World Cup Dugout Discussion – Matchday One

The wait is over. The World Cup kicks off with the host nation, Brazil, facing up to regular dark horses, Croatia.

The tournament favourites lineup as expected, with the likes of David Luiz, Oscar and Paulinho the familiar names alongside Neymar – the Barcelona starlet sports the armband for Fantasy managers far and wide this evening.

The Croatians have the talent to ensure that tonight’s opener will be a cracker, although the loss of striker Mario Mandžukić to suspension for their first group match is a major blow. Hull City’s Nikica Jelavic leads the line for European side, while Šime Vrsaljko is perhaps the surprise inclusion in their lineup as Danijel Pranjić drops to the bench to make way.

Brazil: Julio Cesar, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Paulinho, Gustavo, Hulk, Oscar, Neymar, Fred.

Croatia: Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Lovren, Vrsaljko, Modric, Rakitic, Perisic, Kovacic, Olic, Jelavic.

So of all the fantasy football games playing for the World Cup....

Fox still not bothered updating
Mirror has only just updated & mini Lges
TFF updated PDQ
DreamTeam - PDQ
Football Fanager - done within the hour - site hard work
Maccie D - done within 30 mins - no sign of ML updates

So it seems that not many of the Competitions can be that bothered to run a good comp 🙁

  Fantasy iTeam had all points updated within a minute. Yet people were all up in arms about being able to buy one bonus transfer, wouldn't have been hard to set up a mini-league where buying the bonus transfer isn't allowed 😆

so in the MCD game am i right in thinking that....

1) your leagues don't appear in the 'my leagues' section
2) there's no way of seeing the teams of other people in your leagues.
3) there's no way of seeing the points for players you don't have.
4) none of this is likely to change until at least the end of the first round, maybe not ever

People from Brazil are known to be superstitious, no wonder they wanted to play 12th june and not today. :p

Luiz 8 pts, brutal, not even a CS and almost scored a goal. Srna got me 4pts, maybe centerbacks is the best, or it's just too early to say.

Fantasy iTeam question...

I thought I'd registered for the FFS Mini-League however, after plenty of app crashes I'm not.

I know the code 4915 & can find the league but, cannot join.

Is it just too late now the WC has started or am I missing something really obvious?

      You can't see the mini-league unless you're in it, so you must be in it. When you click the mini league icon on the home page does it show the FFS mini league, or does it show big squares of colour with 'create' and 'join' ?

Will everyone join me on my boycott of McDonalds?

I don't really eat there anyway so bit of an empty gesture (bit like the classic protest marches football fans tend to do from the pub they were going to drink at anyway to the game they were going to go and watch anyway)

I'm not going back to McDonalds until the time I have spent on the game (probably about 5 hours which clearly is way too long) is paid back in forfeited meals. My time is worth $100 an hour for this exercise and I probably spend about $10 a year in McDonalds so I am not going back there until 2064
