Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 37

Ahead of this evening’s Old Trafford encounter between United and Hull, we take a look at those players who picked up problems over the last few days and are now injury concerns for their next fixture. We also take a quick check at the suspension ins and outs, with a trio of players set to return for their respective sides:

Injuries

Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey failed to make the Gunners’ home clash against West Brom yesterday afternoon due to a minor thigh injury.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was forced off midway through the first period of Villa’s win over Hull after picking up a knock in the build-up to his side’s opener in the 3-1 victory.

Cardiff
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was deprived of trio Gary Medel, Mats Daehli and Kevin Theophile-Catherine due to illness, according to reports in the local press.

Crystal Palace
Cameron Jerome missed the Eagles’ six-goal thriller with Liverpool last night due to illness.

Fulham
Hugo Rodallega missed the weekend hammering at Stoke due to illness, Felix Magath admitted post-match.

Hull
James Chester is ruled out of the Tigers’ trip to Old Trafford this evening after picking up a during Saturday’s defeat at Villa. Sone Aluko is also unavailable after sustaining an ankle injury during training on Friday, with Steve Bruce admitting he is set to ring the changes now that his side are safe from the drop.

Manchester City
In this afternoon’s lunchtime press conference, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Sergio Aguero has failed to recover from the injury that forced him out of Saturday evening’s win at Goodison, though hasn’t ruled the Argentine out of the Gameweek 38 home clash against West Ham. The City boss allayed any fears over Yaya Toure’s fitness, however, after the midfielder was withdrawn midway through the second-half of the 3-2 win:

“Sergio Aguero couldn’t recover 100% from his groin problem so he is not in this squad list. Maybe he has a chance to be fit for Sunday. We will see in the week. I was not 100% sure if he was fit for tomorrow – that’s why he is not in the squad…Yaya did not have any problems in the last game. I just made the change because he was just coming back from his injury and he was not able to play 90 minutes.”

Man United
Ryan Giggs has conceded Wayne Rooney is struggling to make United’s home encounter with Hull this evening and will continue to be monitored. Rafael may play a part in the Red Devils’ final two matches after a recent injury, though Jonny Evans is unlikely to play again this term.

Swansea
Reports in the local press indicate Chico Flores missed the home encounter with Southampton due to a minor toe problem.

West Brom
The Baggies forward Thievy was sidelined for yesterday’s match due to a groin problem. Billy Jones missed out as a precaution due to an ongoing hamstring issue.

Suspensions

Two players sit on the sidelines due to bans this week. Tottenham’s Younes Kaboul will miss next Sunday’s home encounter with Villa after being sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity during the weekend loss at West Ham. The centre-half will serve a one-match suspension, whilst Chelsea’s Ramires sits out the third of a four-match ban away to relegated Cardiff this weekend.

In terms of those returning from bans, Jordan Henderson, Juan Cala and Ryan Shawcross are all available for selection once again this weekend.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If you hang onto one, do you go Agüero or Rooney? Or is it worth the hit to shift out both for definite staters and just be done with the uncertainty?

Have Mata and Ramsey to think about as well...

Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, so:

    Mannone
    Baines, Alonso, Coleman
    Mata, Yaya Touré, Arnautovic, Gerrard
    Wickham, Podolski, Dzeko

Subs: Adrián; Eriksen, Ward, Curtis Davies ... - 4

I don't normally chase rabbits, but here goes. This season has been my best ever, but the polish is coming off.

(mata, aguero, rooney) IN for (gerrard, sturridge, lukaku)

    = (2pts, 5pts, Puncheon off bench 2pts, -12pt hit), IN FOR (10pts, 6pts, 6pts)
= 9pts earned, spent 12 pts to do it, and 22pts forsaken

= 25pts lost to conventional wisdom

I think I've learned much more this season, than I did last season. And you?

Yes, Mata plays again. My OR might have been 1,8xx rather than 4,2xx

So at the start of this gameweek I had Chester be a miserable disappointment AND get injured and Mata (c) fail against Sunderland with the prospect of Aguero going insane as a captain and selling Rooney looking like it would bite me in the ass with a return to action against Hull.

I must say overall things are looking a bit better now and might actually work out! C'mon Rooney, you know you want to rest and c'mon De Gea, Mata (c), Nasri, Yaya and Wickham!

    BBC:

"Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs is hopeful Wayne Rooney will be fit after missing Saturday's defeat through illness and a groin strain.
Robin van Persie could return to the starting line-up after coming on as a substitute against Sunderland.
Hull defender James Chester could miss the rest of the season after injuring his hamstring against Aston Villa.
Sone Aluko will miss out after he hurt his ankle in training on Friday and he is also a doubt for the FA Cup final."

Aleksandar Kolarov could face a year without Champions League football if Manchester City's European squad is cut by four players next season over their failure to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Joleon Lescott, Stefan Jovetic and Javi Garcia are almost certainties, but final slot would prove biggest headache - and it's likely to be Aleksandar Kolarov.

So assuming Kolarov stays, could make him an option at the start of next season?

    I think I might run a 3-5-2 for the last gameweek for a -4..

    Speroni (DDG)
Baines - Ivan - Cahill (Ward, Chester)
    Nasri - Ozil - Eriksen - Mata - Yaya
    Podolski - Suarez (Wickham)

could also do a 4-4-2 for free and not do Ramsey > Ozil

yeah I literally just changed my mind going to just keep Ramsey and do Aguero + Pod > Suarez + Sturridge for free and run the tried and true 3-4-3

    How's this for GW38?

    Aguero -> Sturridge leaving:

    Speroni
    Zabaleta - Dann - Azpilicueta
    Puncheon - Yaya - Ramsey - AJ
    Suarez - Rooney - Sturridge

    DDG - Evra - Livermore - Vlaar

Right to go Palace over Man Utd in defence?

I`d play Evra over Dann. Fulham loosing but scoring goals

Fulham have scored in all their recent home games. Southampton have totally lost their attacking mojo and Evra comes with a threat going forward.

Tough call but I'm on Evra at the moment.

That was with two rather generous own goals though.

I think both will probably concede - undeniable that Saints' scoring has been curtailed somewhat since Rodriguez' injury.

      I'd play Evra.

It's basically correct to say that most people can't even begin to make GW38 decisions until the Friday press conferences.

A Rooney cameo tonight would be nice (other than for those with scoring benches) if only because it signposts his fitness.

Then everyone is doing Rooney/Aguero to Sturridge/Dzeko or both on Friday.

there's no sense in Rooney playing if he's nursing a knock, none whatsoever, he would be stupid to play

Agree, still would be nice from a fantasy perspective though.

If it's the groin problem then he won't which it sounds like it is. If it's just recovery from the stomach bug then it's more likely - little threat of aggravation.

looks like it's Aguero + Podolski > Suarez + Sturridge for a -4 this week..might have a midfield headache if Ramsey is fit but I don't know if I would risk him over Eriksen or Mata, maybe Mata

Mutch or any midfielder under £10m (-4)
