Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 8 – Monday

Saido Berahino is amongst the goals once again as West Brom play out a 2-2 home draw with Man United. Stephane Sessegnon, Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind also find the net, whilst Angel Di Maria earns an assist as Radamel Falcao drops to the Red Devils’ bench.

Berahino Nets Again
The youngster continues to thrive as the central striker for West Brom and took his tally to six for the season with a second-half effort against United last night. Now up to 45 points after the first eight Gameweeks, the 5.6-priced Berahino is shaping up to be a decent short-term differential – having netted four times in the last three Gameweeks, he now entertains Palace and Newcastle in the next three, with a trip to porous Leicester sandwiched in between.

Brunt Under the Radar
Having recovered from a groin injury sustained on international duty, Chris Brunt continues to pick up the points for the Midlands outfit. Whilst Stephane Sessegnon’s superb opener grabbed the headlines, Brunt’s creativity is paying off time and again – his assist for Berahino’s goal was the third time in the last four Gameweeks he’s teed up a team-mate to fire home. At 5.4 and with a 0.2% ownership, Brunt could be worth considering for those on the lookout for a short-term midfield punt.

Wisdom in the Points
Unable to feature against parent club Liverpool last time around, the right-back ousted Cristian Gamboa from the starting line-up against United last night. In spite of Alan Irvine’s recent praise for the Costa Rican, it seems he remains behind Wisdom in the pecking order, and with an assist for Sessegnon’s opener, the 12%-owned youngster looks set to remain as one of the most popular cut-price defenders around.

Falcao Benched as United’s Away Toils Continue
With his side seeking a first away win of the season, Louis van Gaal’s team sheet raised a few eyebrows as Radamel Falcao dropped to the bench last night in order to accommodate Adnan Januzaj as United shifted to a 4-2-3-1. The Colombian had scored or assisted in the previous three but was afforded just 19 minutes by his manager last night. With unlikely scorers Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind rescuing a point for the Red Devils, Van Gaal may think twice over omitting Falcao as Chelsea roll up to Old Trafford this coming weekend. After the match, though, he admitted he may opt to keep the new system and also suggested Fellaini’s physical presence may be beneficial in the centre of the park as he continues to tinker with his preferred XI.

Di Maria Ticking Over
The Argentine moved to within a point of the FPL midfield summit after serving up an assist for Fellaini’s strike last night. Snapped up by over 203,000 Fantasy managers prior to the Hawthorns encounter, Di Maria has now played a part in seven of his side’s last 13 goals (three strikes and four assists), but with Chelsea, City and Arsenal in the next four, some owners may be looking at a way out in order to generate cash for the Sergio Aguero. Having limped off with a thigh problem late on, we’ll be anxiously awaiting updates on the 10.2-priced midfielder’s fitness ahead of the weekend deadline.

Also important to spread your risk of matches being called off with as large a coverage as possible. Nothing worse than having 3 Chelsea players and their game gets called off due to extreme seagull sh*t bombardment or something equally as stupid.

How to fit Aguero into this team??? Ranked 3301 without him

    0.1 in the bank

    Fabianski/McCarthy

    Baines/Kompany/Clyne/Duff/Naylor

    DiMaria/Fabregas/Sterling/Tadic/Downing

    Costa/Pelle/Berahino

    Kompany/Fabregas/Berah -> Wisdom/5.0mil/Aguero

    Is it worth it?

Downgrade Kompany to Chambers this GW, then downgrade someone like Downing and bring in Aguero for Pelle if you think he's essential. But I think Pelle can be just as good.

My point is that you have to make serious sacrifices to put Aguero in if you want him and Costa up top together. IMO you can survive without Aguero as long as other players are performing as well.
If Aguero starts consistently scoring more points than Costa (quite likely) then I think that that needs to be the transfer rather than trying to find £5.5m to upgrade Welbeck.

          Tadic cheaper and on pens.

Aguero a captain option, Sanchez has been prone to rotation.

Regarding Aguero's price - in a couple of weeks you may really struggle to fit him in if you then decide you want him.

On Berahino's position from the last page:

He played the first three games on the right, with Anichebe or Ideye playing up top.

Since GW4 he's been the main man though, and I doubt that will change given his current form. In GW4 they changed to more of a strict 4-2-3-1, and Ideye played in behind him in the hole - the position Sessegnon has since filled. So, even if Ideye comes back, I expect Berahino to continue as their furthest forward player.

Sakho's first start was GW4, so it makes for quite a nice comparison in the members area.

I'll have 6.7m so Chadli or Henderson will probably be the ideals. Will see who does the best next few GWs

    So, this is my proposal...

ADM, PVA & De Gea ---> Tadic, Baines & Lloris (-4)

Got to be a good switch hasn't it???

Lloris vs. DDG = Lloris wins out.
Baines vs. PVA = Baines. Hands down.
Tadic vs. ADM = Could honestly go either way [Tadic probably wins by virtue of his price/points]

Yup-- It's a move that improves your squad imo

        Fair enough.

I was trying to convince myself Downing ;arrow: Barkley was a good idea. I'll wait for him to play a couple more games or just succumb and get Mo Diame if he's still scoring 😯

If they are that desperate to fill up their games, all of their tickets should be cheaper. Show the fans that you really care about them and price the tickets at 20 pounds each, even for the PL. It is not like City need the money in order to improve the club, etc.

I agree, it's a good start and more clubs should follow.
Bizarre that some people crack one off over German prices , yet attempts, although minor, by City are ridiculed.
The move should be applauded by all fans to drive a wider consensus amongst clubs with reference to the price of match tickets

How is this for a wildcard team?

    Krul - max 5,3 keeper
    Clyne - N.Taylor - Wilson - Hutton - Duff
Fabregas - Di Maria - Sigurdsson - Tadic - Jedinak
    Costa - Aguero - Pelle

I know it is Southampton-heavy, but will probably transfer either Pelle or Tadic out after the good run of fixtures.

    1) Do you like the team?
    2) Too weak defence?
    3) Who should be the second keeper?
