Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Seventh Round Draw

We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

    De Gea
    Coleman-Terry-Gabbidon
    Walcott-Hazzy-Nasri-Cabaye
    Lukaku-Rooney-Suarez

    Bench:
    Turner-Prowse-Chester

So basically I'm very happy with my team. However, I want Arsenal cover at the back.

I'm planning to do Nasri->Silva next week, but I need some cash to do it. Should I hold on to the FT and do double next week in case of injuries, or should I do Terry->Kosc right away? Any other thoughts on my team? Thanks 🙂

Good one week punt for silva out of these ? (max 9.5) + any other recomendation
(have walcott hazard januzaj as other mids)

    A) Cazorla - With ozil ramsey out may play in the hole boosting attacking potential
    B) Nasri- same with the above + city cover
    C) Mata/oscar- little bit punty but may pay off handsomely if mourinho decides to rotate

Any chance of Mert being rested vs Cardiff?

Looking for a Jags replacement and narrowed it down to Mert/Kos. Mert tends to get more baps so slightly inclined towards him.

Does that mean Young starting at LW? And not Januzaj?

See I look at it this way...

Hull beat liverpool 3-1, Hull are on form, Hull have a great defence and are set up really nicely, just won 6-0 and confidence is high! Suarez has drawn 2 blanks in a row, so slightly (ever so slightly) out of form. (Cant believe I just said that)

Cardiff lost 0-3 to Arsenal, Cardiff are out of form, haven't been looking good recently, have no manager at the moment, no leader at the club, lots of distraction behind the scenes, therefore possibly a low morale around the club??

    Therefore..

Wally (C) and Suarez (VC) ????

Suarez wasn't getting much service, pool are expected to dominate against Hull and if Gerrard plays, could mean better service for Suarez.

Arsenal struggled to break down Newcastle and Cardiff are just gonna sit back like Palace did against Man City, will either be a big score or a low score
