The ScoutCast – Episode 126 – Nostalgia

Bonus points delivered by the man in the stand. Golden Wonder crisps. Ian Woan. The 1982 World Cup. There’s more than a hint of nostalgia about this week’s episode Granville and I park the Zimmer frames to resume ScoutCast service.

My co-host is almost back to full-fitness, exercising his rehabilitated vocal chords and wrapping his recovered tonsils around more double Gameweek discussion, along with a further round of community posers. Aguero’s double Gameweek potential, Granville’s fading faith in Moyes and our preferred flavour of crisps-based snack are amongst the hard-hitting topics on the agenda, following on from the usual bout of regulars.

Roll back the years via this link, or look back in anger via the player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hell of a gamble Tribecca. You basically need a CS to make it worthwhile. Then no DGW in two weeks time.
It could work, I've written off this week as every transfer I've touched turns to injured, suspended or doubtful.
If you go for it, it looks pretty much a coin toss tbh. Good luck.

This is certainly the time of year to start having a catch up punt and 100 points needs closing soon. Very little downside to it with a 5-6 point upside if BPs are in there.

    Good Morning!

Here's one bad case for jury...

    a)
    gw29 Evra (wba)
    gw30 Cahill (asv)
gw31 Evra (whm, MCY), Bardsley (nor, liv), Hazard (ARS)
    gw32 Evra (ASV), Cahill (cpl)

    b)
    gw29 -
    gw30 Baines (CAR)
gw31 Baines (SWA, new), Koshielny (che, SWA) + Hazard (ARS) or Bardsley (nor, liv)
    gw32 Baines (ful), Bardsley (WHM)

    For me it's 2-2, a) wins gw29 and 32, b) wins gw30 and 31 🙁

Very nice Sinik, I think it will be very similar to many, but decent nonetheless. I shall probably avoid West Ham as I don't fancy their run in fixtures, other than that much the same.

This "Chambers may get dropped" talk, what's it based on? Was he at fault for the goals conceded by Saints in the recent matches?

Needed a value replacement for Koscielny so it's between him or Declan John for me. Is Chambers a risky pick now?

A Saints defender is miles better than a Cardiff defender when their Prices are same IMO. That's why I'm so tempted. I've no Saints defensive cover. What do you suggest me in this case?

Doubt he'll get benched after conceding 3 goals to Liverpool. To be fair, they are the best attacking team in the league. Can't see 1 player being blamed and in turn dropped. Chambers seems to be favoured over Clyne when fully fit.

I did the exact transfer you're contemplating... Koscielny > Chambers. At 3.9 even if Clyne plays 1 of 4 games, it's a very small price to pay and you're not tying up a substantial amount of funds like some (eg Kolarov).

I wouldnt go anywhere near the Cardiff defence at the moment. There's always a possibility for Clyne to play an odd game but I think Chambers is still first pick for the right back position.

Fiddling around with possible GW31 teams and reckon I might not bother with any Hammers. Horrendous fixtures from Gw 33-38

Indeed. They look pretty safe too, so the hunger for points may not be as sharp.

Ya was thinking that too. The Swanseas and Newcastles are probably best avoided this time of year. Maybe even Southampton too but they have some nice games for the run-in

Gonna go with Johnson over Nolan I think and Mannone over Adrian. Helps that Sunderland have 3 doubles. Might even punt on Colback as my cheapo bench warming 5th mid.

thank you Flynn, hadn't notice West Ham's late fixtures..dreadful..looking at this for my DGW team now..

    Mannone - Davis
    Ward - Chester - Baines - Ivan - Chambers
    Sterling - Mata - Haz - Yaya - Noone
    SAS

or Azpi, AJ and Gerrard instead of Ivan, Sterling and Mata

until the next time I tinker that is..

Nice, any chance of squeezing a second keeper in? Not the be-all-and-end-all if not.

with the Gerrard option I could get in someone like Speroni..but with no WC I'm not sure I want to spend a transfer to have a second keep which is a luxury..

now let's say Kun or Studge get injured again or I decide I want to do Studge > Ade in a month (after the Liverpool game) I might do it then but yeah..

and I realized I miscounted and I can actually afford Ivan with AJ and Gerrard so it's basically Sterling + Mata vs AJ + Gerrard and I think the latter wins based on Sterling not necessarily being nailed once Lucas returns, Mata playing under a manager not utilizing him properly, AJ having 3 DGWs and Gerrard being Gerrard

Surely we're expecting goal(s) from both Cardiff & Fulham tomorrow! Both will be desperate to get 3 points! No clear cut favourites so must be an open contest right?

For DGW 31 which one of these...

    A. Nolan
    B. Lallana (have him, so would save 4p.)
    C. Sterling
    D. Gerrard

Other mids will be Johnson, Yaya, Hazard and strikers; SAS
    Thanks! Any views appreciated!

Assuming all the GW31 DGWs go ahead as planned, would you say it's best to WC in GW30 or GW31 in preparation?

    GW30 positives

    1) EVE, SUN and MCY all have decent fixtures in GW30, and I'd be wanting a fair few from those teams.

    2) Enables an extra free transfer to bring in future DGWers post GW31

    3) Likely to get certain DGWers cheaper

    GW31 positives

    1) Enables last minute decision on all GW31 DGWers, i.e. removes risk of injuries, suspensions etc

    2) LIV have a tough GW30 fixture, so no need to load up until their favourable GW31 DGW

    3) SOT has a great GW30 fixture, so would enable keeping the likes of Boruc, Lallana, Lambert, JRod etc before ditching in a GW31 WC

I would just do it before GW31, although this is probably the more conservative approach. I would just be too afraid of the likes of Aguero getting injured in GW30.

Another thing is if you're doing it gw30 that you'll miss one set of price changes as you can't do it until Sunday as you won't know about the games going ahead except arsenal + Everton. The other fa Cup games are all Sunday.

I still haven't decided actually, this is an interesting one so be nice to hear what others think too

Save it until 31. the 3 positives you've listed are very good reasons why

Yeah, but I also think the 3 reasons for a GW30 WC are good reasons to WC in GW30 also!

Tricky one, but I think I'm currently swaying towards a GW31 WC

i m wc-ing on gw30...and what i do is i have chamber as my 4th defender and oso keeping lallana and do lallana->gerrard on gw31..granted i lose an extra transfer but this will allow me having soton cover.

i have baines mannone kun yaya and getting AJ post gw31 which will alr give me future 5dgwer. this shld help me transit to the next dgw. i will not wc on gw32 because the future dgwer are not really so attractive to load up with. those players u want in gw31 are likely to be the players that u will want to keep until the end of the season
