World Cup Dugout Discussion – Matchday One

The wait is over. The World Cup kicks off with the host nation, Brazil, facing up to regular dark horses, Croatia.

The tournament favourites lineup as expected, with the likes of David Luiz, Oscar and Paulinho the familiar names alongside Neymar – the Barcelona starlet sports the armband for Fantasy managers far and wide this evening.

The Croatians have the talent to ensure that tonight’s opener will be a cracker, although the loss of striker Mario Mandžukić to suspension for their first group match is a major blow. Hull City’s Nikica Jelavic leads the line for European side, while Šime Vrsaljko is perhaps the surprise inclusion in their lineup as Danijel Pranjić drops to the bench to make way.

Brazil: Julio Cesar, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Paulinho, Gustavo, Hulk, Oscar, Neymar, Fred.

Croatia: Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Lovren, Vrsaljko, Modric, Rakitic, Perisic, Kovacic, Olic, Jelavic.

        It's not the same as in 2010, in 2010 it updated AFTER EVERY GAME, NOT AFTER EVERY ROUND 100% true. Also, it only says your points will be finalized and the league positions will update after each round, no-where does it say you will be able to view other players teams in your league, so we have to hope you will be able to. Every league that you are in should be under My Teams instead of having to manually search your leagues, hopefully after it updates on Tuesday we will see some things happen.(After the first round is done)

          I seem to recall I was unable to see my opponents teams and where they could possibly be moving their (c) next in 2010.

          But hey, I'm a 67 year old man that has dementia and is staring a a Luiz CS in fox.

    Just relax and enjoy the football, the correct points etc will be awarded eventually

    In the fox and mirror games there nothing to be do e till the next round anyway, in mcdonalds just check your next day players are in your lineup then get the hell out of there, no confirm button means it's a dangerous place to linger

          If you think this is bad it's nothing compared to the NRL fantasy this season. It was so bad they had to restart it in round four. Organisers had to take out injunctions against various people after countless threats of violence against themselves

          I made a couple of late changes , MArtinez a big doubt to start so bought in NAymar at the last minute. mEssi also came in.
          I stuck very much with a no European policy except for a couple of defenders and a French mid, whooping inmates from a hotter climate.
          Only two changes in the final 24 hours, hardly a crime

    I picked a very quick mcondalds team yesterday, 'purely for fun'.

    To illustrate how seriously I didn't take it, I picked some favourites: hazard, ronaldo, messi, luiz and *don't wince* baines & sturridge. I just couldn't go into a world cup fantasy without a couple of englishmen.

    Unfortunately I also picked neymar captain so now I am going to be forced to pay attention to the game!

    Oh and don't ask about the rest of the team haha. Awful.

    One question re mcondalds. Yesterday I changed formation from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3, and it randomly dropped a player to the bench, locking him there (fortunately it was my non starting croatian defender) Can I just ask if there is method regarding which player is dropped in this case? Is it random or is there an order?

      I played around with formations yesterdays, and it is my opinion that it is always the player on the far right that gets subbed off and a '+' sign is added to the spot where the new player is to be brought on...
