other captaincy options (Aguero/Suarez) have apparently over-performed according to that table though!

All season, I think. Looks like it doesn't include the Arsenal game.

That's true, but they're still in the top 4 for chance creation, which is the issue. Everton aren't creating a lot of chances. Still, Fulham on the road ...

Remember Martinez a few weeks ago though? After the Palace game he said something along the lines of "The lack of goals is my fault" and that they'd work on it, after that I think they got 7 goals in their next 2 home games!

I didn't hear him say that. If I had, I might not have shipped Lukaku out after Palace (and then immediately back again after his brace V Liverpool 👿 )

lol. I ditched him as well, luckily I had Rooney for his two double figure hauls.

The Palace game convinced me to ditch - but as I set up my team for that week post update before the games were played, Lukaku vs Liverpool was my captain. So I went from captaining, to selling, to buying back within a few days 😆

I took a punt on Bony, who blanked and then got himself injured midweek. D'oh! At least it made getting him back in an easy decision 😀

Looking at the members area, if you go by the last 4 weeks, they're third for chances created. And that's against Arsenal, United and Liverpool.

        Feeling better now 😀

I went on a family holiday to Tunisia when I was a nipper. We had a trip to the Sahara desert booked (one night in a bedouin tent with cheesy entertainment) but it was cancelled because it snowed for the first time in 50 years.

With so many going for a "differential" away from Suarez (C) he could be the man to captain to boost your ranking 🙂

I remember captaining RVP when others tried to be cheeky would often pay off, and Suarez is in much better form than RVP has probably ever been in!

Spurs are nothing to shout at when it comes to defence. They got smashed by westham 3 - 0. Suarez's form is undeniable.

Going with the safe pick. Captaincy choice has bitten me enough.

He is also much better than RVP has ever been.

Nevertheless, there's also the obvious option of captaining the in form big hitter with home game against a bottom of the league club.

Foster should be back quite quick I'd imagine.

West Brom's defensive stats are right up there with the best. And yet have still conceded frequently. Surely that means the goalkeeper is likely to be the one to blame?
