Spot the Differential – Gameweek 35

With a few hours left before the deadlines is upon us, we scour the market in our search for some overlooked alternatives. This time around we offer a couple of frontmen with enticing home games on their agendas, whilst Liverpool’s young Brazilian is finally delivering the Fantasy returns his displays have more than merited.

Harry Kane

Handed his first league start by Tim Sherwood earlier in the month, the youngster has wasted no time in announcing himself to Premier League backlines. Partnering Emmanuel Adebayor in a 4-4-2 formation, with Christian Eriksen wreaking havoc on the left, Kane has netted in each of his subsequent two appearances, with strikes against Sunderland and West Brom highlighting his predatory instincts in and around the box.

As reports grow of a likely end-of-season departure for Sherwood, the Spurs boss is clearly determined not to bow to pressure from above and is likely to retain Kane in the starting XI for the run-in. With a home game against Fulham up next, supplemented by games against Stoke, West Ham and Villa to see out the season, Kane – priced at a mere 4.4 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and 5.9 in the Sky Sports game – could be an ideal acquisition for those looking to free up cash to draft in the likes of Sergio Aguero up top or load up on premium midfielders for the final four Gameweeks.

Loic Remy

Back in full training ahead of Newcastle’s home game against Swansea, the Frenchman looks likely to return to the starting line-up as Alan Pardew attempts to address a woeful run of form. The Magpies have now failed to score in each of their last four matches and, incredibly, have netted once in the last nine games Remy has failed to feature in.

With 13 strikes and a pair of assists in just 23 appearances for the Tyneside team, Remy’s loan arrival at St James’ Park has been one of the few positives in a season that has gradually fallen apart as the months have progressed. Remy also has a home game against struggling Cardiff on his agenda over the next three Gameweeks – offering him the perfect chance to place himself in the shop window ahead of next season.

Available for 7.9 in FPL, 7.8 in the Sky Sports game and 3.0 in the Sun Dream Team, his spell on the sidelines leaves Remy in just 4% of FPL sides heading into tomorrow’s deadline.

Philippe Coutinho

Much was expected of the Liverpool midfielder as the season got underway last August. Suffice to say, it’s mainly been a frustrating campaign for Coutinho – he’s struggled to turn some very impressive underlying statistics into Fantasy points and has been overshadowed by the displays of Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling in the Reds’ midfield.

Over the last few matches, however, the young Brazilian has stepped up in performance and produced some crucial displays for the league leaders. With goals in two of his last three matches supplemented by four bonus points, Coutinho has arrived back on our Fantasy radars ahead of three favourable fixtures in the final four Gameweeks for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Up next is a trip to Norwich, whilst a visit to Crystal Palace and home clash with Newcastle all seem promising for the free-scoring Merseysiders as they look to fire their way to the title. Available for 8.5 in FPL, 7.3 in the Sky Sports game and 3.0 in the Sun Dream Team, Coutinho’s current form suggest he looks a viable option for those looking to freshen up the injury-hit midfield area.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

no problem. On the whole I agree ,go with the better player. incidentally I'm captaining Suarez any way but only because im only 11 and 4 points behind the leader in both my mini leagues.
On the other hand I would consider Kun if I was 50 behind ( nothing to lose) as most do Suarez(c).
Your point about Suarez this week is sound, without Sturridge a better option.

just read a reply you made to someone else saying you think Man U have a better chance of a CS than Everton.
So with that in mind my dilemma is play Baines and Ivanovic with 1 of these 3- Coleman,Evra or Ward?
I was settled on Coleman but now im thinking Evra.

it's so hit or miss that it's hard to judge and I'm thankful I don't have Evra for that reason (and that I did Coleman > Cahill for a hit as I'm confident of a Chelsea CS)

Everton have the capacity for a CS but have shown recently that they lack the persistent concentration necessary to always get one even if their form allows them to escape in the end more often than not lately. Palace played well yes, but they also scored some relatively soft goals.

On the other hand, United have red hot away form, but under Moyes we seem to be hot one minute and cold the next so I could just as easily see us keep a CS as I could see us ship 3 goals to Everton.

It's really a tough one..if Ward was fit I would have gone with him and not brought in Cahill but as a doubt I thought it was a good opportunity to drop Coleman (as I was planning on it anyways).

Everton NEEDS to win to continue to fight for 4th. United will also obviously be going for it as well but since it's more of a longshot I think we'll find Everton playing more open than we will United. Not to mention that Moyes is returning to Goodison for the first time and he'd probably take a draw out of the affair even if he shouldn't so he may close up shop and hit on the counter like against Bayern.

thanks for the insight. Based on that I think I will stick with Coleman.
Ive already made my transfers so don't have that luxury.
                      got to go.

      Suarez for two reasons:

      1) he's playing up top instead of wide with Sturridge out. he averaged 11.4 ppg during the 8 matches Sturridge was out mid-season (even though I dislike this metric)
      2) Aguero has no Yaya and potentially no SIlva behind him and we have yet to see what that means for him in terms of production. He didn't look AMAZING versus Sunderland and they're a worse team, though one might argue a bogey team.

        You miss the main issue.

City are at home to a leaky West Brom defence. Liverpool are away at a defensively well organised Norwich.

These are more relevant than your 11.4 stat...

Sunderland aren't leaky? And City struggled with no Yaya, Navas, Silva.

Norwich form all under Hughton, irrelevant now.

Suarez is a form over fixture player.

not that Aguero isn't also a form over fixture, but he isn't on form and he can't do it all himself like Suarez can

Please help, my highest rank this year was 730(GW28) but after red arrows in 5 of the last 6 GW's I'm down to 2,960... My team looks fairly shit at the moment, so just looking for some advice.

    Mignolet

    Ward Zabaleta Baines Terry MOllson

    Yaya Silva Johnson Eriksen Oviedo

    Lukaku Suarez Sturridge

I got rid simply because there's 4 weeks left, so there's no point holding hope he returns..the dgw is overrated and you won't be transferring in any hull/sunderland (at least I won't) so I could easily get him back for someone else if I really wanted

    36 points ahead in ML.
Rival has YYT, Silva & Sturridge and has so far made his FT, but he might make a sneaky one or two before deadline because his usual bench is Collins, Chambers, Delph.

Mutch is my Silva cover, do I gamble Silva to Nasri / Mata to try and increase my lead? Already done YYT to Gerrard for FT. Worried of Silva's minutes in the DGW.
