Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame Updated

The current international break has allowed us time behind the scenes to update the Live Hall of Fame standings, taking into consideration the performances so far in the 2014/15 season. The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone who takes part in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. Basically, this tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a “HoF rating” accordingly – it’s viewable to all via this link or the top menu “HoF” link.

If you’re wondering what the Hall of Fame is all about, you can read below for a quick guide. Alternatively, you can view this movie to listen to Mark and Rate My Team’s Chris Atkinson talk you through it.

Live Hall of Fame Top 10

Ville Ronka retains his spot at the top of the Hall of Fame despite a slow start to the new season. Having finished inside the top 5,000 in each of the last six years – three times inside the top 1,000 – he leapt to the top of the Career Hall of Fame rankings in our summer update but currently sits just outside the top 400,000 in the 2014/15 campaign with 157 points. After opting for a 3-5-2 formation in each of the last two Gameweeks, he’sdecided to activate his wildcard and restructure his 15-man squad ahead of Gameweek 4.

Site moderator Evs moves from third in the Career HoF up to second in the Live update. Having ended four of the last five seasons inside the top 10,000 – including a fifth place finish in 2012/13 – he’s off to a solid start and sits around the 75,000-mark with his wildcard still firmly intact.

Rasmus Sandman slips down to third in the Live update. Having ended the previous three campaigns inside the top 1,000, he sits on 170 points so far – enough for a 135,000 rank – after taking a points hit heading into Gameweek 3.

A non-mover in fourth position is Kenneth Tang. Having ended inside the top 1,000 in five of the last eight season, he carries some serious consistency into the new campaign and sits on 183 points so far, around the 27,000 mark. Intriguingly, he has decided to overlook Aaron Ramsey so far and, like Rasmus, has already taken a points hit.

Nick moves from sixth to fifth after starting the season with 189 points from the first three Gameweeks. Sitting around the 11,000 mark so far, he’s decided to activate his wildcard in order to freshen up his squad – after ending inside the top 2,000 in each of the last four seasons, he clearly knows what he’s doing.

Matthew Jones climbs from 18th in the Career HoF up to sixth in the Live update after kicking off the season with 187 points. He finished just outside the top 1,000 last year and also has a couple of top 500 places in the last four years – he’s opted for Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa as part of his starting XI.

In seventh spot is another climber. Derek Simpson moves up from 15th spot in Career after serving up 184 points in the first three rounds of fixtures – he’s already made a couple of transfers this week as he looks for a sixth finish inside the top 5,000 in eight seasons.

Sir Edo Nygren is also on the rise. Shifting from 12th to eighth position in the HoF, he’s made just one transfer so far – Bojan to Steven Naismith – and is the only one of our top 10 to opt for a more than two pricey defenders, with John Terry, Mathieu Debuchy and Dejan Lovren all taking their place in his 15-man squad. He currently sits on 178 points, just outside the top 50,000 mark.

Utkarsh Dalmia is off to a flier with 189 points on the board already. Intriguingly, he’s opted for a 3-5-2 formation and placed his faith firmly in United – Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie all started
for him against Burnley, though he’s since made another transfer, which may well see Diego Costa return to his squad immediately.

David Meechan slips from eighth to tenth after opening the season with 158 points in the first three Gameweeks. Four successive top 10,000 finishes indicate his calibre, and despite a relatively slow start, he’s already made six transfers – three this week alone – as he looks to scramble back up the rankings.

Elsewhere in the Live HoF update, the 2012/13 FPL winner Matt Martyniak sits in 30th position after kicking off the season with 165 points. Matt is another Fantasy manager to have activated his wildcard over the first international break, with many new arrivals looking tempting alternatives to the likes of Rooney up top. Our very own Jonty is tucked in just behind Matt in 32nd spot as he searches for a fourth successive finish in the top 5,000.

Defending champion Tom Fenley sits in 686th spot in the Live rankings after opening the season with 171 points, whilst another former champion, Jon Reeson, is placed in 2007th spot – he’s acrrued 168 points over the opening three Gameweeks of 2014/15.

Analysing the Top Ten

Further assessment of the top ten shows that Tim Krul and Ben Foster are the most popular stoppers, with both sitting in five teams, though only two Fantasy managers have the duo on board. Interestingly, only four of the top ten opted for rotating keepers – the rest picked a starter and a 4.0 option – while just two decided on a keeper with a price tag greater than 4.5.

In defence, Hull’s James Chester is the most popular pick and has earned the nod from six of the top ten. Alan Hutton and Andre Wisdom’s starting price of 4.0 persuaded five managers to snap them up, whilst John Terry and Mathieu Debuchy have been the mid-to-premium defenders of choice.

In midfield, Gylfi Sigurdsson is the one constant – the Swansea midfielder is one of only two players to be selected by all ten. Aaron Ramsey (nine), Cesc Fabregas (seven) and Juan Mata (six) were next in line, while Raheem Sterling and Eden Hazard, along with Burnley’s bench-warming budget option Dean Marney have all found a place in four of the 15-man squads.

Up top, Wayne Rooney mirrors Sigurdsson’s popularity and is the only frontman residing in all ten teams. Diego Costa currently resides in seven teams though it’s telling that the three managers who went into Gameweek 3 without the Chelsea striker all sold him prior to the deadline due to the doubts hanging over his availability. City’s Stevan Jovetic was the next most popular striker, with four managers snapping up his services. Furthermore, only four of the ten managers in our assessment has a budget striker on board, with the remainder investing more heavily in their front three.

In accordance with the top ten squads, then, the template amongst our most successful Fantasy managers is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Foster/Krul
Defenders: Chester, Hutton, Wisdom, Terry, (Debuchy, Chambers, N Taylor, Van Aanholt)
Midfielders: Sigurdsson, Ramsey, Fabregas, Mata (Sterling, Hazard, Marney)
Forwards: Rooney, Costa, Jovetic

Hall of Fame FAQ

How is my rating calculated?
The “HoF Rating” is based on your points scores from previous FPL seasons, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 70% that of the previous season. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2013/14 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The “HoF Ranking” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allow to rank alongside the veterans of the FPL.

How do I join the Hall of Fame
Simply sign up to our leagues next season, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League or if you’re a member, the Members Classic League – the code will available on the dashboard of the Members Area once the FPL game re-opens for registration.

How do I find myself in the Hall of Fame?
The search box at the top of the ranking tables allows you to search by surname or by FPL id.

What if I don’t want to be listed?
Either notify us via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk or simply leave the Fantasy Football Scout league and you’ll be removed on the next update.

When does the Hall of Fame get updated?
The Career table is available to all and is updated at the end of each season to display the latest rankings. The Live version of the Hall of Fame is updated every week to use the latest season data.

Haz is one of the best in the world. Pelle has great fixtures and his stats look promising.

Gonna upgrade defence. Still got 4m in the bank but I love a cheap defence.

I don't like the defence. Go cheap but not that cheap.

      Hutton - Bad upcoming fixtures

Wisdom - Not nailed once all defenders are fit

      Chambers - Not nailed

Moore - I like him as a cheapo

Duff - Not nailed as Burnley signed a defender on deadling day, I just don't remember who.

With that defence you might end up with just 1 defender playing for your team in a few weeks

      never seen a worst defence.
you need a few 4.5 defenders - wilson, PVA, chester, kelly, naylor. etc.

So, yes, random rests can obviously occur. Wondering whether anybody heard about any injury or change in overall situation that would mean that he is more likely to sit a bunch more. He's my bargain fifth mid in a 3-4-3, and you want that person to be somebody who will play regularly, in case somebody else unexpectedly rests.

Gotcha, thanks, that's what I was wondering about. Success with that matchup last week might bode for more of the same going forward then, I'd guess. Seems like the other mids who did play, all played pretty well.

I think it'll take United a while to gel at the back, they haven't looked convincing defensively so far. New signings will need time to adapt. Moreno has a greater attacking threat and I think Pool will be tighter this season than last season. Fixtures are of similar difficulty.

Looks great but a few of them look like knee jerks to me. Falcao, Balo, Moreno and Boyd. Boyd will be a 5th mid so no worries about him.

But I'd wait on the other three. Liverpool don't really keep clean sheets. Falcao and Balo haven't done anything yet to merit selection.

      1. President John F. Keninnsie
        • 10 Years

If Sturridge is out for a while then Balo is an excellent pick IMO.

Potentially a good pick but wouldn't want to jump too early. He is a time bomb after all.

I'm going to keep an eye on his performance this gameweek. Good value if he does well

Isn't part of this game prediction? Meaning actually selecting a player BEFORE they explode?!

By all means your comment has some merit, but AVL and QPR both at home are perfect matches to "explode" in, IMO.

Yes I agree but taking too many risks is not good. You already have Rooney and he can explode against QPR instead of Falcao so a bit early to get him imo.

Balo looks like a more reasonable choice as he got a few chances in the last game, only if he finished them everyone would have got him by now

Is it true you aren't playing FPL this year? 🙁

Not really sure my team requires a WC atm but thought I'd throw the suggestion out there.

            Current team:

            Krul | Elliot
            Terry | Jones | PVA | Moore | Hutton
            Fabregas | Ramsey | Sterling | Mata | Siggy

Yeah that's the plan but do I:

                A) Take a hit next week and get Ade/ Welbeck

                B) Wait a week and take a hit for GW6 (3 player shift)

                C) Take out Mata next week and take a hit the following week.

                D) Straight swap Mata > Eriksen, Tadic, Mirallas, Gerrard and stick with 352.

--My predicament is with a hit I can only afford a striker up to 9.0...

      Moreno>Jones, IMO.

Liking the Falcao and Balotelli punts, although I think with Costa you can downgrade Fab and upgrade your defence a little, but that's up to you. He solves the HazVSFab debate IMO, just get Costa.
Fab Downgrade options: Tadic,Mirallas,Zaha,Dyer if you fancy a punt. If not, .....there aren't too many good premium midfield options are there 😆

What's your current team....really need to WC? I'm tempted too......

I enjoyed his CS last week 😉

Caulker > Naylor/PVA was my way of releasing funds but I'm tempted by a straight Jovetic > Balo transfer if Sturridge is out for a while. That means I don't have to take a hit this week and I can get Costa for Rooney once he's played City, without downgrading a defender. Thoughts?

      Balotelli/Naismith/Welbeck in. Janmaat/Moreno in.

While United have poor defense, Arsenal & Liverpool have their own problems. Arsenal defense is also wafer thin and that will be a problem for them this season. And impact of losing Suarez is huge on Liverpool plus UCL distractions.

Very nice. My only concerns are with Wilson and Wisdom being nailed on. I got burned by Wilson last year when he was dropped right after I got him in (reason being he's not very good at all).

Not sure how long Nathan Dyer can sustain current form, or Naismith for that matter, but I can see why you went with them both.

Siggy, Di Maria, Ramsey, Sterling, Schneiderlin

Seen his previous record? Goalscoring mids are meant to be expensive. Would rather the 9's unless that 1.5 is very useful elsewhere.

42 in 134 is great for a mid, especially if you consider the assists too. 7.5 is cheap.

Overall obviously, but when he is playing in the Dutch league where plenty of players numbers are inflated then it's not great. 1 in 3 in the PL is solid, but can't see him keeping up the same scoring rate.

Get 4.5 GK and you will have to rotate 2 GKs which usually end up in disappointment.

Keep playing Krul and Elliot will play only when Krul got injured. That's it.

    Morning gang.

Glad I brought Costa back in 'early' last week 🙄

Hoping its just one of those international injuries, I would be more concerned if I had Sturridge I think.

Morning Evs. From what Silva says it isn't serious. As he plays for Citeh I can't imagine he's acting on Jose's orders to create subterfuge 😆

What is worrying though is that if Costa keeps having niggles eventually they will turn into a full blown injruy 🙁

After I ditched him pre-gw3 scare, he seems to be some how falling into a...

After what happened last week, any injury rumour can be seen as a positive - captain him!

Same here. Costa > Jovetic > Costa > injured would just be unfortunate/careless FPL management. He better be fit for this GW.

Keeping now until his leg drops off. Even if he doesn't always start he should reap points.

Just checking to see if I'm good to go for this week (pending injuries ofc). Right captain choice? Also, not sure who to start out of PVA and Moore.

    Courtois
    Clyne Colo Moore
Hazard (c) Ramsey Mata Sterling Siggy
    Aguero Adebayor

Subs: Gilks, Vaz Te, PVA, Wisdom.

I suppose it depends on what music you're actually into but what's your guilty pleasure? I have to say I love a bit of Pink. Some of her songs are class.

So far this season, has anybody made any transfers that do not go according to your plan or gut feeling and instincts?

    Brought in Adebayor aimlessly.

Brought Dummett in for Blackett because TFPL had him dropping in price 3 nights in a row. He didn't but Dummett did, to the bench.
