Captain Sensible – Gameweek 36

This week’s Captain Poll is a far more open affair, with players from four teams taking up the top five spots. Arsenal’s home clash with Newcastle brings in-form duo Aaron Ramsey and Lukas Podolski onto the radar, United’s first match since the dismissal of David Moyes boosts our faith in Wayne Rooney, whilst Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero are, as always, amongst the usual suspects despite tricky weekend encounters against the Chelsea and Palace defences:

We take the top five in this week’s Captain Poll as our starting point and construct a members table based around a number of their key statistics in order to flag up any other players offering a similar sort of threat.

  Nah. RVP will have to build up match fitness so Roon should still get more minutes and anyway Roon will just be shifted to being behind RVP if they both play where he can still get some points.

      i see your point but honestly i dont believe that mata does not fit in giggs' plans. i strongly believe that utd's problem this season is not mata. along with rooney they are the best players in the squad at the moment (rvp not fit)

        Aye. Mata is one of United's best players. Giggs will not bench a player United have paid so much money to acquire. At 25 years-old Mata is a part of United's future XI, so needs all the game-time he can get to integrate in the team.

        I don't doubt it buddy, but where he is played has proven to be VERY important FPL wise for points so if he's back on the wing (As I really doubt he'd play Roon out wide when RVP plays) then it's back to being a 2pointer.

Paul Scholes reckons Mata is the best player in the league. Can't see him being benched (of course I may be biased) he's just too good.

Also, yes his pace isn't suited to counter-attacking as such, but Scholes was hardly quick, Mata has a role to play in dictating the tempo of the game.

      Exactly what I'm doing. But what if RVP is back for the DGW? I would still be happy to have Roon as he should be moved to behind RVP but where does that leave Mata?
      
      Anyway, all speculation for now but it's a risk that's for sure. (Getting Mata in now). It may well pay of this week, but maybe just for this GW.

        FPL wise:
        
        Mata plays best in the hole.
        Rooney plays best as a striker but also does ok in the hole.
        
        With RVP up front it's difficult to utilise Mata to maximise his potential.
