The last few Gameweeks have seen a number of midfielders stepping up in performance and offering us alternatives to the template picks. As Fantasy managers reassess their options and roll out the winter wildcards, we thought we’d turn to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in the members section in order to assess their current form:

We’ve hand-picked a number of midfielders across the price brackets for this article. Those whose displays have hogged the headlines in recent matches are joined by the popular Fantasy options as we compare their KPI statistics from the last six Gameweeks to the first 16 league matches of the season. For those members unfamiliar with the KPI stats, as previously explained, they focus on the frequency of key stats or events in order to track player form.

    so was planning on using my last pre-wc FT to sell Negredo for a 1 GW punt

    But Ozil's drop tonight will knock 0.1 off my sale value towards my wc team, but I'd have to take a hit to sell Negredo then so

    a) Absorb the drop

    Hey folks, I'm using my WC this gamewekk, so what whould you recommend?

    My actual team is:

    Mannone
    Mertesacker - Coleman - Terry
    Lallana - Özil - Yaya Touré - Hazard
    Adebayor - Suárez - Lukaku
    Subs: Harper, Figueroa, El Ahmadi, Turner

    I'm thinking of Ade and Lukaku to Agüero and Rodriguez, Lallana to Wilsher and El Ahmadi to Oviedo, Figueroa and Turner to Whittaker and McNaughton.

    Any thoughts?

    An idea:

    We should make the FFS comments into one large live stream in an app, like Twitter for example, refreshable by sliding and newest at the top. Hmmmmm.

          Hi Mark,

          I don't want to be one to just cast stones and not have any constructive ideas! It is a difficult task you're facing here to be sure and, yes, a forum format would have been one suggestion for non-Matchday comments because it's simply easier to navigate and users are familiar with it.

          After reading your post below about the Matchday Comment System in the works, I think it will be terrific and solve most all of the problems on days with games. But, it's the time between the games that gets a lot of commentary action too -- and since the lead topic of the article often doesn't reflect the comments below it, PERHAPS there should be an emphasis on removing a lot of 'filler' (increase comment moderation or a new emphasis site-wide for everyone to stay on topic) or you need somehow give the freedom for the user to explore the posts they want to read, which is why forums DO work well.

            Yep, we're definitely going to look at things again now we have HC stable. It was just difficult to add features when the servers were an issue.

        Here's more on the matchday comment system currently being built....

        On matchdays we will have a live comments facility that updates without a refresh - auto scrolls etc. It's split over two panes with live streaming comments on one side, traditional comments on the other. Mods and Matchday correspondents can post in live comments and then move their comments over to the right pane - the idea being that the right pane highlights key events or info from the day.

        The right pane also captures those live comments chosen by mods and matchday correspondents - these can be anything from stats and info to just banter and reaction to the day' s match events. So, while live comments move fast and will be disposable, those selected for the right "event" pane, will remain in place for all to see as a summary of the day's events and reaction. Eventually, we'll also inject twitter feeds into the right pane so that it captures key tweets from clubs and journalists - we select which feeds and tweets we allow to appear.

        Once matches are over, an article is published as normal with the right pane comments made available and discussion begins normally once again.

        We plan to use live comments for other stuff too - including live Q&A sessions and Transfer Deadline Day discussion.

          By the way, it's taken us a while to test the tech behind this. It's a client side live comments system so it does not add load to our servers.

          It's taken far longer than I'd hoped but that's mainly because we have limited "Ed time" and there have been quite a few distractions along the way.

          Right now, for example, Ed has just finished the Cup Management system that allows us to run multiple cups that overlap in Gameweeks. This is great because, if we want, we can now run tournaments every few Gameweeks rather than just two Cups a season. The whole entry, draw system and results gathering is automated and tournaments can be set up in minutes.

              Yes, that's exactly how we're building matchday comments.

              I don't believe it's a suitable system for everyday comments. Having said that, once we have the tech up and running, we can and will explore a hybrid which could do that.

              The key is, HomeCrowd is our code and we can build features and functions into it how we want - our only limitation is ideas and, more crucially, time 😉

            One thing we may do for matchdays is effectively make limited "tickets" available. So it's first come first serve for matchday comments and one in and one out. Much depends on how fast the comments move.

        This is another good idea, similar to how TotalFPL does it, and there's a lot of people on there at all times of the night sharing their thoughts (mostly it's good stuff and I know many people here also go there). Yes, you can "lose" a ton of comments there too due to having to scroll up all the time (but their comment cache seems small too, you could make it larger!)

        But how about this? Maybe there's two types of 'rooms' on non matchdays. The first 'room' is strictly for more serious fantasy EPL discussion, far less joking and off-topic business (this would likey be self-policing). The second 'room' can be for casuals, where most anything goes comment-wise.

      I think he has handled the situation incredibly well and with maturity that is rarely seen in football professionals these days. Many other top players in his position could easily have poisoned the entire dressing room and created a lot of trouble, he has chosen not to behave like a spoilt brat and I think that ManU are going to get a lot of value from him.

          I don't believe in coverage. I think Oscar will score more than Mata, so I'd get Oscar. If you think Mata will do well, get him.
          Just keep in mind Mata hasn't played much this season, and when he has he hasn't played well.

    Hi folks,

    best gk combo till end of season? Been looking at fixtures and rotations and the following stand out:
    - Cardiff + villa/swans/sland........can get a villa def at a much cheaper price
    - sland + newcastle
    - saints + newcastle

    Looking at teams with cheapish gk's:
    - Hull...have 4 tough home games
    - Palace...4 tough home games
    - west hame...good home games but adrian not nailed on
    - saints...not sure what to make of them...boruc fit?

    Thoughts? or any other combos i might have missed out upto 10m?

        Is Bruce nailed on? Bardsley is a good bet but he will eat in to my funds for a Wilshere to Ramsey transfer (whenever that happens)
