It’s the ScoutCast vs Adversity. Granville drags himself out of his sick bed and we scramble into a makeshift studio, determined to return to the airwaves after our absence last week.

Apologies in advance for the echo, the faint background hiss and Granville’s Bonnie Tyler-like tones. If you can see your way past that little lot then you might just find some worth in this week’s episode as we grill the Gameweek 29 blank, sauté the Gameweek 31 doubles, boil down the Suarez vs Sturridge debate and lament our joint decision to choose Edin Dzeko from the lavish striker buffet, ignoring the sumptuous Sturridge in the process.

In between that particular call to Captain Hindsight, we rinse through the regulars, although Granville’s poorly state has us clean forget to credit the Scout League leaders or offer our thoughts on our new Fantasy Football squeeze – Ultimate Fantasy Premier League. Please accept this note from our respective Mum’s and the promise that we’ll return to full fitness next week.

    So we seem to have ended up in a gameweek where the best options include Charlie Adam, Joseph Yobo, Robert Snodgrass, Kevin Nolan, Wilfried Bony, Christian Eriksen, Emmanuel Adebayor and I'm sure someone mentioned Ashkan Dejagah earlier.

    Some good looking ties in the next round of the Europa League (Spurs-Benfica, Juve-Fiorentina, Porto-Napoli...)

    I know it gets a lot of abuse as a competition and maybe it's not in its optimal format but I must be one of the few who actually quite likes it. I can see how it can be a hindrance if you're fighting to get in to the CL, but for most clubs it can be a real opportunity.

    I enjoyed watching Newcastle back in Europe last season and whilst it clearly affected our league form, I'd much rather finish 15th and have a good run in Europe than finish 8th/9th like we will this season and have nothing really to play for.

    For clubs like Newcastle last season and Swansea this, who lets face it aren't likely to compete for the top 4 or be relegated, the opportunity to play in Europe can be a great reward for a good season the previous year and something different for fans to experience.

      I enjoy Europa until the Chumpion's League failures get a wildcard in. There should be no late entries for a Europe wide cup imo.

        I see what you mean but maybe the competition would lack a bit of quality without those teams.

        Gives teams that are unlikely to get out of their CL groups something to play for too if there's a good reward for finishing 3rd over 4th.

        Another good thing about the competition, there's some decent players and teams around in lesser league that otherwise wouldn't get any opportunity to prove themselves at a higher level.

        They had a great tie against Lazio by the looks of things and now get to play Valencia.

      Enjoyed the football and education. Swansea done themselves proud tonight and I feel sure If that lucky goal did not go in they would of held on.

      I got pounced on for saying something like that earlier on twitter.

      I don't think it would be a terrible thing for United to play in it next season and give the youngsters some experience. It didn't harm our youngsters in the early 90's when the 3 foreigner rule forced our hand. There is a CL spot up for grabs for the winners too.

        Once you open the bookmark once while on your team page you need to do it a second time for it to load up.
