Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 35

With only tonight’s Etihad encounter between City and West Brom left in the Gameweek, we scour the nine matches played out over Saturday and Sunday and analyse the post-match reports for news of any fresh injury concerns:

Arsenal
Thomas Vermaelen’s run of four successive starts came to an end yesterday afternoon after he missed the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Hull with a hamstring injury.

Cardiff
Craig Bellamy missed the home draw against Stoke due to a virus, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed post-match, with the veteran expected back in training on Monday.

Chelsea
Petr Cech missed Saturday evening’s home draw with Sunderland due to a minor illness, according to the Blues’ official twitter stream. Samuel Eto’o is expected to miss tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid due to a knee problem.

Everton
Sylvain Distin was forced off with a hamstring problem during yesterday’s win over United. After the match, Roberto Martinez issued an update on the Frenchman’s fitness:

“”Sylvain will have a scan tomorrow. He felt his hamstring. I just hope we pulled him out of the game just in time. If it’s damaged, it will be difficult for him to play again this season. But, if not, maybe within a week or 10 days he will be fine.”

Fulham
Kieran Richardson, Mamadou Diarra and Sascha Riether all missed the Cottagers’ trip to Spurs due to muscle, knee and illness problems respectively. Felix Magath also confirmed Scott Parker was forced off before the hour mark after picking up a muscle problem but remains confident all four will be available for next weekend:

“We had problems before the game – injured or ill players – and had to change the team. Riether is ill so he stayed at home, Richardson tried this morning but he has a muscle problem and Diarra has knee problems. Parker took a kick on the muscle but he is confident he can play next week – I think all the players will be fine for then.”

Johnny Heitinga was also withdrawn during the game with a knock, according to the Fulham post-match report.

Hull
Shane Long was withdrawn at the break in yesterday’s loss to Arsenal with a calf complaint. Sone Aluko missed out altogether with a minor hamstring problem.

Man United
Patrice Evra missed yesterday’s trip to Everton due to a knee problem, according to the local press. Nemanja Vidic was also omitted from the matchday squad with a headache.

Newcastle
Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong were both forced off in the first-half of the Magpies’ home loss to Swansea with knee and ankle problems respectively. Cisse left the stadium on crutches on Saturday night, whilst de Jong sported a foot brace as the injuries continue to hamper Alan Pardew’s plans – reports in the local press this afternoon indicate that Cisse is set to miss the remainder of the season, with scans revealing he has suffered a broken knee cap which will require surgery.

Stoke
Erik Pieters lasted less than half an hour of the Potters’ trip to Cardiff before being withdrawn due to illness, Mark Hughes has confirmed.

Sunderland
Two-goal hero Connor Wickham was replaced late on in the win over Chelsea after picking up a knock.

West Ham
Guy Demel missed the Hammers’ 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace due to illness, according to reports in the local press.

Follow this guy on twitter for ridiculously good horse racing tips.
He only tips the big races but has nailed the Irish National today,
he nailed Aintree National a few weeks back (had 1st and 3rd),
had 2nd and 4th in the Scottish national
and had numerous decent priced winners at Cheltenham.

For the remainder of the season, should i get Eriksen or Sterling?
Only have Suarez from either team, and also getting Sterling would enable me to get Rooney in easier for his double. Thoughts?

Thoughts on these transfers this week? Have only exact money to make it happen before Ramsey rises again.

    Baines + Puncheon > Jones + Ramsey

Fixtures for both Everton and Palace are relatively poor to end the season. Ramsey looking like a must have and United have 3 straight home games including a double.

    Pull the trigger?

I know it's very early, but I thought I'd compel a list of notable players from the two sides who have guaranteed a spot in the Premier League next season.

These stats are taken from the Championship fantasy football website, and in no way am I saying that all these players will be as good in the Premier League, as it is a big contrast between the two leagues, but we should keep a close eye on these players.

    Leicester -
    Nugent: ST - 19 Goals - 13 Assists.
    Vardy: ST - 16 Goals - 9 Assists.
    Drinkwater: MF - 7 Goals - 5 Assists.
    Dyer: MF - 6 Goals - 7 Assists.
    Knockaert: MF - 5 Goals - 7 Assists.
    De Laet: DF - 2 Goals - 5 Assists.
Schmeichel: GK - 15 Clean Sheets - 43 Goals Conceded.

    Burnley -
Heaton: GK - 17 Clean Sheets - 35 Goals Conceded.
    Vokes: ST - 20 Goals - 4 Assists.
    Ings: ST - 19 Goals - 5 Assists.
    Arfield: MF - 7 Goals - 4 Assists
    Jones: MF - 1 Goal - 6 Assists.

And the absolute sparkling gem amongst the two promoted sides is 23 year old Burnley right back Kieran Trippier.
This season on the Championship fantasy football website he has been awarded 1 goal and a massive 15 assists! The season before he got 12 assists! (Last years data was taken from Transfermarkt.com, so he may have me awarded more fantasy wise!)
He's definitely high up on my watch list, especially if he comes in cheap.

Trippier will be at least £4.5.

Most decent newly-promoted defenders were £4.5.

          Prepare for disappointment 😉

In all seriousness he could be great, it's a whole different game at PL level so I'd like to focus on defensive returns. They have a good record in the CL but how they shape up over Summer is nearly as important if not more.

Yeah but there's 5 defender slots. 4 can be for solid teams at the back, the Chelsea, West Ham and Palace players. And then a slot for a cheeky cheap punt!

I'm all about the cheapo defenders, if Burnley actually have some form and if he translates into decent attacking returns I'll certainly have him!

Work as a self employed sub contract buyer. Hire yourself out for a cut of any savings you make for a company over their initial costs before they hired you...90% to the company and 10% to you for the period of employment (maybe as low as 5%). It's a way to make serious money if you get it right...and a win/win for everybody.

Simple...British industry is crap at buying in products/raw materials..It's usually done by somebody who has no clue the cost of anything on the open market. Everybody from the NHS and other public institutions through to smallest businesses pay way over the odds for stuff..You simply bring their costs down for a cut. I did it for anything from white goods through to steel buying for a multitude of companies.

No..you don't sell anything..you buy on their behalf and bring the costs down to market values.

Yeah but it was unlike too seasoned campaigners like that. Utd players of old would be getting ready for the fight. Not moaning like old women.

Maybe they were trying to catch Rooney's eye?

    JKI & Doosra,

Think you might've missed my little apology last night....
When I implied Doosra was giving you duff tips I was only joking - hence the smilie....but was too late spotting your replies.

No offence intended. Re-read it and realised you could take it the wrong way.

He's career went to crap after he left Liverpool. Yeah, he won a few trophies, but he wasn't a major player in any of them, and he never got close winning The Balon 'd'or again or anything close like he did at Liverpool.

Woodgate was just a never-ending injury. Like Ledley King in that respect, but not as good.

I think it's gotta be just Gerrard out..my original plan was Noone + Lukaku > Ramsey + Pod because I didn't want to add Rooney in if Moyes was still manager but if Giggsy takes over as interim we may play some nice attacking football to finish out the season with a bit of fun and I could see Mata and Rooney running rampant..
