Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Seventh Round Draw

We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

Hi Folks, what's your thoughts on Kyle Walker? Worth keeping for he's attacking potential?

Having been burned by him over the last few weeks, I'm surprised he's crept up to 6th highest scoring defender. All down to attacking points and bonus; 7 CS in the first 10, turned to not a single CS in 8 games before yesterday.

I'm ready to sell him to fund an upgrade of Oscar > Hazard (Walker > Ward). Good to go?

No good..had him for weeks for his share of kicks and corners, no added value in him now apart from as a raiding full back, but you can find those for a mill cheaper.

Cheers Wakey - sounds like the general apathy I've been feeling towards him! How's Walker + Oscar > Ward + Hazard (-4) sound to you? May be my only chance to get Haz before he rises too high and ruins my WC plans, so there's a double benefit alongside the better chance of a Palace CS.

Hell yes..don't lose out on Hazard. He'll be streets ahead when Ramsey and Yaya are a distant memory. Ward to rotate with another cheapie..Cardiff is the best one for the forceeable for fixtures or Chester at Hull for the better team.

    quick repost

    Mannone - Lewis
    Coleman - Mertesacker - Burner - Ward - Chester
    Hazard - Silva - Walcott - Sterling - Ravel
    Suarez - Rooney - Negredo

    0 FT, 2.5m

Ravel is driving me crazy..think he's played his last game for WHU and isn't actually injured..

Ravel > Ki or Ravel > Redmond for a hit to be rid? won't be playing my JWC until late..like the former because of pens though both have good fixtures..

    thanks again gents

read somewhere that West Ham have to pay Man U 20k everytime Ravmo the gangster plays.

but to answer you Q, no hits until after wc is played unless u dont have a starting 11 or if price rises/falls will stop your moves in near future

Cant see myself making too many changes with jan WC, maybe defence/goalkeepers.

Hoping for some snow to mix things up instead, and rolling 2 ft's each week in the vein hope.

      Mannone, Marshall

      Coleman, Kos, Nasty/Molsson, Ward, Chester

      Hazard, Theo, Lallana, Mutch, Ki

      SAR

If Kun is out, Lallana and Aguero become Silva and Lukaku

Of course we don't who might arrive in Jan.

I reckon the template for those with a decent team value will be:

        Mannone, Marshall
        Coleman, Kos, Ward, Chester, Burner
Silva, Haz, Walcott, 2 cheap rotating mids
        Suarez, Rooney, Aguero

With a more expensive keeper/4th midfielder for those with a higher selling value

He also only got rid of Kun last GW (for Rooney as well )

No urgent changes, but in case of rest (Rooney, Hazard, Suarez) I could do with using FT for a tweak so....

    a) Fer > Lallana - might get an extra 0.2 before WC
    b) Fer > Mutch - saves cash and differential
    c) Turner (awful fixtures) > Kos (great fixtures but can't stretch to Mertesacker)

I have Cabaye, Walcott, Hazard & Silva

    Current side is
    Krul
    Terry, Coleman, Sagna (Flanagan, Baker)
    Hazard, Walcott, Fer, Bannan (Ravel)
    Rooney, Suarez (c), Lukaku

    This week should I:
    A) Ravel to Sterling (HUL H), bench Bannan (NOR H) play Terry (SOT A)
    B) Rooney to Negredo and play Bannan
    C) Terry out to maybe Gabbidon or Skrtel (I have Sagna)
    D) Flanagan out to Gabbidon and bench Terry?

    defence in shambles, right?

    Davies, gazza

Bardsley, gabbidon, Chester, Williamson, Terry>Mert(did it for this week)

    Rest is:
    Cabaye, Toure, hazard, wally, fer

    Rooney, Suarez, lukaku

Looking at my team, do you think its important for me to use my wildcard asap, to sort my defence? I have risen a lot in recent weeks, I guess its important to keep up.
